Please, WestJet is the second largest airline in Canada. They were concerned first and foremost with the costs they would have incurred daily if the planes were grounded. The little guy still doesn't matter and never will.

@@grindsmore Try second largest airline in Canada, not the world.

I was flying to Canada with a layover in Rome and I only found out about the cancellation of my flight when I arrived in Rome. The company knew there would be a strike, why did they continue to sell tickets? They wouldn't put me on another flight, they wouldn't provide me with accommodation, I was told I had to find my own accommodation and WestJet would reimburse me if it was up to CAD 500, but this is Italy 500 is two meals, hotel rooms start at USD 650 , everything is very expensive. And I'm not talking about disrupted meetings and ruined plans in Canada (

Was flying to Australia and the first leg is WestJet, over worrying about the strike,I ended up with a panic attack and cancelled the whole trip 😢, but I’m glad its settled.

Wow..thats a big pay raise. A lot of people with years of experience are getting jobs reclassified and being down graded. Which means down graded in pay. Atco Electric laid off 15 to 25 year employees and Nancy Southern (westjet's neighbor in Calgary) now says her company needs to import newcomers to "fill the skills gap". How many people will be flying in 10 years as jobs are getting removed from the workforce ?

Well done Alexis! Sucks for anyone that had flights cancelled but you did what you had to do given the circumstances. It wasn't ideal but at least a full strike was avoided.

I say give the good hard working people a raise and fire the lazy people.
I know you can't do that with unions....
Especially know that it's so hard to get any workers.
