Thank you very much Silas Coles :) ... I appreciate very much your subscription. I, like you, am no fan of boring tanks.... because I believe it makes a boring life for the animals who live there ;)
Hi Ian, Firstly awesome Paludarium, have been looking at it for days now. i was wondering do you do a water change and at what percentage and how often? Also is the water heated? I'm assuming that you treat the watered section as you would a freshwater tropical tank. Thanks again for the viewing of your setup.
Your cute frogs must sings 'Green green grass of home' everyday! Nice camera shots, plants looking good, love the moss on the wall and wood, how did you do the rain part if I can ask? Is it the water from your pump outlet maybe? And what are your other secrets to get it this good? :)
Thanks #69bonesz :) The frogs do seem to be very happy. They are fun to watch when hunting their crickets. You are correct with the rain being the spill from my pump outlet. The water runs 24/7 around the top edge of the background and dribbles down creating the effect. This is why the moss grows so well -- always wet ;) I am by no means a plant expert and don't claim any secrets as such ... But I can only assume the quality of the substrate and the fact that the plants themselves provide the filtration has a lot to do with my success.
Thanks for your answer! Your happy frogs are wonder full and great!! Love the shot with the frog doing the split we can see his yellow legs :) And that hunting shot with cricket eating was also great!! And there big eyes staring around for pray :) What you used for substrate? I only got tile grout, next time I build a tank I better also use something like cocos over it also..
69bonesz The substrate is Cal Aqua Labs "Black Soil" .. It is designed for use in planted aquariums and has excellent slow nutrient release and pH buffering capabilities. I think covering the background in places with a coir/peat mix helps to create a more natural look and provides a growing media onto which epiphytic species can easily attach. I used a 100% aquarium safe black silicon as a "glue" for the coir/peat... just spread the silicon and cover it with the mix. Press the mix into the silicon and the rest falls off.. easy :)
Tyvm, never seen the substrate in shops here, but I will ask for it next time I go to the aquarium shop, I also needed to ask for a nice plant called 'hygrophila pinnatifida', seen it in other tank, wanna have it also :)
Kpribbit 18 months old now :) .. Just uploaded a new video Kpribbit .. The Tank is a 4ft x 2ft x 2ft (100 gallons) and I have 8 inches of water in there (33 gallons round about)
Hello :) .. I have seen mine on occasion swimming in the water with no ill effect. Even swimming to the deeper water submerged. So I am guessing they don't need the tiny floaties I have on stand-by ;) hehe :)
There is little to say other than: Beautiful, sacrificing nothing practical for the fauna. An inspiration!
Incredible!
Awesome paludarium. Just got my first plant. Pretty excited to watch it grow.
Thanks Zak ... First of many steps for you ... it is exciting to watch them evolve... good luck with yours :D
Thank you! I'll have to post a video sometime.
Amazing paludarium great choice of different plant species! I subscribed
Thank you D Aquascaped ... Subbed you back :)
Looks absolutely wonderfull! Two questions - how do you fertilize the plants and how often and how do you do water changes?
Here, take my subscription for all this amazingness I just love people who create such awesome habitats such as these, I can't stand boring tanks...

what kind of frogs are those i want them all
They are Australian Red Eye Tree Frogs CW Reptiles .. Litoria chloris ... they are fascinating and entertaining :)
Litoria?... So are they related to Whites tree frogs. Does that mean they have similar care?
CW Reptiles The Litoria genus has several species .. It is quite possible that the Red Eye is related to the Whites.

H. pinnatifida is an awesome plant.... reminds me of a lace fern, only growing under water :) A good choice for the water section.
This is 10 months old?!?! Geez it looks at least 2 years old. Wow. Anyways, How many gallons is this? (How many of gallons water is in there too?)

Thanks! I asked because you have the perfect size for the land and water part and I would love to create a paludarium.
hello! am interested in building a paludarium….is there any fear of the tree frogs drowning? or are they good swimmers
