  • We install RideTech's revolutionary Bolt-On 4-Link rear suspension system for 1970- 1981 GM F-body cars including Chevrolet Camaro, Pontiac Firebird, Z28, Trans Am and Formula. It's the most comprehensive system available for "2nd-Gens." The system features an all new rear subframe design called a "Unicradle". It consists of tubular frame rails that bolt to pre-existing leaf spring perch mounting points. The links are optimized for length and orientation. They pass through your car's rear bulkhead to a tubular brace that ties into the bulkhead/trans tunnel structure in multiple planes for maximum torsional rigidity. RideTech's all new R-joint rod ends provide full range articulation and long wear resistance without noise. The system is easy to install.

    nice system. I would certain consider this setup if I decide to upgrade my DSE mini tub leaf spring kit. Currently running 335 Kumhos out back.

    Can this kit work with relocated leaf springs? My front mounts are moved in. The car is mini tubbed with a narrowed 12 bolt. 56.25" axle flange to flange.

    Still looking for a video of someone doing a competition engineering rear frame rail installation on a second gen camaro for monster tire clearance and modified and upgraded suspension. Meaning ripping out the stock rear rails and cutting up the trunk to allow the new rails to lay properly.

    If k have a rear frame rail that need patched, and install this, will I still need to patch the frame rail?

    We have run into one roadblock after another with the 4 link suspension and we’re just getting started the bushings did not want to go in like in this video they did not slip in we had to go buy a great big bolt and draw them together like that then the right side frame rail did not want to bolt to the rear shackle it was a half inch off now the center bulkhead completely does not want to line up with where the seatbelt holes are in the rear passenger seat unbelievable and we’re just getting started

  • @willmills1370
    @willmills1370 4 месяца назад

    How GM should have made this an option on the WS6 package for the Trans Am or Z28 or SS. Add a 9 inch rear, plus the works and you're golden.

    I’d have had to seal those bolt holes up with some silicone and rust prevented the holes drilled. The cars too nice not too.

    This is awesome! How large of a rear tire does this system allow with stock wheel tubs?

    • @LiveInTheNow247
      @LiveInTheNow247 5 лет назад +2

      Was thinking the same but you cant go wider tire without changing the stock tubs and narrowing the rear frame rails. So this suspension is only for suspension purposes and not fatter tire clearance.

      With this design 4 link the upper bars set the axle center and also control the side to side movement the panhard would handle.

    Was there any compromise on optimal link length?

    • @DIY-ki8bd
      @DIY-ki8bd 5 лет назад +1

      You'll get some less than optimal pinion angle change but I doubt the handling is affected much. I still don't get why they didn't use offset upper axle brackets like DSE. Which puts the pivot behind the axle.

    • @R0yL33
      @R0yL33 5 лет назад

      @@DIY-ki8bd I like that the uppers go into the back seat which buys a few more inches , but ya offset on the axle side too would be even better. That's the only thing I don't like about these kits ... the pinion angle at either end of suspension travel. The torque arm kits are better in this regard but heavier I think, more expensive and require a panhard.
