    With those higher temps you may want to try avocado oil (from Costco) as it has a much higher smoke point and it has a creamy texture.

    It does look incredibly sturdy and solid. You did a great job pointing out the pros and cons. The wind issue could be a huge con. Great review.

      I am actually really surprised how well it is made. I guess we will tell if I am right in a year or two!

    Thanks for the review, best one I've seen so far. I was looking to compact my cooking gear and this system might work as an all in one. This system didn't make the cut for me thanks to your review. It ended up between Jetboil Genesis 2 burner basecamp system and Partner steel two 9" folding burner. I think these would be more compact, versatile and perform better in windy conditions. I may still pick up the Ikamper system down the line as I do like a lot of it's features.

      I am glad it was helpful. I think the iKamper is a very well built system and has some real optionality, with just a couple things I think need to be tweaked. Thanks for dropping by!

    *My Skottle came with my drone, traction boards, and spare gas cans! I never used any of it, but I did go to the Cosplay Fauxverlanding Expo and stayed at the Holiday Inn Express!*

      First off-I love your name-so funny and creative. Yes for sure there is a set of gear that has become the meme for overlanding, useful or not depends on where you go. Cosplay Fauxverlanding-Man you would be a riot to have a beer with!

    Might I suggest that you try using some heavy-duty tin foil to make your own wind guard. It's cheap, easy to work with and you can construct a wind guard of any shape or size to suit the force and direction of any wind that you may get. iKamper may never get around to making one.

    • @dickinaroundoutdoors8609
      @dickinaroundoutdoors8609  9 месяцев назад +1

      Thanks for dropping by and the great suggestion. I agree that there are ways to get around the issue and you suggestion is right on.
      I also agree that iKamper may never solve it themselves but that is too bad given how good the system is. I have a larger FireDisc cooker that has an optional, very practical and effective wind solution and I am surprised iKamper has not updated the design by simply copying FireDisc's, heck maybe I am the only one who pointed it out, who knows.

    How did the Omnia oven perform with Kovea burner?? Did the food burn or cook evenly? I noticed you didn't use the flame diffuser you recommended for the Omnia oven. Great video and best wishes to you and Mrs. Camera Lady.

      Thanks for reaching out. You know I don't recall actually doing a cook in the Omnia when we made that video so I cannot say. Something I will have to check so I appreciate you asking the question!

      Yes, as flexible as this cooker is it does have some limitations. I am a bit surprised that all the early testers didn't bring this up. I have used it more in some of my videos and still think it is a very good kit, but the limitations remain.

    What kind of chain should you buy since it doesn’t come with one?

    • @dickinaroundoutdoors8609
      @dickinaroundoutdoors8609  Год назад

      If you are asking about the chain to hang a dutch oven the Disco actually does come with one that works well. It is much smaller than the one Lodge uses on their tripods but I did hang a 12 inch oven full of water and it worked fine.
      Thanks for dropping by.

    This griddle / wok has been out in Korea for a while. General consensus is that while it's good, it's wayyyy overpriced. The stove is just a regular stove with average output so it doesn't distribute the heat very well. Also, it's ridiculously weak to wind as you mentioned in your review. You're better off getting something like Snow Peak GigaPower LI stove and putting a griddle on top of it.

    • @dickinaroundoutdoors8609
      @dickinaroundoutdoors8609  2 года назад +1

      I agree the price point will be a show stopper for a lot of folks and could certainly be considered “luxury” camping. I have used Coleman white gas stoves and cast iron for many years and that may be where I return but I definitely wanted to give this one a shot to see. I do think the materials and construction of this unit is top notch and much better than most camping stoves I have encountered and enamel coated cast iron that will hold up to the rigors of outdoor cooking is not cheap. So for price I think it is not unreasonable, But it would be a very lively discussion as to the value.

    Don't like Disco, I love HEAVY METAL though! I do not think there is an answer for a cooker for everything. Having multiple ways of cooking is key. I think that thing would be great directly over a fire. Cooking management would be constant though. I understand it gets really hot, so one wouldn't be grilling a Cheese Sandwich on it! Great review!

      Yes, we are hoping to get it directly over the fire this week. Mastering the heat on that will take some time and the concave shape will have its pros and cons for sure.

    • @johnscythe6412

      To keep it from getting too hot, turn the burner down a bit. I do grilled cheese sandwiches all the time on my disk and my burner is much hotter than this one.

      I agree, it is not a bargain choice. It is very well made and executed for the most part but for sure a luxury.
