Heh, I remember 15 year old me going on a pizza and movie date and this was the film that happened to be showing in our town's local cinema. (Cinemas often only had one screen back then kids...) Both of us were being eyed suspiciously, due to our age, as I bought tickets and popcorn. The film exceeded what we were expecting, spent more time talking about it than eating pizza afterwards.(I've also worn Hawaiian shirts daily ever since, and have a certain monologue memorised.)
The Moors story Walken and Hopper go back and forth on that Tarentino wrote is actually a story Quentin's black step dad used to tell him growing up as a kid. Quentin talks about after this film came out, he took his step dad to go see it and he couldn't stop laughing and loving the scene. His step dad joked saying he stole that whole part from him, but then told QT he did a good job and good on him because people need to know. Lol. Which is hilarious in itself. RIP Quentin's step dad
If you can't figure it out, the character of Clarence is Tarintino. He wrote about himself. From Elvis, the comic book store, and the Shaw Brother's Kung Fu movies from the 70s. Val Kimler was Elvis. Tony Scott cut all of the scenes where they show his face.
The cast is stacked even in the deleted scenes: At the end of the Kung-fu marathon, an usher comes in to order people out and clean up. That usher is Jack Black. :)
During the fight scene with Drexl, I just got this ICONIC 90s flashback about the big tv with all the video tapes stacked around it. Back then that was frikken CHOICE!! You could actually watch your favorite movie as many times as you want lol. I sometimes miss that simplicity.
The Sicilian scene is one of my favorite movie scenes ever. Dennis Hopper's character knows he's going to die no matter what. He also knows that he wasn't a great father to his son as he should have been. So he felt he owed him by sacrificing himself to save his son's life. Unfortunately these mobsters were smarter than the average criminals. Still the insult Dennis Hopper says to them for Italians even today will spark a fight. I've seen it done many times. I personally think people shouldn't be saying such insults nor should people care at all what people say about them.
Aye. Dad knew he would end up talking. He knew his only way out was to piss the boss off so much that he would emotionally short circuit and kill the only lead he had at the time. Not for nothing. He died heroically after an apparently dismal life.
@@markharmon4963 No matter what he wouldn't give up his own son. He preferred to skip to the end and die. That way his son would be safe and he finally proved how much he loved his son. It almost worked to.
@vincecommando7575 Torture by professionals is rough; we always talk in the end. I think we agree that suicide by insult was Dad's only way to avoid the truth of their destination getting out of his lips. Yes, unfortunately/naively, Clarence left a forwarding address.
@@markharmon4963 Not necessarily. No more how professional they are or how professional they think they are. Dennis Hopper's character could have just as easily kept lying to them until they said fuck it and killed him anyway. Which is always how it ends with people in that position. Regardless whether they talk or not.
@vincecommando7575 That is what we are saying. He chose to protect his son and new daughter-in-law by finding the only available exit. It was the best chance he had of them not getting the information the sought. If Dad doubted his own strength, why wouldn't you doubt it.

Elliot was played by Bronson Pinchot, he's good at comedy. He has a great small part in "Beverly Hills Cop." You should see Patricia Arquette in David Lynch's "Lost Highway"( 1997 ), she plays two roles.
Haven't started the video yet but I'm very excited. Whoever recommended this for you to watch is an awesome person or group of people. I still remember my best friend could not shut up about this movie and finally talked me into watching it. I was and still am a big sci fi nerd and a movie titled True Romance did not sound like anything a 16 year old me wanted to watch. Turns out i was very wrong and loved it immediately. Such a great movie with an amazing cast!
Its a tarantino script from his early days, before he did resevoir dogs. Its about his own like, as a video store clerk, but his fantasy of what woupd his movie life story would be like. And Gary Oldman should have won an Oscar for this part as the pimp! But if u notice, a lot of these actors have been in tarantino movies!😮😮
There used to be smoking sections in restaurants and bars, were not smoke free at all. There were cigarette machines in the schools before this time, for the 18 year old seniors.
This film contains 3 scenes that are legendary . The Drexel/Clarence fight ,The Walken/Hopper dialog & The Gandolfini/Arquette fight . Great film with some weak spots .
Thanks for doing this one! Not many people do it! Another one that not many people do that Tarantino helped write but didn't direct is Natural Born Killers! Check it out, there's no other movie like it!!
I sub to a few movie reactors and only 1 of them, at this point, has reacted to this gem. Ur the 2nd reactor who has reacted to this flick. (I subbed b/c u reacted to this) BTW - if u c a movie directed by someone w/the last name Scott, watch it. Tony and Ridley r fantastic. Ifn ur a dog lover ur gonna love Rommel.
This is as close to a perfect movie as you can get for my money. So much fun. Tony Scott, the director, was kind of known for that (Man on Fire, Domino, and The Last Boy Scout are a few of my personal favorites). There are times when I felt like they could've done more with the characters, but it's such an ambitious story with so much going on that it's easy to forgive. And after a few more Tarantino movies, you will DEFINITELY start to see his mark on things. I can't really explain it, but he just has this really off-beat way of dealing with the old unavoidable storytelling cliches. It doesn't always land, if I'm being perfectly honest, but it comes pretty close. And it's always creative.
This movie has a collection of great individual scenes by great actors. Gary Oldman's scenes were wild and he's always great. Walken and Hopper in the trailer. Gandolfini and Arquette in the motel room and the over the top shoot out at the end. Even though Slater is the main star and you're rooting for him, the supporting characters steal the show and make the movie great. JMHO.
I'll be truly impressed if she recognizes Val Kilmer the first time viewing this! The ending in Mexico finally pulls Hans Zimmer's score together. Read the credits and try to figure Val Kilmer's role.
What's the deal with Elvis? He's Elvis. What more explanation is needed? 😁 On a completely unrelated note, please react to 3000 Miles To Graceland (2001). 🤣
People aren’t nearly as into Elvis as much they used to be, which is understandable. This movie is 30 years old. When it came out, Elvis had only been dead 16 years. That would be like 2007 in today’s years. Lol
If I were to sort of my favourite 10 movies I’ve seen this would probably make the list. Phenomenal and the scene with Christopher Walken & Dennis Hopper is right up there with any scene I’ve seen. Crazy good. Like 10+ freakishly amazing performances in this movie

Love how QTs writing always has so much happening, but he let's you meet and learn so much about each character, that you can follow the story and root for them. Ty for watching this.
Tony Scott directed Top Gun, Days of Thunder, Crimson Tide, Domino, Man On Fire and many more. He's unfortunately passed but left us some great films. Man on Fire is an amazing movie with Denzel Washington, Dakota Fanning, and Christopher Walken.
Really enjoyed your reaction! Just one of the many great movies that reactors are too busy watching the same crowd pleasers, to discover & enjoy. Two wounded birds can actually be a very good, strong relationship. No, smoking in a theatre was never & will never be allowed. Alabama was just being little miss edgy, but then they weren't sitting very close to others in the theatre anyway. Seeing as how you seem to be open to movies that are more off the beaten path, here are some that I'd love to see catch on in the great Reactorverse: What's Up, Doc? (1972) (comedy) Magnolia (1999) (drama) Being John Malkovich (1999) (fantasy/dramady) Adaptation (2002) (dramady/romance) These are all fantastic movies, so pleeezz consider them! Namaste! 🙏🏻

The music/score/soundtrack grows on you as the movie goes, and if you watch it again, you'll love it. There's no other music that fits the story of this type of 'True Romance!' Throughout the whole film! And you would recognize the QT dialog if Tony Scott edited it, the way it was wrote. But it's still a great film!
I finally get all caught up on your channel after binging it for two weeks and you immediately watch one of my all-time favorite movies! This was a dream cast with so many of them having very small roles or even only one scene! Did you watch the credits to realize Val Kilmer was Elvis? I think Tarantino's writing style is all over this with the great dialog filled with pop culture references. You should read a bit about the making of the film, it would've been very different if Tarantino had directed it. Now back to our regular programing: when do you upload your MCU reactions? Now that I'm all caught up I'm wondering what the schedule is.
Hi and welcome aboard! I had no idea Val Kilmer was Elvis! As far as the schedule, it's actually a bit funky right now because I am in the middle of moving and also transitioning to a new editing/recording workflow soooo... you can expect a new MCU video this week, but I need to sit down and actually work out a new schedule for videos once I've got myself situated.
Nice. My number one alltime Tarantino movie. Yeah, yeah, I know, he didn't direct it, but I still count it...
Remember the Name of the Director: Tony Scott!!!!
So that scene and dialogue weren’t improvised as so many suggest for some strange reason.
Floyd, the one character pretty much responsible for the last third of the movie. If only he wasn't good at giving directions.
Seriously!!
17:31 He didn't leave his license in a dead guys hands. Drexel handed it to Marty and he put it on a table.
My favourite movie of all time when it first came out in 1994 I was 22 it just blew me away, great cast great director great storyline just great everything in my eye's.I have personally seen it well over 130 + times and that's no lie another one of Tony Scott's movies is ENEMY OF THE STATE if you haven't seen it ,it's another one his masterpieces that's well worth a watch.great reaction by the way from Brisbane Australia
Elliot was played by Bronson Pinchot, he's good at comedy. He has a great small part in "Beverly Hills Cop."
You should see Patricia Arquette in David Lynch's "Lost Highway"( 1997 ), she plays two roles.
Gary oldman is awesome in that role.
Such a great movie with an amazing cast!
hey friend! Yeah it was definitely nothing that I imagined it would be. I was expecting a romantic drama, but it's MUCH MORE than that!
The original Tarantino ending (featured in the "Tarantino cut" and a deleted scene from Reservoir Dogs make a very definite link between both films.
This film contains 3 scenes that are legendary . The Drexel/Clarence fight ,The Walken/Hopper dialog & The Gandolfini/Arquette fight . Great film with some weak spots .
Weak spots?
Tony Scott. The Last Boy Scout. First movie I ever saw Halle Berry in.
Thanks for doing this one! Not many people do it! Another one that not many people do that Tarantino helped write but didn't direct is Natural Born Killers! Check it out, there's no other movie like it!!
Well, it was truly... romantic?? Great reaction!!
Cristy , THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU ! Love this movie and ! haven't seen others react to it.
Others have reacted to it
I sub to a few movie reactors and only 1 of them, at this point, has reacted to this gem.
Ur the 2nd reactor who has reacted to this flick. (I subbed b/c u reacted to this)
BTW - if u c a movie directed by someone w/the last name Scott, watch it. Tony and Ridley r fantastic.
Ifn ur a dog lover ur gonna love Rommel.
I'm about to watch Gladiator in February!
Tony Scott was a beast director. RIP to him.
On a completely unrelated note, please react to 3000 Miles To Graceland (2001). 🤣
People aren’t nearly as into Elvis as much they used to be, which is understandable. This movie is 30 years old. When it came out, Elvis had only been dead 16 years. That would be like 2007 in today’s years. Lol

Elvis is alive.
@@positivelynegative9149 Elvis died on my 5th birthday, and his soul passed into me.
Great reaction video! Loved it!
If I were to sort of my favourite 10 movies I’ve seen this would probably make the list. Phenomenal and the scene with Christopher Walken & Dennis Hopper is right up there with any scene I’ve seen. Crazy good. Like 10+ freakishly amazing performances in this movie
incredible movie one of my favorites!
i only watched the Walken scene. Classic!
Loved your reaction I love QT movies it's this is one of my favorites Great writing, and perferfect casting as always. FYI Val Kilmer played Elvis who is Clerances alter ego !
Elvis, the toddler at the end, is Patricia’s real life son. I used to party with him back in the mid 20-teens. Crazy kid. Loves his DMT. Lol.
The music choice is a reference to the film Badlands, which has similar themes and plot, and the soundtrack is almost identical.
this is one of my favorite movies. you got my subscribe for this one.
One of my favourite films growing up. Watched it 100s of times 🤦♀️
Can't believe it's 30 years old now. Sure does make me feel old 😢
I forgot Tom Sizemore was in this!!!👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Really enjoyed your reaction!
Seeing as how you seem to be open to movies that are more off the beaten path, here are some that I'd love to see catch on in the great Reactorverse:
What's Up, Doc? (1972) (comedy)
Magnolia (1999) (drama)
Being John Malkovich (1999) (fantasy/dramady)
Adaptation (2002) (dramady/romance)
These are all fantastic movies, so pleeezz consider them!
Namaste! 🙏🏻
CHRISTOPHER PENN, SEAN'S BROTHER IS COP...

Great Movie, Great Cast, Great Director, Great Performances By Everyone In This Movie 👍 & Great Reaction To This Great Movie Sweetheart
True romance was definitely a classic film for me one of my favorites. Also, the Sicilian movie scene is also written in the script for many Saints of Newark
Tarantino wrote it. Sold to make "Reservoir Dogs"👍🏼CHRISTOPHER WALKEN IS IN MANY FILMS " THE DEER HUNTER" WON HIM AN OSCAR!!❤❤❤❤
"DEAD ZONE" EXCELLENT!!!!👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
So Christopher Walken was my favorite actor. RN my favorite is Ben Mendelsohn but for years it was Walken. Will you please react to The Woman in Red with Gene Wilder? And also Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. The one with Daniel Craig. Great channel
I think they kept using the Hans Zimmer song You're so cool to convey that no matter what happened she just thought he was cool and loved him... just my take on it!
CHRISTOPHER WALKEN is the Sicilian with Clarence dad, DENNIS HOPPER.❤❤👍🏼👍🏼❤❤👍🏼👍🏼❤❤
Hi. New to your channel. Dropped in specifically because of this film! One of my all time favorites!
Hey!! Welcome to the party:)
Surprising choice ! Very cool !
brad pitt, Sam L Jackson, and christopher walken who stared in true romance , they would then later star in QT’s written, directed and produced films
Sam L Jackson and Chistopher walken star in Pulp Fiction (1994)
brad pit stars in In QT’s Inglourious bastaerds (2009) as well as QT’s Once upon a time in hollywood (2019)
MASTERPIECE!!!!!
Love as only Tarantino can do😊
The music/score/soundtrack grows on you as the movie goes, and if you watch it again, you'll love it. There's no other music that fits the story of this type of 'True Romance!' Throughout the whole film!
And you would recognize the QT dialog if Tony Scott edited it, the way it was wrote. But it's still a great film!
One of the greatest movies I have ever seen
Playing it kind of loosey goosey during this transitional period!
Hit the notification bell so you can be notified when the videos are up so you won't miss one :)
And NO, no one was allowed to smoke in a theater in the 90's. At least no theatre I ever went to.
