Hey, Coach Justin here! I hope you enjoyed today's video! Don't forget to grab your FREE Bat Speed Boosters workout here: ultimatebaseballtraining.com/boosters
Hey Coach.. Kinda off topic for this video but I had a question.. Would you agree that the "palm up" to your swing approach follows the whole bat knob and hands to the ball method.. I was watching a interview with Harold Reynolds and Miguel Cabrera and Miggy said the only thing a hitter should be concerned about is taking his hands to the ball and making sure your bottom palm is down and top palm is up.. Wondering what your thoughts are on this.. Trying to give my team the best info possible
I agree with Miggy! I always preach the "palm up, palm down" method in my videos. It's tough to compare palm up, palm down with knob to the ball though because they are two different things. The knob to the ball idea is to get the hitter to stay inside the ball and help them get on plane with the pitch. The palm up, palm down idea is the position your hands should be in at the point of contact. That being said, I don't think it's good to take a polarizing approach and teach players to only take their "hands to the ball" or focus on being "palm up palm down." It's all part of it. You have to get your bat on plane with the pitch, but you also have to be palm up palm down at the point of contact.
Hey I went to a try out for the Belgium team u15 we played a game and I went 2-4 with 2 RBI singles and I didn't make an error in the field I even threw someone out at homeplate from RF . But I am not selected. I don't know why. Do you know if it has to do something with my speed? I am 14 and my 60 is 8.1
Speed might have something to do with it. I'm not sure though because I've never seen you or watched you play, so I'm unaware of your strengths and weaknesses.
This is a big summer for me. I really need to work hard and get ahead of the competition. I play 14u travel but I’m an average player and I want to make it to the major leagues so if you have any videos (or could make some lol) on staying motivated that would help a lot. Thanks coach.
Ultimate Baseball Training it’s weird. I’ll be motivated for a few weeks and then unmotivated and then motivated again a few days later. I need to be more consistent. I’ll work on it.
Baseball is a short minded game when you’re going up to bat you do not think dang I just made a terrible error that last inning no do not let that effect this at bat or any of them this happens a lot at the youth age level all you can do after you make a error is forget about it errors will happen but that error should have made you want it even more you want that ball to come to you right then and redeem yourself thank you Justin for this video helped out!
I thought you would mention the idea of placing yourself in "pressure" situations in practice. Imagine your next hit off the tee is a situation with 2 outs, bottom of the 9th, and you need to drive it up the middle to win. Next hit off the tee, similar scenario, but maybe you need to hit opposite to win. And so on. Step into the cage and do the same thing. That way, you've literally played through 1000's of "pressure" situations before you ever get on the field in a live game situation. Because you've already "played" through so many pressure reps in practice, an actual pressure situation in a game will become second nature to you.
That's a great point! Yes, you want to put yourself in those situations as much as possible. I talked about this in my recent video on developing confidence.
THANKS MAN! I appreciate it! Can't believe we're at 100k. It happens quick! So proud of the incredible community that we've built though. Road to a million now! 😈
Not to brag, but I always made the All-star. The problem is, that was when I was the age of 7-10. I haven't played in 4 years and I feel like I lost touch. Tryouts are soon and I am trying to practice. I'm not very good at defense, and I don't know if I am much a good batter as I was before. Please give advice.
I used to play ball competitively until I was about 15. I'm 28 now, and for the last few years I've just been playing in a mixed lob ball leauge. Unfortunately, baseball has been dying around my area. But now we've finally put a leauge together with 8 teams and it's great to be back playing such an awesome game. Just wanted to say your videos have been helping me out a lot buddy. You forget how hard this game is after not playing for 13 years.
Ultimate Baseball Training Oh man, some of it has been hilariously brutal. I basically belly flopped diving back to first on a pickoff attempt. Anyway, keep up the good work. Cheers!

I'll see what I can do! But I think the motivation has to come from within YOU!

Hey , how long after a season should I rest from throwing a baseball ?
I think you should listen to your body! Typically I recommend taking a few weeks off, maybe even a month... but it all depends on how you feel!
Almost at 100,000!!!

I tend to do better under pressure. The more on the line the better I do.
