1883 is pure poetry. Taylor Sharidan's masterpiece. Isabel May is magically breathtaking like Robert Redford in Jeremiah Johnson, and Tim McGraw and Faith HIll, make us feel their palpable connection and understanding so well. I'm blown away.
I love the Yellowstone universe, and 1883 is perfection. The music is so special, and I cried my eyes out in the finale and think about it occasionally.
@ItsMeWendyvee Damn when I watched 1883 myself I thought she was the mothers sister and even thought they did a great job of getting two actresses that could pass as sisters. She'd still be Elsa's aunt if she was the mothers sister lol 😅
Tim McGraw and Faith Hill play so well off of each other. From what I have read, what you see of them on this show is how they are in real life with each other and I LOVE that. Just wait for the surprise Cameo that's coming...and I'm sure you will recognize him🥰 AND his voice.
I ususally wait for a series to be finished before I watch it. 1883 was the first thing in a long while that I had to watch each episode weekly. I wasn't going to wait.
I watched this show with my girl, we both loved it. The music is so touching, and magical, I don't think any music of any show had such an effect on me, like this show did. I am so exctied to rewatch this series again, and see you react to it.
"Hell's Half Acre" was an actual section of Fort Worth, TX that was known for being very corrupt and seedy as portrayed in the show. You can still visit it today in downtown Fort Worth although its been taken over by downtown and none of it's original buildings still stands.
@@Andre-qc9nb Yep was down there for New Year’s Eve, stayed at the Omni which is on the old hells half acre. Only thing on there is hotels and the convention center now.
Hell's Half Acre was the brothel/rough side of town. It existed in Fort Worth but was also used in places like San Antonio. In Fort Worth, it was the area near the Convention Center now (born in Ft. Worth, lived there for 57 years).
My mum (who was 85 at the time) used to get dropped off by my sister to watch this with me and it was her favourite show. she died a few months after it finished so I have a real soft spot for everything Dutton. This is a fantastic story with incredible acting performances and I was pleasantly surprised at how good two of my favourite C&W performers were in the show. Thanks again for your terrific reactions to some of my best shows.
He burned down the house to not only cremate his family, but also because he couldn’t live there anymore due to the memories and the pain they bring. My mother was the same way when my 21 year old brother died in the early 80s. She said every time she turned around she expected to hear his voice, to see him walking down the hall or through the front door. She became severely depressed, so dad sold the house, packed us up and we moved away. Only by talking about him and saying his name were we able to pull her out of the darkness she had lost herself in.
Taylor Sheridan wrote this season as if it was a novel, which is why the narration is so dang beautiful among other things. It was such a smart process on his part. There's a definite beginning and end of this story. I really appreciate how much research and effort he puts in to getting the experience of the migration spot on. We've seen and learned about it before (Americans have. Maybe no other places) but I don't recall anything that shows the sheer brutality of the Oregon trail quite like this. He never pulls his punches, no matter what topic he's writing about.
FINALLY!!! I really hope y'all love 1883, because I did! This opening episode made my jaw drop and it didn't lift off!! Can't wait for your reactions! Hubs and I love you both!! And yes, that was whats her face! 🤣
I just finished this series before my finals! I am really excited for your reactions😄 I have not even watched Yellowstone yet but the shorts I came across about 1883 persuaded me into watching it in 3 days, it is one of my favourites now. I never new I would like this kind of setting, since I am Turkish, the culture here was really new and worth exploring for me. I think I was also looking for something that felt like Westworld and gave me that cozy feeling of the fist two seasons..🥰
Hell's Half Acre was an area in Fort Worth with brothels and bars for the cowboys bringing cattle herds to the rail head. Used to teach 2nd grade. We were told to teach about the streets around the individual schools. I raised my hand and told them I couldn't. They said, "Oh we will help you research." I said, " I already know that 3 were Madams from Hell's Half Acre. She just looked at me stunned."
OMG this is what got me into Yellowstone. I watched this FIRST, (I love period pieces) never thinking I'd watch Yellowstone, and it blew me away. This is a MASTERPIECE! Buckle up. Also tons of really cool easter eggs/call back (call forwards) from Yellowstone. There's also quite a few characters from Yellowstone who play different characters in 1883, see if you can spot them. Enjoy!
The first time I watched this series, I was surprised at how great Tim McGraw and Faith Hill were as actors. I'd only seen either one of them in small cameo roles before this. But they are both very talented actors.
"Brutal." That's a good word to describe this series. But it's also beautiful. The French started paying for scalps of Englishmen. It wasn't really something Native Americans did before that.
Ah, Elsa my beloved. The heart and soul of the Dutton family. I started in the Yellowstone universe with this one so it was very interesting and sad to see how the family started here at it's peak with them being good humble dreamers fighting to survive to the dyscfunctional sociopathic mess they are in modern times (which I believe is 100 % John Duttons fault. He got so obssesed with protecting the ranch to honor his ancestors that he forgot about what was truly important which ironically made him the complete opposite of those ancestors he wanted to honor)
Hell's Half Acre was a red-light district in Ft. Worth, it folded up shop during WW1 when nearly every major city had one but they were closed down / snuffed out by the U.S. Armed Forces because too many troops were getting STD's.
You guys are in for a ride like no other! This is better than Yellowstone and more realistic! It is so different than anything you have ever seen…. Hold on tight. It’s going to test your modern morals. 😮
There are several westerns starring Sam and also Tom Selleck, who btw is a great screen cowboy as well. There is also an older movie called lifeguard? or The Lifeguard starring a young Sam. Check it out sometime. Not a great piece of cinema but interesting to see Sam as a young guy. Oh Sam's name in this series is Shea Brennan. Stay safe and well.
One thing you will learn with Taylor Sheridan is he uses the same actors in a lot of his shows. Kind of like how Adam Sandler does with his crew. The more series and movies you watch that Taylor is the writer or screenwriter for you will see a lot of the same actors in them.
Banger series! I know afterwards Taylor sort of wished he did it as a two season series like he is doing with 1923. I was hooked from the start and the narration really holds you. Enjoy the ride West to the Yellowstone!
Get ready for a good series! Also, if you want to see Sam Elliott A little more in his prime, you should watch a pretty good movie with him and Cher called "Mask" True story and Cher does really good in it.
Love this show, especially Elsa's narration takes it to another level. The fact that is has a beginning and an end probably kept Taylor Sheridan's writing in check, no weird unfinished storylines as far i can remember (Yellowstone wolve collars, airplane bomb to name a few)
Guys did you recon the German Leader?? He was in Game of thrones too. He played Commander Connington. The leader of the Golden Army. He was killed by Grey Worm in front of King`s Landing
You probably didn't recognise him, but Yusef, the leader of the immigrants, was in both the Last Kingdom and Game of Thrones. In TLK he was Tekil, one of Kjartan's men in season two who tried to kidnap Uhtred and take his eye. And in GOT he was that incredibly useless captain of the Gold Company in season 8 😂😂
According to history only about 80,000 of the estimated 400,000 emigrants who started on the Oregon Trail actually made it to Oregon's Willamette Valley.
Elsa reminds me of my oldest daughter so much in every way...the opening scene I had to rewatch because at first I thought it was my daughter...This one got to me and I consider myself a "manly man"...but not when it comes to my girls (or my boys)

I can't wait until yall react to Tulsa king its another Taylor Sherdon mini series❤
Nikki isn't ready for the emotional damage of this series 😉
way worse than Yellowstone.
I was just thinking the exact same thing when I saw this video.
I’ve been thinking this too 😭😭😭
I, a grown ass man, was bawling like a baby at the end of this series.
But it's sooo goooooood regardless. lol
The casting in this show is absolutely outstanding 🥰👌🏼🤍
Elsa's spirit runs through Beth, this is where Beth gets her toughness from Elsa and Margaret.
1883 is pure poetry. Taylor Sharidan's masterpiece. Isabel May is magically breathtaking like Robert Redford in Jeremiah Johnson, and Tim McGraw and Faith HIll, make us feel their palpable connection and understanding so well. I'm blown away.
I hadn't thought of Jeremiah and Isabel, but you're right, the discovery they made is so similar.
Arguably the best Taylor Sheridan show he’s done.
I love the Yellowstone universe, and 1883 is perfection. The music is so special, and I cried my eyes out in the finale and think about it occasionally.
loved this series and Isabel May was so great in this show!
This is the best series of the Yellowstone shows. Great, great story.
facts
I agree....and 1923 is a close 2nd
Sam Elliot was unbelievable in that opening scene…as iconic as his voice is, he portrayed so much emotion without speaking a word!
If Taylor Sheridan has a masterpiece, this is it.
This show was amazing. Elsa was the heart of 1883. You are in for a ride and make sure you have tissues.
If it's a western, Sam Elliott doesn't even have to audition. He's automatically the lead.
Ive never had tears pouring down my face in any during any movie or show I have ever watched but this show did me in
so glad you’re starting this series!! i was hooked from the first ep
Claire is James Duttons sister, and the actress is the same person who is Sarah Atwood in Yellowstone
She is also in Lioness which is another amazing show Taylor created.
Wait is she not the wife's sister?
@FireAndBlood96 no she's a Dutton either by blood or marriage
@@FireAndBlood96 No, James' Dutton is her borther; so she's Elsa's aunt.
@ItsMeWendyvee Damn when I watched 1883 myself I thought she was the mothers sister and even thought they did a great job of getting two actresses that could pass as sisters. She'd still be Elsa's aunt if she was the mothers sister lol 😅

Yall are in for a treat, I love this and 1923. Cant wait to see your guy reaction 😂😂
This show is great in presenting both the romance and the utter brutality of that time period. It's really well written and acted.
16:37 ladies and gentlemen the very first John Dutton.
Pay attention to him in 1923.
I ususally wait for a series to be finished before I watch it. 1883 was the first thing in a long while that I had to watch each episode weekly. I wasn't going to wait.

I watched this with my dad and we both cried a lot. Sam Elliott is amazing in this!
So glad you two are reacting to this next! The writing in this show is really next level. Sheridan does it again!!
Sam Eliot just being amazing as usual.
There's a reason why they are called prequel, we are watching this now with the knowledge of what happens to the ranch 😢

I’m so happy you guys are finally reacting to 1883!!! I love this series so much!

OMG it's about time to see 1883!! Trying to be patient waiting for this to get posted.......YOU WILL LOVE IT!!
yay! it's here... been waiting for you guys to release this!!!!

Yeah!! My favorite mini series of the whole Yellowstone saga! You’re gonna love it!
The show is an incredible supporting story for Yellowstone. There will be many characters that will remind you of other Yellowstone characters.

This Soundtrack is killing me everytime. Brian Taylor is such a genious
6:34 Shae and Thomas is the tag team you need in a show like this. You'll see.
1883 is AWESSOME! It's so brutal and yet beautiful at the same time. This should have been a longer series.
Hey y'all I love ya content and watched Yellowstone with you guys and it was just the best. Now this! Oh my goodness ty for sharing

Ooh it's going to so much fun watching the two of you going through this journey.
In my opinion, the greatest western show. Only people who would say Lonesome Dove may reply. Isabel May is stunning.
Lonesome Dove.
@@Head-ck4hu American Primeval is better
I appreciated the tutorial for the Oregon Trail video game.

i really liked this show and the teenage girls character arch it was an emotional ride
So glad you're doing this show and I'm hoping that you'll also do 1923. The new season of that starts tomorrow. Great shows ❤
It doesn't start till February
"Brutal." That's a good word to describe this series. But it's also beautiful.

Elisa is 1883's version of Beth Dutton.
More like she's what Beth would've been if she would've being raised in a healthier environment with non-toxic parents.

The best western with Sam Elliott is with Tom Selleck called The Shadow Riders.
For me, better than Yellowstone.

Strap in tight! This is a great little series.
Omg I am STOKED for this reaction. ❤
Oh dear lord, I cried soooo many times watching 1883, so make sure you have some tissues ready.
Ive rewatched this show atleast 3 times. So much better than the whole Yellowstone story.
A younger Sam Elliot is in a movie called Mask with Cher. You would love it.
Such a great, tragic movie.
See where Beth inherited her 'toughness' from?
“Defending their land I get it” hahahaha
Never could get into Yellowstone, but the prequel series is fantastic
I Loved the prequel I wish there were a few more seasons leading them further into the lore...
Absolutely love this particular series. It’s right up there with Lonesome Dove imo
Love this show, especially Elsa's narration takes it to another level. The fact that is has a beginning and an end probably kept Taylor Sheridan's writing in check, no weird unfinished storylines as far i can remember (Yellowstone wolve collars, airplane bomb to name a few)

I think Clare is James sister.
You are correct
Definitely
She is.
She is also Jamie’s girlfriend in Yellowstone 😂

Yes, Elsa is a perfect narrator. She is clearly not interested in being the kind of woman she is expected to be and I love that for her.
Sooo glad you’re watching this!!

Please review Landman you will LOVE it !!!
Absolutely Agree... A must see 👍😎
IMO this series is even better than the staple Yellowstone program.
Yes. Finally. For me the greatest Yellowstone series
The cowboys are the best! Amazing how dangerous the road was. What a great series!

This is the best of the Yellowstone prequel you will see a lot of Yellowstone actors! My favorite actor is Elsa or as we call her Beth Jr. 🤠✌️😅
I just watched the trailer for Season 2 of 1923, Taylor Sheridan has created his own MCU but with Cowboys. The CBU!
