Love this video. I've always wanted to become either a neurosurgeon or neurologist, but these days Im leaning towards neurology because of the lifestyle. Less hours and more time to do other things.
Hi, could you pls tell me about the lifestyle? I’m a premed and I really really love everything about neurology and it seriously is a strong passion and motivator in my life. However, I began looking into radiology bcos I feel like the compensation for neurology is not as generous, while I hv intense passion for medicine, I value high compensation. Neurofibromatosis patient here! I've lived with this condition my whole life, but was diagnosed 30 years ago at age at 8. In all that time I've had some scares but never staid overnight in a hospital. 2 months ago I had a severe abdominal pain attack. I was convinced it was appendicitis. But turns out, I suffered a thoracic aneurysm due to an unknown tumor pressing aganist the artery between the T11 and T12 regions of my spine/ribs. I had no warning, and felt fine all week/day. Withing an hour I had bleed out just over 3 liters - almost all my blood. I'm a pretty small-averaged size female, so this was almost all of my blood. I was receiving transfusions but it took the team hours to figure out what was going on...one critical transport and 2 CTs, one emergency surgery and a few hours later, we learned the importance of lesion location. I am in recovery now, but it's been a long journey in just two months. Parts of my condition I thought I'd conquered, escaped or managed well are suddenly new and daunting, but I'm so grateful to the medical team that treated me and were able to identify what was happening quickly. I wouldn't be here without them.

Notice her husband's Dr. Rutkowski 73 questions for a neursurgeon, he simply made a cup of coffee for himself. While his wife, she offered..."can I get you something to drink?". At first I was wondering about the inequalities between men and women. But I think, its okay for women to think about others. It shows a woman's care and hospitality. I think I will continue offering tea to my visitors even though I am fierce on the woman's rights stuff :)
