The 'storm' had not reached all of Asia yet.
Had lady M when I was in Singapore and it was on of the best cakes I've tasted so far! Not too sweet and not too bland that you would miss out the flavor of the cake.
I went to Lady M with my Chinese friend in NYC last year and the cake was very delicious. But to be honest it’s nothing too special either. I’ve lived in Japan and have had many layered cakes exactly like this and I’ve also found many notable others here in the states. In the end I think it’s just like everything else when it comes to branding and hype culture where people willingly line up for an expensive food item mostly because of the brand. I’m not saying I won’t take other friends there either to try for themselves this winter break. Support all businesses who deliver what they promise.
Absolutely! This cake shop is making people happy 😃! Please come to open your business in Australia 🇦🇺
a slice of cake that can cost you nearly $9 and cost as much at $20 for a slice of cake and a coffee. I dont see how the owner is not happy. The Singapore outlet is pretty much cooled down from the hype, guess too costly for people to enjoy.
And I have never heard of it before. I am more familiar with Bengawan solo, prima deli and Angie the choice, if it is still around
I only waited 0 minutes because there was no line, and I live in America! 😂
@Arachnicution does being a bubble tea enthusiast counts?
Had my first lady m crepe in sg last week, was surprisingly average. Like the cheap crepe cake I can get from my local cake store..
I agree!
I just enjoyed their drinks! 😂
Had their strawberry shortcake as my birthday cake! So yummy!
Love it. I had it in lower nyc
In south east asia, it was popular once upon a time. Now nobody eats it. And that was like 6-8years ago. From the title, exactly which part of asia by storm? As far as I know, even taiwan korea or japan this crepe cake isn't selling well anymore. Might obviously be a paid publicity to scmp
Similar to kue lapis indonesia, a layer cake that very expensive . The layer has a meaning on it. Meaning every layer is representing every years success in life.
It started to served and populars amongs chinese indonesia community at the beggining.
The cake that influences by european dutch cake. Mostly served in chinese indonesia new year or eid mubarak idul fitry amd christmas time.
But it taste different, it does not taste like cake at all, more like crepes with cream
I went to the one in HK and it was amazing!
your cake is magical
Looks so yummy 😋
Diabetes level 500 just watching it. Imagine eating it! :P
Always wanted to try a crepe cake. I had a raindrop cake recently that was really cool (when I say recently I mean like 6 months ago XD) anyways looks nice.
You totally should make it! I’ve made it 2 times so far, and they turned out delicious.
They're mostly whipped cream, which is tasty of course, but not as special as they make it sound.
@@cSedx00022 can you please tell me which recipe you used?
Am I the only one that doesn’t like Lady M.... plus it’s not like they introduced crepe cakes...
I love their cake i eat today
Japanese paper thin crepe, macha, looks delicious! This is a special food.
Wow so yummy cake .I like it.
1:39 you think it's Kung Fu Panda's Dad talking. Mr. Ping!!!
Never heard of it. Maybe targeted at the rich folks
Sean The hype is mainly young adults (uni and professionals) from middle-class families. -> regarding China. Not rich but definitely not poor.
@@Jason-wp2nq I mean in Singapore. I totally not familiar with the brand. So probably it was targeted at the rich. It was indeed quite expensive per whole cake, above 100 SGD
@@SuccessforLifester 68-75 yuan per slice in China. So not cheap at all. To put in perspective, minimum wage in Beijing is 24 yuan per hour, Shanghai 22 yuan. Second tier cities approx 18 yuan per hour, slowly down the hierarchy we'll find county level cities with 10 yuan per hour. It is only consumed by middle class in richer cities in China. (not everywhere).
@@Jason-wp2nq Thanks for sharing Jason. I think the price in Sg is also above 10 Sgd a slice.
There are a few beautiful outlets in singapore with beautiful cakes. These crepe cakes were really cloud like!! You should tryyy. Im still thinking about it after my first slice 😂
Asians really like this sort of thing because it comes off as very light.
Actually, there are many Cake shops in Shenzhen now. And weight exploded compared to 2013 when I first was here
First kiss!
Video 26 I guess
wot
Well done my friend .Thanks
Love love it but expensive
isn't like 95 for 9 inch
I’m not really sure but I heard Lady M is branded as Paper Moon here in the Philippines.
I had Green Tea Mille Crêpes from Lady M.. it was 8 dollar a slice. After eating, I felt like I ate a stick of butter.
I like to buy Lady M for holidays and as a gift. I've never had any authentic Crepes besides here. But I love that you can tell it's very japanese by the subtleness of sweetness and the fresh organic flavors. It's really delicious and I haven't stopped thinking about it since I first tried it.
You try to give the video more brightness it will be great if you do
wow
Very nice 👍
Cost?
“ one thousand layer cake “
China : write that down !
Ah China, always the unique one when it comes to innovation. See when other Asians aside of Chinese created something that is slightly similar to other people's creations, they will say the others inspired them to create that thing, and it is accepted by everyone in the end. China Chinese on the other hand.....
What
Btw, layered cake already exist in Indonesia, Singapore and Malaysia (my country). It's called kek lapis. So who's writing down who's ideas now?
@@zennoix9984 yay malaysian!
千层饼。
My dad also have a crepes cake shop
@@ethank8362 Umm ... it is in Myanmar ... called Auora
any plans to open in India?
Looks delicious my friend let's eat
Overpriced!
Is it weird that I can't remember my first kiss😕😕
How do I order?
its expenive
$9/slice... not including tax and tip yet
How do you know the first bite is cloud like? have you bitten into a cloud before?
Yummy cake let's eat
IDK it seems I already saw it in a tasty video ?
i live in LA i did try all flavor they have , they just ok ,not sweet enough and over prices
Hi my friend great video
Lady Mellitus.
I really wanted to try it, until I saw the price lol. Ain't no cake worth that much.
Similar as layered cake aka kek lapis? But different techniques and implementation
I eat Lady M every week. It is so great.
It tastes just ok for me .... probably wouldn't buy again
He has nice english.
Idiot lol he grew up in America...
Their coffee is even better! Try a hot caffe latte without sugar.. you’ll thank me : )
Lapis legit
It looks like the Indonesian kueh lapis (layer cake).
But kueh lapis is without the cream.. 🤭

Too much happiness can also lead to diabetes, cardiac arrest, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and many more highs..
Paper Moon
Do you want the best cake? Go to Europe
Agree
@@ezraksatrya6424 Don 't think so.
Another boba tea craze? As with any first kiss, it will fade away.
Vikingdom I don’t know where you live but boba tea love is mad in north west London. In china there’s an entire new market for bubble tea now -one of the most popular is 喜茶, it has somehow surpassed even costa and starbucks in popularity. It takes like half an hour to get a drink but everyone lines up for one lol. Suppppper expensive too. But, people think it’s worth it for the teas. I’m just concerned at how think the plastic lining is for the cups they use, there’s no need to have it that thick I mean do they expect ppl to be thrashing them around the pavements or something. Most people don’t care though when I mentioned it 😞 ah well. These things take time.
@@MoonlightWalnut Boba Is overrated
I love Lady M! I first tried it in Singapore and it does melt in your mouth. But we should give justice to the right pronounciation of Crepe tho. (not Craype)
I am from Indonesia and never heard about this brand 🤨
They don't have shop in Indonesia. But you can find mille Crepes almost everywhere in Indonesia with different brands
singapor,hk,taiwan,mainland...
elu dimananya bro...?
Tried it in China, was nothing special. These fancy places are sold on presentation, status and trendiness. They attract that kind of customer.
just go to China its so cheap for this yummy ckae
Very very about HK index cfds...Keep watch for big money
Great cake 🍰! It will be copied and improved here in China
Is that what china does? Copy and “improve?” 😂
@@alfiey5783 i.e. BBK Electronics, Tencent Holdings, Xiaomi. C'mon bro catch up with the times 😉
tileavenue 😂 so xiaomi is better than apple....
Tencent is better than google.... haha! Trying to Bro! But you seem to be in the wrong time...!
@@alfiey5783 young Yeung, don't let your adapted motherland give you a false sense of superiority. this is the dawn of China and Chinese ppl. ABC, CBC catch up or go kick it with them HKers
@@tileavenue6911 Spoken like a true Chinese. This is why there is 0 innovation in China. Why would anyone want to innovate knowing their product will be copied and sold for much more by a bigger company?
This cake is $120 with shipping. Crazy, but I got one for my mother
Too creamy for me... 1 slice will fill you up...
and here i prefer asian bakeries because they r not so sickly sweet
Asia needs cheese
Dafuq about copycat I have been having this more than 10 years ago
Yeahh
But why did they become so popular
Bruh you dense or what? They referring to China's copycat culture. Apple but the apple is bitten on the other side? KFC but Obama Fried Chicken? Starbucks but Buckstar? Basically China businesses using popular names/logos but changing it slightly. That's why he mentioned Lady ABC.
this dude definitely eats from his own supply. just look at him
It would take a person with great self-control to not indulge if s/he/they were in charge of a famously delicious dessert business.
Lucky him.
Are these two eating too much cake?
it's RMB88 for one piece.. y'all already being paid minimum wage stop
Like legit a Starbucks barista makes RMB14 an hour. That's less than 2 dollars USD. Even though China's street food and goods are cheap that's pretty bad
This is chinese 千层饼
its different. Its not really cake actually. Its layers of crepes with cream.
Just so you know, I'm opening a bakery next door called Lady N. Our specialty will be a layered cake, and we'll be focusing on ourselves, not other similar sounding businesses.
I thought they are machine-made just to fill 7 NYC stores, and US mail orders. Arrr.... 1:30 I don’t want it anymore.
I ate lady M last week. I don't like it.
Very Old news.
i hate crepe cakes and tHEY aren't the original btw
Nobody:
oh look... Indonesian claiming their culture again... give credits to Indonesia please
Millenial craze!!! So shallow...
Ok boomer
Indonesians already eat layered cakes for many decades. This is just a copycat idea
@Randall 45 why would they protect something that's not really their own invention. Like the Japanese trying to copyright the curry.
first off its not even cake, so dont see how they copycat it.
Looks like copied from Kueh Lapis from Indonesia.
