Don't forget to seam seal around the holes for the wing like the factory A must if you want to keep water out of the trunk and trunk lid + it will help you adjust the wing easier . I put a 1/4 inch bead of seam seal around each hole
Looking Great, making good progress. More than me for sure lol. It’s your car so no hard time on the spoiler ends but I will say that they didn’t change to a new stylistic design but changed to fit around the new for 74 wrap around tail lights. Sweet build, can’t wait to see your wheels.
I did notice the seal on my 74 settled a little bit. You want to get the deck spoiler centered up first and then worry about the two end pieces since you have more adjustment there. Once you get those end pieces lined up it will look perfect. Looking great so far man. I love the carbon fiber look with that paint color.
Can confirm...You need to twist those springs a full 360 or they won't hold. It's a total pain but doable with a small jack handle and a lot of thick blankets.
you sure you have the trunk springs incorrectly? If you take the spoiler center off and have the trunk shut, when you turn the key the trunk lid should fly open like crazy. I'm guessing your carbon piece is lighter then stock
KUDOS! Looks good!!!! I have a lot of purists mad at me as well... M car has 43K original miles on it, original paint, original interior etc, etc... First thing I did was yank the 180 hp 350 and dropped a 434 Dart with a 177 blower on it into the car... Muscle pack ford 9" rear end, etc, etc... Man I REALLY like to see original cars, they are beautiful. but, I also cant help but think, while looking at an all original resto..... ALL that money that went into original could have made it into a real car! You are doing great, Like you said, it IS your car, LIVE the dream!
Matt, I have a question on where you found the assembly book in a couple of your videos? I have a 74 that I'm Just doing tear down on and would love to have a reference book
@@Lethalgarage dude you rock! I can't wait to get her back in shape poor thing was left in a field to die.. funny since a battery some good gas and she loaded herself onto the trailer..
idk if I'd call 74-81 spoiler more "stylistic" pretty sure it only did that to conform to the new taillight laws Not saying they are bad, but if GM had their way they'd probably be the same the entire generation
Of course. If GM used the 70-73 end pieces it would have covered the wrap around tail lights...the new design is to allow the new tail light...not for more styling.
I need to look back and see if you have a video with the OER wing on the back. I think that gap on the trunk would forever trigger my OCD. Other than that - I love the look. I do have one question. Isn't there a gasket to seal the around the perimeter of the wing and caps to prevent dirt/water from getting under them? If so - wouldn't that tighten up your gaps a little? I could swear I've see them with that. Either way - Looking good! I was actually contemplating something similar with my 77 to 'early' 70's swap I'm doing. Kind of keeping homage to the 77 that I'm cutt'n up! LOL...
The holes in the trunk lid are drilled improperly. That's why the center piece sits more forward on the pass side. Very common with OE and OER trunk lids drilled by the factory. Its best to get a trunk lid not drilled and drill the holes yourself for perfect spoiler alignment. You can see even though the pass side is higher than the driver, the holes in general are too far forward. As for a trunk seal....look to metros new seal with air cavities. You won't have the bulging.
It happens to me and my 70' Firebird I'd love to hear idea's. But when people say why'd you do that and that's not correct forward this Era vehicle. It's not your Ride it's mine. My 70' Firebird has the desirable 72' Trans Am grill and people get offended that's not for your car 😁 can't please everyone
Using the 70-73 spoiler was the not hard at all and the fiberglass was the easiest and best solution to fit it perfectly to the rear of the car. To me that CF 74 to 81 looks like complete dog ... on your car.

That spoiler is sick‼️🔥🔥🔥
Hey man, that spoiler looks awesome. I would do the same thing if I was building this car.

That spoiler is legit!!! I agree the later corner is way cleaner.
Your going in the right way. Slowly but, surely let that trunk seal. No hurries leaves no worries.

848 EVO springs are in right. It pops open, but not very well.
Looks good. that actually wouldn't be a bad look for the new Camaros either if it was form fitted.
I like the one you got better looks like the ST trunk for the 2016-2020🔥
Gorgeous,absolutely gorgeous bro😎
I want that spoiler 😍
Sure looks good Matt would look really nice once you get The bolts trimmed to get some black nuts . 👍
i had a 78 z28 with that tail spoiller color math yellow this Camaru was the same spec of the one in the first movie TRANSFORMERS. you have a nice one
Just found this video, and I too prefer the 1974 spoiler end caps on my 1970, they look cleaner and more slick
Looks great....

What is the width of the spoiler all the way across til it turns down the fenders. Wondering if it would fit my crazy project

I guess my comment is more towards how Anvil Auto stylized it bit more. If you compare the 2 they are different

You can add stuff, but it isn’t something that is standard

The new Camaro should have looked like this.
Are you selling the spare spoiler corners?
and the trim seal rubber should meet in the rear center(next to the latch) ..not on the right side
Do you want to sell the factory rear spolier
Where can you purchase this spoiler

That's okay. I don't think they had carbon fiber in 1971 anyway.
It’s only been around since 1879 ;) yes…. 1800’s
LMAO.😂
Hello brother how are you?
So, just gonna copy your neighbor all the way? Saw that spoiler on his orange one...
that's a 78-81 rear spoiler
74-81....just like he said in the video

The 70-73 setup is the laziest design crafted for the car, looks like dog … to me, wouldn’t let that POS design touch my car.
