"I am as far beyond mutants as mutants are beyond humans."
Apocalypse is awesome!
Definitely top 3 apocalypse lines
I hate to sound like a nerd but the Quote is, “I am far beyond mutants as they are of you. I am eternal!!!”
He must have not known scarlet witch.
"I am the rocks of the eternal shore, crash against me and be broken." i
You did a hell of a job putting this together. Because his history is vastly convoluted
Had Wolverine and The X-Men gotten a second season then we would've seen the Age of Apocalypse storyline unfold.
UGH what a let down huh?!
Man Apocalypse was THE SHIT in the 90's!!! - Apocalypse, The Juggernaut, Magneto, Sabertooth Omega Red... the 90's cartoon did SOOOO RITE by these characters, their looks- the voice actors... God that 90's vibe!!!
I still remember watching the cartoon every Saturday morning and then taking my allowance and going straight to the comic shop - which I was too young to really read and understand the comics, but THE CARDS?!?!
92- the jim Lee set (which I was too young to understand the Jim Lee importance, but still such a awesome and iconic set, even to a 7 yrold. I'm STILL wondering who the fuck MOJO ll is Lolo)
then the 93 set!- the cards based off of the cartoon (FUCKING AWESOME!!!!!!l l)...
AND THEN 94 the first fleer ultra set- THIS SET WAS SO ICONIC, THEY'RE MAKING RECENT CARD SETS IN THE SAME STYLE CUZ THAT SET DID SO WELL!
FUCK I LOVED X-MEN IN THE EARLY TO MID 90's!! Everything went downhill right around when the onslaught story came out- AT THE TIME, it had SO MUCH POTENTIAL.. . Seeing The juggernaut scared?! And then seeing him get fucked up by a mystery character... SO MUCH POTENTIAL. But it allllll went down hill not just a few months later. The onslaught story went down hill, BUT WORSE, the ARTWORK OF THE LATE 90's SUUUUUUCKED big fat floppy donkey deek!! Even at DC... it's like marvel and DC were copying each other to keep the art work similar but it was SOOOO shitty back then.
And YES I know everyone makes fun of the super jacked up characters with all the pouches in the early 90's artwork- Rob Liefeld, BUT THATS the artwork that the 90's cartoon based itself off so in my opinion early/mid 90's artwork will forever be ICONIC. The late 90's tho... it just all seems SUPER CARTOONY in a way I can't describe- other than it's just DIFFERENT AND SHITTIER than the early -mid 90's artwork.
And then post millennium came and the goofy cartoony artwork FINALLY died out a bit and we started getting better styles like Jim Lee's hush artwork, or the art work found in House of M- I know Bendis wrote it, I forget the artist off the top of my head (morelli? Moore?- I KNOW it wasn't Alan Moore but was it another Moore? I'm trying to think of the names on the cover and spine of the HC book... anywho... and then shortly after that we got that really cool computer generated art work found in the X-force and Messiah war... THAT was a good era!!!
BUT ONCE AGAIN right after second coming the X-men moved to San Fran/Utopia and the whole story line just got too Alphabeteresque for me (YES! I KNOW THE X-men are all about equality and shit, but it's COOL when u use MUTANTS as an allegory... It's TOO on the nose for me when every other mutant is either something like PIXIE, OR a straight up Alphabeter.... GAAAAY!)
I'm good!!! ... I walked away and haven't really been back since!
Hickman STARTED strong but QUICKLY went no where I wanted to follow- ESPECIALLY since you had to read ALLLLLL of the monthly x titles if you wanted to make sense of any ONE of them.. even the 5th or 6th volume of the solo wolverine title- which ever number we were at when Wolverine's solo title kicked off in line with Hickmans x-men run... but even THAT wolverine solo series- THEY WILL NEVER be able to sell it in a collected format simply by itself (I mean, I know they will, cuz it's all about the money to them, BUT THEY SHOULDN'T cu those issues of wolverine collected and read together in order just by themselves make NOOOO SENSE!!) By issues 4 or 5 the reader realizes these early issues MAY have a tiny thread of a story line connecting them, but it's NOT MUCH of a thread and there is SOOOO MUCH OTHER SHIT GOING ON, THERES NO WAY a reader could just that ONE wolverine title and make sense of it, you have to read ALLLL the monthly titles... Hickman's RUN WAS NOTHING BUT A CASH GRAB FOR MARVEL, who, at the same time was saying "Fuck our loyal readers and fans, SHOW ME THE MONEY!!!"
....
Damn I miss the 90's X-men!!!
@@trentgibson581 yes but no Selene or Exodus in 90's x-men
That last episode when apocalypse walked out on the platform😢 id pay PS5 numbers to see that second season😅
@@losvortex10 that's crazy I watched the wolverine and the x-men show and was REALLY disinterested in the first couple episodes that kinda replayed themselves as the last couple episodes only they included the payoff/end of the story- of how professor x went missing (if I remember correctly it was Jean/the Phoenix that had something to do with it)... I was SO disinterested in THOSE few episodes i don't even remember Apocalypse being at the end of it! Gotta go back and rewatch that last episode now!
@@trentgibson581 wait till you see who he walked out with brother

GOAT Mutant
'THIS CHANNEL IS EXCELSIOR' ..
For those unaware Rama Tut is a variant of Kang the Conqueror most recently seen in the lastest Ant-man movie at the end. Also Apocalypse is high level sorcerer he beat Morgan le fay
Dude that is a different universe 1999
I remember Rama was also a multiverse Doctor Doom too
@@CorbinLeonard-rp4etI mean, if they understand kang even the comicbook version should be there too, but it was probably just the movie version shown on screen
@@bigdaddydons6241 dude Kang died in the comics
And he still dead
What would have happened if we saw Apocalypse making his MCU debut in the Eternals movie as the first Mutant created by the Celestials?
If only the MCU had competent writers and producers
Can I just say that it must be funny for Selene whenever Apocalypse claims he’s the oldest mutant. Because she’s probably just looking at him whilst she’s sipping her wine and being smug.
Also, I’d love it if there were hieroglyphs on the walls of his stronghold from Ancient Egypt. Ones depicting this white lady in a black corset, stunning archaeologists for decades, with a cartouche at the bottom saying “Do not let this witch into my house”.
My favorite x-men villain
And this is the reason why I never got into comics very much.
Backstories are usually too convoluted. Too time loopy. Too non-linear.
And they keep getting added onto.
It's imagination run wild and loose.
Which I admire. But only somewhat.
My biggest personal problem with this, is it leaves little to know room for my own imagination to fill in blanks.
This is why the mysterious characters in any lore or fantasy tend to be the more popular characters.
But that really isn't the case ...normally the ones focused on the most and have the most back story and show time are the ones loved
And this is the reason why I stopped reading comics, coming from an older era where they were simpler and you didnt need to buy ten different comics the same months to understand what was hapening in one of them.
They are the equivalent of a cake done by a 7 years old: layers upon layers of everything he likes from ice cream to grilled cheese and it doesnt even fit the mouth.
And the same is already happening in movies, what people call super heros fatigue is just what you described.
I love these videos, you obviously put in a ton of time and effort.
It would be really awesome if the issue the panels were from were listed in the corner, would be a nice way to seek out comics to read.
Agreed
My favorite villian. XMAS was the 1st time i was introduced to Apocalypse. And ever since then ive waited for this day to find out his history thank you. This was put together very well.
Oh hell yeah let's do this

An incredible dissertation, thank you for sharing.
Thank you.
Great one you did on apocalypse you want top this one
This will always be one of the greatest channels ever just like how Apocalypse will always be the real first mutant.
I hope one day we see apocalypse achieve a level of godhood rising to at least equal the celestials.
na he his not
Apocalypse was never truly the first Mutant, comic wise Selene come out in New Mutants back in 1983. A good 3 years before Apocalypse appeared, and she's 12,000 years older then Apocalypse. I'm being the first Mutant is just his ego and all that. The whole him rising to the Patheon of the Celestials is actually apart of his greater plan. Yes he was brough up on the whole strongest survive, and his wife (a new add on to his history) had him to bring it to the world. Plus the Celestial choose him to shape the word and proper for their judgement. And from that he has been enhanced by the Celestials and keeps growing in power, and the Techno-Organic-Virus his body gets burnt out so he needs to go into stasis or find a new host body. So one of the reasons his been pushing everyone (mainly mutants) to evolve so he can find/create among them a perfect host and take his place among the Celestial. He revealed that to Cyclops in 1991's X-Factor vol 1 #68.

How many of you remember seeing Apocalypse in the 90s X-Men show? Do you think we could have seen him play a major role in Wolverine and the X-men if that show wasn't canceled? What do you think about Oscar Isaac bringing Apocalypse to live action in Fox's X-Men movies?
The fox movie version was not well done. Hopefully Apocalypse is brought back better in the MCU.
The first one was kind of horrible like all superheroes movies begin
I still prefer characters in comics and animated rather than live action films. Apocalypse is still one of my favorite villains .
That Wolverine and the X-Men season 2 was going to be legendary I just know it
Great video…….Thank you 🙏🏿
Best knowledge on marvel!!Well at least My favorite teacher!!
I just came across your channel.... Wow your videos are so well documented!!!! Great Stuff... Love it!!!! Thank You For the Great Videos... I am Binging on this channel......
Love the Channel! Sounds like an east coast Canada accent :) keep it up!
You do best with these characters that reach over multiple eras.
I always learn something new from this channel!
Great video!
'Nuff said!
I never knew about the origin of the first 4 horsemen...didn't even know he had kids...Thank You for this
Ein sabah en noor means the eye of morning light !!!
Awesome video. Can’t wait to watch it again because I can’t keep up with the lore.
Kang the Conqueror aka Rama Tut created Apocalypse!
Amazing video! Thank you!
Ohhhh yeahhh!!!!! Love this guy's content!
Loved your video. Would love to see a video on cabel ❤
Amazing 🤩
This was sweet 😊
Wow I really learned alot awesome 👌
Could we have a character review in order of the issue releases? Including creators on major arcs. That telling has such an appeal. Understanding the original character motives would shed light on the goofiness that appears in later issues.
Awesome made origins video if apocalypse
Great video
I've always wondered why he was made out of machines in the X-Men90's cartoon,
Now this finally makes me understand why he has those blue
Yesssssssss finally. I'm gonna join the patreon soon.
Nice
So much detail
Amazing origin 💯💜
Wolverine
🔥🔥🔥🔥
Can you do history of the characters mentioned in this video?
Are you going to do history of other X-Men villains like Master Mold, Nimrod, Mojo and the Shadow King?
Do you think you can do a video on The Brood?
In 1993 around the time Mr Sinister hinted to Cyclops he had Brothers not just Alex . In the Comics around this time there was a hint of 3 Characters who could be the Brother X- Treme , Gambit, Apocalypse where all hinted to be the brother the writer left book then later a whole new character was made and maded the brother Vulcan.
Do a video richard rider nova next
He already did that. You should ask him to do a video about Sam Alexander as Nova or a video about Nova villains like Titus
Best content ever!😄
Exodus next?
I remember being at GEPPIS waiting to get the earlier books of my favorite villain Apocalypse and Mr. Sinister,so underrated. Brings back so many memories. Have you done the Shi'ar guard?
You should do a video on deadpool it would be awesome like every other one of your videos
What would happen if we saw Apocalypse from the Fox's X-Men movies meeting Moon Knight in Avengers Secret Wars since they're both played by the same actor Oscar Isaac?
Interesting 🤔
every time i see apoc, i hear the voice from the 90s cartoon.
"I AM APOCALYPSE!!! TREMBLE BEFORE ME OR BE DESTROYED!!"
Graydon: a Mutant!?
Apocalypse: MUTANT?!!? I am far beyond them as they are beyond you, Insect!!
There is no freedom from me, there is only freedom THROUGH me!!
I am the Rock of eternal shore, crash against me, AND BE BROKEN!!
I bring the purity of oblivion to your world....
You are no more than a Babylonian with a stick!
"ANNOYING INSECT!!"
Proceed to one shot knock out Rogue.
I think Louise and Walter Simonson would be amazed at the convoluted backstory that has been revealed for Apocalypse. I'm pretty sure they didn't have any of this backstory in their heads when they created the character as a new villain for X-Factor.
How about video on RED NORVELL, the red headed Thor stand in.
As always, MAKE MINE THE MERRY MARVELITE!!!!
Another awesome video 📸📸 you should do the next ones on fellow X Men Sunspot, Havok and Bishop 💯☕
Could you do a video on annihilus
It's about time I've been trying to explain this to two of my friends for years I knew the truth😮
It wasn't Isis that En Sabah Nur saw but Anubis. Do your research(but you're spot on about so much so far so what gives?) It was the dark God Anubis he saw and that coupled with the emergence of his mutant abilities drove him insane. In fact, it was said in the very comic you're posting in the video that it was Anubis. Also, he could not telekinetically levitate after the manifestation of his mutant powers. When the oriental external levitated for him he said he could not "dismiss the shackles of this world(dismiss gravity)". And it has been revealed that Apocalypse has more than a passing knowledge of Sorcery. He was actually a very high level Mage and has written his own grimoire(which only masters of magic can do) and was Master of Mutant Magic in the ancient land of Okkara. One thing more, because I see it a lot on RUclips with content creators giving Apocalypse (and other mutants) more powers than they actually have Apocalypse is NOT a telepath or telekinetic. In no publication has him demonstrating either ability. Even a low level telepath can access the astral plane yet in the Onslaught Saga he needed Cable to bring him into the Astral plane and he even said that in the publication it happened in so no telepathy and even though he can simulate certain abilities telekinesis in it's pure mutant form he could never do so no telekinesis for him either. Please don't mix the cartoon version with the comic when you're discussing canon comic characters. Television (and Hollywood) takes a lot of liberties with comic characters(because they're disrespectful of canon and are ass wipes) and yeah, he levitated glowing like rainbow bright and gestured using telekinesis in the Wolverine and the XMen cartoon and that piece of shit movie he attacked and used Charles Xavier and fought AND JEAN EPICALLY HANDLED THAT ASS on the Astral plane but it's not comic Apocalypse. Ijs
Wow what a coincidence I was Just researching the guy for a fanfic what convenience
When was this comic published
Has there been a cartoon or anime of the complete origin story?
Nice:0)
Half way through the video and apocalypse sounds like magneto but to the absolute extreme on his ideals on mutants and humans
Dude, I looked up the origin of Apocalypse, and got this. It's taking too long to get to it.
Can you do history of Ironheart, Amatsu-Mikaboshi, Arno_Stark Iron Man, Squirrel_Girl, Constrictor, Deathlok, Amadeus_Cho, the Griever, Pepper Potts AKA Rescue and the Agents of Atlas along with Crescent, Morgan_Le_Fey, White Fox and Luna Snow?
It's amazing how well Marvel continuity tied together before modern day nonsense like Avengers BC and Krakoa. Just goes to show why having continuity experts like Roy Thomas and Mark Grunewald is so important.
What do you think is the best thing about Apocalypse in the comics compared to his Horsemen? Which one of his powers and abilities do you think is the best?
En-Sabah-Nur/Apocalypse :- Everything they built will fall and from the ashes of their world, we'll build a better one
The one mystery is his parents that has really never be revealed. Is there a possibility their celestial in origin themselves or future time travelers similar to Scott and Jean but each are aliens the Kree and possibly related to Mar-Vel family tree their son would have a mutant gen alike human genetics his abilities would have a greater impact on Kree DNA and this is why those space gods were so interested in him as Apocalypse? Apocalypse and his offspring of which there might be some that are off world to say amongst the Kree and Skrull and even say Inhumans, and and in the far distant future Apocalypse might inncounter the Guardian Of The Galaxies and possibly himself or his otherselves in the multiverse?
Can you do history of the Elementals(Hellfire, Magnum, Hydron and Zephyr), Bastion, Master Mold, Nimrod, Inferno, Zora_Vukovic Victorious, Night Nurse, Moondragon, Phyla_Vell and Genis-Vell along with the Supreme Intelligence, Puppet_Master, Diablo, Mole_Man and Angel/Archangel along with Exodus and Ex-Nhilo?
Can you do history of the Living_Brain, the Elementals, Cyclone, Hydro Man, Molten Man, Puck, Sandman, Rom_the_Spaceknight, Stingray, Quasar, Starbrand, Nightmask, Ava Ayala the White Tiger, Crossfire, Living Laser, Century, Lore and Technovore?
One time Apocalypse called me his son. I said “you don’t look like Vin Semi’s father”.
Can you do history of Master Pandemonium, Sleepwalker, D'Spayre, Lilith, Chthon, Mephisto, Black heart, Dormammu, Clea, Nightmare and Pkzkrfmknna along with Firestar and Vance_Astrovik AKA Justice?
So when are you going to do history of Zora_Vukovic Victorious since you did the history of Dr_Doom?
Are you going to do history of Ironheart, M'Baku, Namora, Attuma and Shuri as the Black Panther since they played a major role in the Black Panther Wakanda Forever movie?
If Apocalypse rewards the strongest by making them horsemen.. why did he transform Angel, a guy who's only power is having giant bird wings that he needs to use to fly? Did Warren Worthington pay him off?
Let's see one on The Green Goblin
Thanks to "X-MEN 97"....Cable's full real name has been retcon to "Nathan Christopher Charles Summers"
Are you going to do history of lesser known characters like Rom_the_Spaceknight, Stingray, Ultimo, Inferno, Zora_Vukovic Victorious, Flerken, Blacklash, Deathlok, Elematrix, Vertigo, Masked Raider, Red_Wolf, Tarantula, Forge, Bishop, Titanium_Man, Crimson Dynamo, Dreadknight, Deathcry, Kobik AKA the Cosmic Cube, Blizzard, Quasar, Starbrand, Nightmask, Bastion, Master Mold, Nimrod, Starhawk, Fixer, Whirlwind, Chemistro, Whiplash, the Controller, Madam_Masque, Count_Nefaria, Ava Ayala the White Tiger, Crossfire, Living Laser, Century, Lore and Technovore?
Anyone know that face on the background at 24:12 behind Jean?
For a being of strength,he doesn't half lose a lot
History of Apocalypse?! I'm almost absolutely sure we've done this on this channel before!

*That's Survival Of The Fittest For You*
Speaking of Apocalypse, Are you going to do history of the members of his Horsemen like Angel/Archangel?
15:49 Monica rambeu does the same in the marvels
Yoza lips yoza hips
What would happen if Apocalypse's Four children with Genesis went into hibernation with him to appear in present day to team up with the Four Horsemen in the present day to fight against the Brotherhood of Mutants and the X-Men?
I wish marvel had bought the rights to Captain Marvel/Shazam. Black Adam would have fit into this story well.
You know what who cares, I liked x-men apocalypse the movie, but it could've benefit from his origin sometime in the movie and his motives should've had just a little gravitas. Other than that I didn't hate Oscar isacs portrayal, he was kinda scary.
Didn't Firehair the mutant exist 1 million years ago in the 1 mill BC Avengers run? So Selene is not the first mutant.
What was up with Apocalypse integrating himself with Technology from both Kang the Conqueror and the Celestials to go with his powers? In which time period do you think Apocalypse was at his best before he met the X-men?
😮 The universal mummy imotep what's He doing in The marvel universe
One of the more convoluted and continuesly retconned origins. Majik and wolverine have equally convoluted and multiple retconned origins. Wanda is almost as bad. Spider woman too. Writers can't just leave shit alone. Especially when it comes to mutants.
Who do you think is the DC version of Marvel's Apocalypse? Who do you think would win between the two of them?
Fos Movies Did APOC so dirty, hopefully they will fix it
What would happen if Apocalypse fought against Egyptian characters like the Pharoah and the Living Monolith? Can you do history of the Pharoah and the Living Monolith?
It's always hard for me to think of Apocalypse as a mutant in the standard mold. Maybe it's just me but in the 90s especially it seems that Marvel put less focus on mutants having a power. His powers are so multi faceted and he's so technologically enhanced that having actual X Gene powers seems irrelevant in most of the stories involving him.
Hickman really reconnected apocalypse to Mutants tho with rhe whole Krakoa arrako story
😀😀😀
