I made this the other day with grits and potato bread. However I do prefer potato bread with stew conch. But can I tell you my mind was blown with the fish stock. I have to try that out.

Thank you for an awesome video, which was clear, fun and so engaging. I've lived here for 27 years and never made stewed conch because my first encounter with this dish was stinky, sticky and not yummy. This morning I made it for my Bahamian husband and made him very happy. I served with grits and brioche buns. I shall attempt to make Johnny cake next time. I especially liked how you browned the flour first, it's much more sensible than the Russian roulette that is the usual roux prices 🙄 Thank you again

Nice video! I usually make my roux by browning the flour in a little bit of butter and EVOO, then adding the veggies...
There's definitely more than one way to skin a cat and your way is equally as good! Plus the butter flavor must be magnificent!

Man.....I just see that potato bread!!! Ohh goodness. I gotta call the gas company. I will run out of gas! I prefer dark breads like potato bread to go with stews, like conch and fish. If there is none, I would opt for cassava bread, then one heaping bowl of yellow grits. But as for souse and oilfish, i rather white bread like johnny cake or yellow grits. 😋😋😋

What is a substitute for the fish stock? Or is it optional
Fish stock is optional. You can use regular water or vegetable stock. It's your preference.

Just thinking when I was a child I ate stewed conch and ribs, do u just add ribs and cook it the same?
Actually, never heard of that. It may be a family thing. Should be interesting. I would say boil your ribs tender, reserve the water and use it the same way I did the broth in this one.
