Fried the grouper...browned the flour and could not remember from there. Stumbled on your page...love your attitude your pep and energy. .also love your stew fish...went straight to the kitchen and finished mine... Had some frozen tomatoes ..place them in a pot with the bay leaf with a bit of water for a stock. Everything came out great..only by Bay leaf was a bit strong..it's fresh off the tree..so the flavor is stronger. So thank you...will continue to watch
I love everything about this video. Attempting my first stew fish tomorrow and knew I had to check your channel first. Going to try it with breadfruit flour because I made some Johnny cake with it last weekend and that was so good it had me craving stew fish. Thank you, Bodine, your videos and recipes are always great.
Lmao!! 🤣🤣 "I could cook ya know" . Girl, I had a rough day helping my son prep for GLAT. Watching cooking is my therapy. I needed the laugh. Not sure if it's just me, but I talk to my pot while cooking.
Bodine I really enjoy watching you cook! The accent and the comments only Bahamas’s understand 😁 bring back so many memories of my childhood. I’m American born but my father is Bahamian. Love the food dishes from the island! 😋 👍🏾❤️ by the way, hadn’t heard monkey foot in a minute. My cousins used it all the time. 😁
I cooked this for breakfast this morning. Let me tell you how delicious this stew is!,😋 I loved also that, I followed your technique to toast the flour, and yup! No smokey kitchen or burnt flour . I accompanied it with both grits and Jonny cake (used your recommended recipe and the Jonny cake was sweet and moist. Very delicious Thank you !😋
Team Johnny cake. Excellent demonstration, complexity of flavours. Agree with addition of tomatoes. Video worthy of 5 stars. Muchas gracias a la presentadora. Keep up good work!
I enjoyed the journeys you take me on, remembering the unique dishes culture, I once experienced as child while living in the Bahamas.. I missed my Bahama Land so much ..
I dun see this channel ga be helpful for when I'm missing that Bahamian flavour. I also never thought of browning the flour like that, what a great idea now my hair don't have to smell like it was cooking too.
"Monkey foot" 🤣🤣 Gal you mean you keeping it Bahamian. I love it! 👍 I must admit , I watch in awe how you use very little dishes. By now , I would have already opened up the China closet for more bowls. 🥴
Bodine I love the way you present yourself and your recipes. I was always afraid of doing 'stew '. I tried your recipe and it was absolutely perfect and delicious. Thank you!😊
Wow you had me at tomatoes (yum), I especially love the idea of giving the potatoes taste in the way you prepared them as well as browning the fish to seal in the flavor - awesome! I need to loose a little weight so will go easy on the flour. You GO GIRL!!!
Sweet girl this is my very first time trying Bahamian stew fish. already did my fried Grunt, Hind and Big Eye BiJohn. Gern now to deal wit d flour. Wish me luck cause ah hungry.
Wow! This is so fascinating to me! I have seen the flour browned in butter but never straight into the pot like that. And I love the way you individually cooked the potatos and other delicious elements! What did you use to season the fish?
Thank you for watching. I ended up editing it out, but you can season yours however you see fit. I used bird pepper, salt and lime, the traditional way.
Hi!! I kind of cook what I like so you can know HOW to do it. You definitely can cook yours using the entire fish. I prefer mine without the bones because I use the bones and fish pieces to make broth. I'm sure you love it wither way. lol

Thank you! yessss watching the flour is definitely key. Sometimes I make a thin version and just add some root vegetables for substance.
You did your thing girl
Watching from the UK. Two things: your make-up is on point; I know exactly what you meant by, "not seeing enough thyme". 🇧🇸🇧🇸
Sweet girl this is my very first time trying Bahamian stew fish. already did my fried Grunt, Hind and Big Eye BiJohn. Gern now to deal wit d flour. Wish me luck cause ah hungry.
HEY 👋 How did it turn out? I can't wait to hear!
Team JCake. Love the channel, you let all you Bahamianise out.
😍😍😍❤❤ Love it!!!! I could cook ya know 🤣😂, I love your channel!
Thank you 😋
Try grunt or snapper for stew fish
Where can I purchase the fish broth in Nassau?
I don’t live in the Bahamas and can’t find grouper. Is there another fish that I can use?
Snapper, grunt, and other types of grouper are available. Just don't use white fish like cod or pollock and definitely not salmon.
Team Johnny Cake! Glad I came across your video
Girlllll...I am taking "Monkey foot," and saying it all day here in Atlanta. Thanks for the recipe pretty lady!
LOLLLL I love it!! Thank you for watching!

Hi from Croatia🇭🇷 we have a similar stew - we use tomato too🤣
WELL, Hello there! Sounds like you in Croatia have some great food!
Wow! This is so fascinating to me! I have seen the flour browned in butter but never straight into the pot like that. And I love the way you individually cooked the potatos and other delicious elements! What did you use to season the fish?
Hey Anna! I love me some distinct flavors! The fish was seasoned with Firehouse Spices Seasonings.
Where can I locate the Dunbar seasoning?
You can messags them on Instagram @DunbarGlobal
Thank You
Why didn’t you say how to season the fish
Thank you for watching. I ended up editing it out, but you can season yours however you see fit. I used bird pepper, salt and lime, the traditional way.
Why not whole fish fried with bones which add more flavor. Fish broth good idea
Hi!! I kind of cook what I like so you can know HOW to do it. You definitely can cook yours using the entire fish. I prefer mine without the bones because I use the bones and fish pieces to make broth. I'm sure you love it wither way. lol
