    It is not just the offense. Todd Bowles put on a masterclass of what a great defensive mind can do even with a bunch of starters out. If the offense continues to play like this and the defense gets healthy this Bucs team could easily win 12 or 13 games.

      If Tampa’s offense just has decent games like this with their defense & Bowles being lights out, this team could easily be a top 3 seed in the NFC

    *Baker's stats from 2018-2023:*
    *Baker Mayfield under Matt Rhule, Hue Jackson, and Freddie Kitchens (26 games): 77.9 passer rating.*
    *Baker Mayfield playing with a torn labrum (13 games): 82.1 passer rating.*
    *All other games (50 games): 95.6 passer rating.*
    *Baker Mayfield in the playoffs (4 games & 148 playoff pass attempts): 100.4 passer rating.*
    *He's always been this good. The difference is that now he has a decent head coach, reliable placekicking and strong defensive support AT THE SAME TIME that gives him margin for error. Plus he's FINALLY allowed to audible at the line of scrimmage.*

    Im a former Browns fan turned Baker Mayfield fan once the Watson trade happened, i've watched every single one of Bakers games and one of the biggest things that i never see getting talked about is how detrimental OBJ was to Baker Mayfield career.
    With OBJ on the field Baker had 37TD's to 30INT's. Without OBJ on the field Baker has 98TD's to 45INT's.
    Baker balled out in 2018 but people who are just stat watchers aren't aware of how impressive that season was, firstly he was not supposed to be the Browns starter, Hue Jackson intended for Tyrod Taylor to start for the entire of 2018 and Baker just sit and learn behind him even though Baker massively out played Taylor in training camp. What was most impressive this season was that once the worst HC in modern football Hue Jackson was ousted from Cleveland and Baker was under interim HC Gregg Williams for the final 8 games of the 2018 season Baker threw 19TD's to 8INT's with a completely new offensive scheme cooked up on the fly by Williams and Freddie Kitchens.
    Then 2019 OBJ comes in and Bakers stats suffer massively, i came to learn that OBJ bragged about his ability to improvise routes which could be the reason for their lack of chemistry on the field, your start WR never being where you expect him to be seems like a recipe for disaster to me, also during this time Freddie Kitchens inexplicably decided to change his offensive scheme to be completely different to what worked so well at the back half of 2018.
    2020 season happens and Baker plays really well but again theres more to look at, OBJ got injured in week 7 against the Bengals half way through the first quarter, Baker had thrown 10TD's to 7INT's during these first 6 games with OBJ on the field, as soon as OBJ was carted off Baker threw 5TD's to 0INT's in the remaining 3 and a half quarters of the Bengals game. Baker went on that year to throw a total of 16TD's to only 1 INT with OBJ off the field injured, and that was with 3 storm games in the middle of the season where wind was insanely bad that no passing TD's were thrown.
    2021 and 2022 are writeoffs due to the injury in 21 and due to the Panthers in 22 (no explanation needed for the Panthers).
    2023 rolls by, Baker once again balls out even though its his 4627th offensive scheme since being in the NFL and people are some how surprised but not me, hell i even bet on him for being the comeback player of the year and im still pissed that they gave it to Flacco (HE THREW 8 INT's IN 5 GAMES!!! THATS HORRIBLE!!). I've even got money on Baker being the MVP this season, do i expect it to happen? No, but would i be shocked if it does happen? Definitely not.
    If you watch Bakers tape then you really wouldn't be shocked by his current success, his entire career he has been hampered by those around him and now that hes finally free of burdens (well, for the most part, the O line and run game SUCK at Tampa but hes making it work regardless) hes playing extremely well.

    • @TheFootballDigest
      @TheFootballDigest  Месяц назад +2

      It truly is incredible what just putting a guy like Baker in an ideal and competent situation can for a player
      So many different factors always go into the play you see of a young quarterback. Just glad he’s now in what seems to be the best situation imaginable for him with all things considered
      Liam Coen coming to join him this year is just the cherry on top

    Need to get that run offense going cuz if they do Baker gonna rip teams up. A lot of people don’t know but Baker is one of the most intelligent QBs in the league. Sean Peyton and McVay both said in 18 that he could see and play once and write it up and call it perfectly. He has a photographic memory. I think there’s gains be some struggles cuz they can’t run the ball but we’ll see.

    This is a little misleading. Godwin had a great game in the slot - but so did Cooper Kupp. He had 110 yards against the Lions in the slot. It is a weakness in their defensive secondary. We will have to see how Godwin does over the remainder of the season. He has always been good in the slot but was taken out of it last year because he was hurt a lot in the slot two years ago. If he can stay healthy then he probably will be very good but there is a question on how long he can stay healthy in that position.

    • @jayanthsambaraju6562
      @jayanthsambaraju6562 Месяц назад +1

      i mean cooper kupp is a top 5 receiver when healthy it's not a negative against Detroit as it's them facing 2 elite receivers in their first 2 games.

    • @TheFootballDigest
      @TheFootballDigest  Месяц назад +2

      Valid point. It is a small sample size, but like you said Godwin has a history of being much more productive in the slot compared to split far out

    • @TheFootballDigest
      @TheFootballDigest  Месяц назад +2

      Ironic too that Liam Coen is coming from the Los Angeles Rams, where he’s taken over a similar offense that had Kupp thriving in the slot as well with his time there

    Should not be able to do this? Who said that? Who told you that? Put Baker in a system with reliable players and he can play like a Formula One racer. Don't believe me? Look at his college stats at Oklahoma.
    Baker Mayfield had the highest QB rating: 198.9 (2017) and 196.4 (2016). Was in the top 4 in all 3 seasons he played in every game. Had he been drafted by a decent team like Kansas City the whole makeup of the NFL might look different. Any questions?????

    Great video - Thanks! Amazing how good Baker plays when he's Not Injured! Do the "expert talking heads" have a 5 minute memory capacity? With the 1-31 Browns, he took them to defeat the Steelers in Pittsburg in a Play Off game. Then he gets injured, browns play him anyway the rest of the season instead of sitting him out, and the assasination "narrative" is created void of the facts. The shameless media is at it again with Bryce Young. I hope he goes to a good team next
