Went night fishing with the old man years ago to port Logan canny hike from Durham but worth the memory’s thanks for putting this on I think I need to go back
That whole coast around the Mull of Galloway and around the Solway coast is my heartland. Such a fantastic when the wind & rain have a holiday . Glad you had a good trip, hope it's not your last, there's plenty more coves just waiting you.
I love it around there, I had a cracking session there in November. It chucked it down and blew a hooley the night before but cleared up beautifully as forecast for one day. Had some lovely fish out. this is MrBear from florida glad you had a good trip. was going to go out this week and we have 10to15mph with thunder storms, im going to have to take fishing lessons.
I could do with taking the SIB over there, the last time was on the kayak a good few years ago and it was a good trip, your never quite sure what you'll catch next 👍.
Love your videos. I’m just getting started in sea kayaking, doing my research now. Ready for next spring. Would you be able to make a review on the differences with the sturgeon & supernova? I watched both build videos. But would like to hear your opinions about them both. also your full gear/kit/setup you take with you. People love setup videos and personal opinions and it also helps massively for others like myself getting started.
Hi Paul, thanks very much I’m glad you’re enjoying the content. Yes a set up vid has been on my radar for a while it’s just a case of finding the time. I’m not sure if I’d do a specific side by side with the supernova and the sturgeon as there’s not that much between them other than the size/weight but if you have any questions just fire away. It’s an amazing way to fish and I’m sure you’re gonna love it 👍🎣
@@onthedropfishing hey thanks. Well the supernova is more then double the price of the standard sturgeon. Would you say the price difference is worth it for the pedals? What other main difference adds to this price tag. what’s the main difference between the sturgeon and the sturgeon HV. Is it just the heigher seat position? Would you say it would be more beneficial to someone who has bulging disc and sometimes suffer from sciatica. (I know you can’t offer medical advice, just personal opinion) A gear setup video would be great! I have been writing down some of your setup I’ve seen you write to other people in comments 🙂
Honestly it depends what you want. I personally prefer pedal (flipper drive sturgeon and prop drive supernova) to paddling but it’s different for everyone. The supernova is a big beast and I use it when the launch is straight forward like a slip. I take the sturgeon if I don’t know the area as it’s lighter and easier to launch/put on the van 👍
@@liam4169 first and last time I’ve lost anything of the yak, I’m a religious leasher myself however I was just adjusting the drift by a few yards and when I turned around to get my rod….. 🥲
Look how calm that water is at the beginning of the video! Blissful tranquility right there. One question. Does it not get to hot in the drysuit with the hot weather we’ve been getting?
It wasn't too bad yesterday Paul, it was a little chilly if anything, there was a bit of a frett in the morning. I've been hot but never massively uncomfortable...yet! 👍🎣
Hi mate that’s just the way it’s anal fin runs. It’s prominent on this one as It has a particularly white underside. I can see what you mean though. If you watch on a larger screen you’ll see. Tight lines mate 👍🎣
Cool session there Chris! How are you finding the supernova v sturgeon? Never had a flipper or prop drive and am considering these along with a feelfree lure 13.5.
Hi mate, I like them both a lot. I suppose the only thing you need to factor in is that the supernova is considerably bigger and therefore heavier. I personally prefer the prop drive on the Supernova but prefer the chuckaboutability of the sturgeon. If I’m going to an unfamiliar or a difficult launch for example I’ll take the sturgeon. If it’s a straight forward down a ramp job I’ll take the nova. Hope that helps 👍🎣
How are you finding this heat buddy. I live 3 mins from the beach. Weirdly it doesn't seem to have any difference to the fishing. Sunny day are fishing like choppy, overcast days. Just weird. I'm Cornwall based
Hi Andy, the heat doesn’t really make that much of a difference up here to be honest as the water will always be relatively cool and there isn’t that much in the way of surface fishing anyway, Well certainly not on my stretch of coast but over west it can have an effect, but again like you I haven’t noticed it. Is it just the bass fishing it normally effects down your way? 👍🎣
Well done on another great video, good to see such a mix bag of fish. Would you ever consider doing a video on read the fishfinder .ie showing what good ground looks like ect.. Thanks again.
Thanks mate, it was a lush day. Don’t think I would do an entire FF vid but I do often whip my phone out to show people what I’m over. In fact I’m over some very rough ground tomorrow so you’ve given me an idea. Tight lines David 👍🎣
Hi Chris great video I've just bought supernova thanks for the discount👍 I just mounted transducer do I need to mount protective cover? it will not interfere with scanning?
Great video again, I enjoy the west coast videos. As I’m pretty new to kayak fishing I was wondering what’s your rules for wind? What would be your limit for forecast speeds? I have been using 10mph average and 15mph gusts which has massively limited my time out. Cheers
Do you eat a bit of fish Chris? I have to say most mine go back, I like a bit of cod, but when you think the head is a 3rd of the body is the head, it has to be a good size before I'd take its life, kayak fishing saved my life mate, a mile off you can hear nothing, glad I don't go with you, you never shut up 🤣🤣🤣
Yes I love a bit of cod but like you I enjoy seeing them go back. I love being out there…I still talk to myself even when the cameras aren’t on! I often ask myself the question, who exactly are you talking to? 🤣🎣
Thanks mate, it was a race to get there and beat the wind. I knew I only had a short window early on the Friday. It absolutely bucketed down that night 👍🎣
LOOKS LIKE A CRACKING DAY CHRIS!!!

Another great episode Chris with a good variety of fish. That cracking Pollock and the equally beautiful Haddock. Nice job pal.
