If you would ever like to do 73 questions with a PM&R doc, I would be pleased to be your subject (though I live in metro Detroit, so that "issue" would have to be worked out). These are entertaining and interesting videos.
I lost my two best friends Brooke died from covid 19 in February this year then two months later Lynn, help me with this I can't talk to my parents without crying
Those eyes 😍, scary and beautiful at the same time.
I love that he was honest up front about not getting into 25 medical schools. He has such a good attitude and fortitude and he will make a great doctor. Not everything was handed to him and this builds character.
Forsure. It's tough not getting in and nobody likes to talk about it, could make you feel disappointed and lost. But so many people have to reapply, I'm sure it's reassuring to see someone living their dream even if the path wasn't drawn out how they imagined
Yes!! that’s super reassuring and inspiring where he’s at today!
I am pretty sure he didn't get into med school the first try because he is #FFFFFF
Wait...what about a dad with a guitar room says he didn't get things handed to him? He's super young...yea he had a massive amount of help that most of us dont/didn't get. I didn't start med school til I was 36. The majority of kids there had a LOT handed to them. Not saying he won't be a good physician, just saying he probably got all the best MCAT courses...he was able to apply to 25 schools lol check the price tag on that alone
They may have suggested life experience was necessary.
This was so fun Andy. Thank you so much for taking the time to interview me. Your talent behind the camera is unmatched man. You’re gonna be at 100K subs in a few months, and the sky is the limit after that. Keep crushing it bro!
You matter most!
you've been a real one since the beginning man. never stop telling your stories, you're changing millions of lives even beyond your official patients. i know we got a ton of future psychiatrists here that have a new role model!
You felt so relatable, humble, and honest throughout the interview. I can see you being an amazing psychiatrist. Great interview Andy!
Ur smile and laugh are contagious. Ure rlly down to earth and ur work is greatly appreciated !!!
@JakeGoodmanMD I need some advice from a psych standpoint. I have Cushings Disease due to a pituitary tumor. Due to that, I have pretty severe anxiety and some depression. My neuroendocrinologist for SOME reason believes my hypercortisolism is functional. My labs disagree, ACTH is 93.8, 78, very High as is cortisol up to 1,000x normal esp late at night. What does one do when a physician refuses to DX or treat? She won’t send me for IPSS, insists it’s functional/psychosomatic. I’ve asked psuedo Cushings patients what their ACTH levels were like - 24-30! And cortisol largely normal. It can’t be correct.
I’m on year 17 of cyclical Cushings. I don’t want to die or leave my son behind. Psych says it’s Cushings Disease too! I’m at a loss.
This dude's personality is great. I can't imagine why 25 medical schools rejected him. I'm glad he didn't give up.
Life experience? Seems to have paid off for him, though.
Went to Med School with Jake! Such a good human being!
such a small world out here :) that's awesome
Where are you from?
I really enjoyed this interview! I love how Dr. Jake without saying it directly said, “I want to work to live, NOT live to work.” His personality screams he loves and cares about others but also cares about his well-being. Clearly he’s excited with his career and the role he plays in society without jeopardizing his mental health, family and social life. Dr. Jake’s attitude towards balancing work and life was very eye opening to me and hopefully to others watching this video.
He is so humble and kind 🥰 love seeing this, especially in psychiatry.
@@thekycklingwizard78 why tho? I thought they were supposed to be super compassionate and empathetic.
@@Silversubs29078 You're right
@@Silversubs29078 think again. They’re human too. They got their own problems they deal with especially with that population. It can easily wear you down
He is such a sweet person.
His future patients are very lucky. He seems very compationate towards people and he obviously loves his job.
I wish him the best in all aspects of his life (personal life and his career).
Such a sweet person! I hope he will successfully become certified in his field and enjoy his profession since he seems to be very passionate about it. I also consider psychiatry among with neurology and neurosurgery cause I'm a neuroscience fan.
You're in college right now, right?
@@zaferalabbas I'm at high school, 18 years old and a senior (my final year) and I'm applying for med school next year (2021). I'm from Europe and here specifically you don't go to college but you do 6 years of medicine :)
Neurosurgery is cool but not the surgery part of it lol. Like I find surgery very cool but the surgeons lifestyle is definitely not for me. I already struggle with so much anxiety and really enjoy having down time and working on my other hobbies besides medicine. I have always considered neurology or psychiatry as well :)
This dude's cut from a different cloth. So refreshing to see someone like him in the medical field.
He is going to be a wonderful psychiatrist. Very caring and honest person.
I’m a psychology pre-med student and this has helped me so much. Truly appreciate it.
He’s one of my favorite personalities on the planet. The guy seems like one of the most empathetic and kind hearted souls out there. I feel so hopeful for the future knowing people like him are out there.
When he said so much of your treatment is outside of medicine. I screamed yes!!! He's going to make an awesome psychiatrist!! All the best Jake!!!
So cool! I love seeing MD’s that are passionate about their field.
I really appreciate how open he was about his gap year, as well as the question you usually ask about the idea of giving up medical school or not making it, to remind us that it's a common thought in this difficult field. And to have in mind that it's okay to stumble, but it's prohibited to not pick ourselves up! Keep up the good work and great content!
This guy is my hero. His humility and honesty will make him a phenomenal psychiatrist. As someone who also took the MCAT more than once, thank you for sharing.
I love this! Thank you for making this video! For future students thinking about medical school like me, this was an eye opener. and conversations like this are what we need!
I'm glad he mentioned the concept of not being able to use the restroom in surgery. That's a valid point.
Oh my goodness. I’ve watched Jake for so long and to see him on this makes me so happy.
Have been waiting on this one since i knew it was filmed, Thank you!
And what a great doctor jake is💗
This is the most amazing series on RUclips ❤️❤️
He is a gem ! This was a great interview!
I used to see him all the time on campus, I’m glad to see him doing well!!! SKMC MADE🥳
Let’s gooo!!

He is an amazing person! I started to follow him through the pandemic and his life lessons and motivation for his followers have always been a big inspiration to me. just gratitude
One of the most wholesome interview ever seen!! Thank you! That interview was such a beautiful inspiration to continue on with medicine ❤
That was absolutely wonderful, Jake. Thanks for posting.
That's one of your best interview bro ! ;) keep it going! we are so thankful you for your effort!
He's such a sincere and inspiring soul!
I️ loved this guy. So nice and passionate. Glad to have doctors like him.
It's not easy to process all the emotions I got from this interview. Thank you guys. You are changing the field of medicine.
He is so down to earth wishing him the best!
What an amazing gem of a human. We are lucky to have such a humble and sincere doctor!
He has such a good spirit! Loved this video, probably one of my fave interviews yet!
This interview was the best! Jake comes off humble and wholesome. Good job.
Best serious so far! ThAnk you for such a brutal honesty and highlighting the reality.
I've never been more excited to watch one of your videos and like it as fast as as I did for this one. This man is literally me. I ruled out O&G due to the horrible experience with some doctors, I took a forced gap year, and consider work-life balance a huge priority. Psychiatry has been on the top of list since I finished my psychiatry rotation last year. This video is has made me more excited to go into Psychiatry
Been waiting ever since your community post, thank you so much!!
I don't see these kind of vlogs anywhere abt psychiatry and so I was so happy to finally have watched it! Thank you for this!
This just clarifies my calling. Thank you so much for this all of it is what I'm looking for the next years!
this is the best interview i have ever watched, thank you both!
This has been by far the best interview with no close ended answers
Super down to earth! Wish nothing but the best. He seems like he would be an amazing doctor.
I love this guy and his vibe, a true inspiration
my favourite 73 questions video!!! jake was incredible! so passionate, caring, a true breath of fresh air he is! well done with the interview too :)
This has to be my favorite interview! I was already interested in psychiatry and Jake's honesty and personality were just so helpful and made me love psych even more. Thank you to both of you!
Best 51 minutes spent on RUclips! Thanks ND for this wonderful interview.
This was great! I’m so happy to finally get this speciality because it’s what inspired me to try for medical school.
What an awesome 73 q interview. Especially from Jake, we really do see the passion he has for the field he is in. Much luck and blessings to the two of you guys!
Was waiting for this one. Keep up the good work Andy ❤️
He seems to be very honest. I like that.

Refreshing honesty. Very interesting interview. Thanks
Definitely my favorite installment so far
Awesome interview.
Eventho im a nursing student, all jake's posts ALWAYS renew my strength. Bcs nurses will dealing a lot wiith people's lowest point, and this video of him hit me (in a good way). Thankyouu for inviting him!
And I also watched other video of yours, keep it up💪💪
He is so humble and super cool.
As a 4th year medical student in the UK, I resonate with Jake so much! Thank you guys for doing this, you have a new subscriber!
He seems very humble and down to earth 🥰🥰
Im a PA here and worked closely with many surgery residents and other residents who work in the OR and this guy is a breath of fresh air. He says how it is unlike any one else on youtube. Most people just act like its sooo great being in med school and this and that but I was really happy to see this guy be realistic about it. Any pre-med students out there listen to this guy!
Absolutely love how raw Dr. Goodman is! It’s refreshing to see a doctor take care of themselves just as much as their patients. His outlook on life is inspiring and he is doing so many amazing things for this world! Thank you, Dr. Goodman!
His transparency was refreshing, as well, great quality in a therapeutic field.
I am not even in medicine but I watched his entire video. He has such warm energy and I love love his transparency, I hope he never stops that. It is refreshing.
The fact that he did this video with you in his first residency year, where a lot of your confidence takes hit, more power to him, and best of luck man!
I love all the docs on this channel but dr. Goodman is the most genuine.
I LOVE the aesthetics of this channel! If you ever get a chance, can you PLEASE interview a forensic psychology? Keep up the great work! ❤️
Thanks for the video, I finally got some clarity what specifically I should choose. And Dr jake is the most realistic as a person
Authentic and intelligent. Great questions too. Great job!
Jake is so calm and cool
this was so honest and transparent! thanks Andy!
You can truly see and feel that Jake is meant to be a psychiatrist!! Thank you for this interview, it really gave me a boost during this difficult med school time. Don't you dare to lose your love for life and mental health field. Such a vibe :)))
This was a great interview. Thank you for sharing 😀
This was amazing! His honesty is refreshing, and he's easy on the eyes. Best of luck to him in his career.
This is so inspiring especially his determination. I'm four years away from med school but despite the challenges in these years I will make it.
Oh my gosh, you did it! You finally did it! You really did it!!! You interviewed someone in psychiatry!!!!!!!! I am so happy! You are officially my favorite medical RUclips channel for the rest of the year! Med School Insiders, Doc Schmidt, Dr. Glaucomflecken, and everyone else will just have to deal with it, because you are number one! If you ever decide to do another psychiatry video about someone out of residency or in a sub-specialization then I think Doctor Mitnaul (Child & Adult Psychiatry) would be fun and interesting to interview! Thanks again for doing this!
thank you so much you're too kind :). so happy to be able to bring stories like Jake's to the channel. there's so many people that I know need to hear it
His interview in later parts are like a painting! Good-looking person, radiating positive aura and the beautiful surroundings with varieties of colors among trees! This doctor is an art himself!
One of my favorite Instagram doctors ever! So glad you interviewed him. His honesty is refreshing and his attitude is endearing
Kinda learning in a fun-way-video, and the way he was brutally honest with every answer, I loved it!
Sooo loved this!! Thank you so much!!
The happiest doctor I've ever seen!
One of the best informative talk, thank you !
So excited to see Dr. Jake! great video
I love your interview - authentic, rich and full. I like to put an emphasis on what Dr. said about vulnerability. Indeed the psych field involves so much stressors specially in witnessing and knowing people at their rock bottom. Currently I'm a Psychology student, a psychiatrist in the making. This made my day. Thank you so much.
He's absolutely adorable! Obviously cares about people. He's very positive and calming. He will have lucky patients!
I'm starting my career as a psychiatric PA in two weeks. I'm very excited and enjoyed listening to this!
He is very honest and sweet!!
I love the fact that he thinks about how much medications cost for patients..
Dr. Goodman's interview is one of the best interviews you have conducted. Shout out for mental health!
Wow I know this video a year ago already but the production is so simple and comforting, keep up with the videos I really enjoy this. You deserves the sub!
every student must watch this video this is a life lesson what a wonderful wise guy
Thanks so much for your videos! Since you're doing videos of students and other healthcare workers, you should interview someone in EMS (EMT or paramedic)! I've been working in the field during my 2 gap years and it has opened my eyes so much to pre-hospital medicine, which I think a lot of people in more "traditional" healthcare professions are minimally aware of. It's a really unique and interesting field that I wish people knew more about!
Being a psyc doctor, I wonder if he’s genuinely down to earth or knows what it takes to make people like you. Either way, he’s my favorite doc so far on this series ♥️
Great, wholesome video!! Also the image quality is so clear!!
My favorite “73 question” interview. What a beautiful soul! Thank you for advocacy for mental health!
This was great! Jake has a fun personality which was very entertaining to watch
Andy thank you for your consistency with this channel. Jake that was really an eye-opening interview. Lesson learnt , love what you do and sell it out. Can't wait to see Andy Nguyen being interviewed himself one day.
I love the honesty.
this was a great interview. that guy is amazing. i hope he makes a video of all the things wrong in medicine
I follow Jake on RUclips and he just has the same lovely feel to him in this interview. I wish he had been a psychiatrist in my care team over the last 30 years or even into my future. I think I'd have had better outcomes with his wisdom and support.
