The reason that Krusty's Fun House doesn't feel like a Simpsons game is because it's actually a game called Rat Trap (for Amiga). They just put a Simpsons-stamp on it and changed the sprites.
Right on, didn't know that
O yea, I always thought it was a Lemmings knock-off.
This was interesting. It’s a very fun, and I had that on my Mega Drive as an unwanted birthday present at first, but once I got over not wanting it, it was a very good game! Liked it so much I bought the game gear version so I had it on trips.
that's the cheapest way to make a videogame based on a TV show,
seriously, what a bunch of slackers lol
ah ha! i knew it.
It should have been a no-brainer to bring The Simpsons: Arcade Game to the SNES. I think the SNES was capable of doing a decent port.
I know, right? They did it with Turtles in Time. The Simpsons arcade and the X-Men arcade would have both been great on the SNES.
Absolutely. Turtles in Time worked just fine. I kept waiting and waiting for news of a SNES port of The Simpsons Arcade to show up in Nintendo Power and it just never did.
SlyBeast Well at least you can play it on XBL now.
Son of Tiamat Yeah man, had it since launch. The online play was a nice touch!
My guess is that it was rights related, because Acclaim did every home console game of the Simpsons. So maybe Konami couldn't release a Simpsons game even if they wanted.
I actually loved Bart's Nightmare and Virtual Bart as a kid, partly because of blind love of Simpsons products, partly from being too young to be able to accurately gauge quality, but mostly for the main reason that I *still* find them fascinating to this day -- they're just so *fucking weird*. I agree that we all just wanted a port of the arcade game more than anything and I'll never understand why we didn't get that to go hand-in-hand with the awesome Turtles in Time port as an all-time classic, but the bizarreness and humor really fit the older seasons of the Simpsons in those games and they offered a lot of variety, at least. And some games were honestly fun I think, like the tomato-tossing game in Virtual Bart, I loved that crap.
hip indeed hahah yeah. I remember the moment when the picture is taken and you get to see all the persons you got all together forming a single master piece.
The tomato-tossing game is easily my favorite of the bunch.
Even as a 5 year old I could tell they were junk in comparison to other games I had like Mario. Escape from Camp Deadly too.
100% with you this guy has no clue what he's talking about. Barts nightmare was hands down the best Simpsons game. My house was the house everybody came to hang out, smoke bud and drink and the only game anyone ever played was Barts nightmare
Just got the SNES classic, after watching a few vids I stumbled upon ur channel. I must say I like ur style. You deliver content in a no nonsense manner and don't lag on. You keep a good pace, thanks for all the informative content on the games of that era.
Thanks for watching Patrick
The character design sprites in KRUSTY'S SUPER FUN HOUSE are chibi style and simply adorable.
Barts Nightmare is ok but seriously. Since when does Homer give 2 shits about Barts school grade?
Actually. in the really early Simpson seasons, Homer did care somewhat about Bart's grades...but yeah, in later seasons, he mostly doesn't care.
I grew up with Bart's Nightmare and it's a lot better then you think - once you understand the mechanics of each stage it's a lot of fun (but it is not intuitive at all.) For instance there are three or four attacks in the Bartzilla stage, not just two - it's actually a really fun stage - but it will take some playing to figure it out. It's still a flawed game (the Indiana Jones stage is brutal) but it's good - it just has a learning curve.
i never understand that game. :D
Dude it's amazing
Agreed with the Indiana Jones stage.
I could get 7 pages, but that second Indiana stage was down right impossible.
genericsavings dam I never got that far and I played the shit out that game! I would of done anything for guide for that game
john lacy I remember I used to go play it at friend’s house and complain that the game is so cheap. Lol
Good times.
Bart's Nightmare looks horrible on the surface but is subtly genius. The insane difficulty, chaos, unorthodox dream-like flow between experiences, inevitable failure, fresh ideas, Bart's fear of rejection from his family, the surreal reflection of Bart's energetic mind all come together to tell a powerful story that only a videogame can. Yes it is crazy hard, but like any good game that doesn't hold your hand, it is meant to be worked towards and the result is deeply rewarding, even though you can never truly win in Bart's midnight purgatory.
CaptainNnif lol dam you making me want to beat this game once and for all! I new if I would of beat this game my life from there on would of been different.. yah. I could of been a contender lol
It wasn't that hard. The only mini game I could never finish was Maggie's temple.
@@nonh1 the first maggies temple wasnt bad, the 2nd got extremely hard for some reason
I completely agree, its a good game but frustrating and hardcore so u have to invest and ull end loving it
I loved Bart's Nightmare, played it through a few times. Back in tyre day, you got used to bad controllers. It looks amazing, was challenging, and that's it.
Bart's Nightmare is a classic. How dare you.
A classic nightmare.
Bart's Nightmare was the best of the lot and had a lot of content, it makes a lot more sense after reading the manual and playing a bit. Compared to most licensed games it was pretty passable, decent value and not too hard or easy. It didn't hold up well next to most first-party Nintendo titles, though.
whoa... barts nightmare was a cool game... its confusing at first, but once you get a hang of it, its a fun game. youll die a lot tho, and starting from beginning can be frustrating.
It would have been cooler if they took more of a psychonauts approach to Barts nightmare. You go into the characters dreams, fight what they dream about.
Bro barts nightmare is the shit. What do you mean "its weird"? Hes having a dream lol. How normal are your dreams
Bart's Nightmare is actually a Great game when u know what to do.
I remember only being able to pass like 3 of the stages as a child, then I got it for my collection a few yeaes ago and I can actually beat this weirdly great game...
Just a hint, use R button to avoid Maggie's pacifier hit on Indy stage... lol XD
I remember reading about Bart's Nightmare in an old Nintendo Power. Notably the disease-type levels; looking at the pictures with their supplied cardboard 3D glasses. I can't recall if those 3D glasses were for that issue specifically, but due to how magazines are printed, they still gave a 3D effect for pretty much all publications.
Upvote for the 'Worker and Parasite' reference
barts nightmare is great!
Omg the wasted hours on Bart's Nightmare...oh the endless frustration.
I beat Virtual Bart as a teen just through sheer force of will. After that I threw it awya because I never wanted to do it again
I played the Simpson's arcade game at the bowling alley. On the way home I told my dad that's what I wanted for my birthday, that game on the SNES! Boy was I naive, but shit, they ported Turtles in Time, didn't they? I had no reason to believe this game wasn't available on the SNES, too. He came home with Bart vs. The Space Mutants for NES and I literally cried because it was so different and terrible. My mom had mercy and went out and bought Krusty's Super Fun House, and while it was a good game I had fun with, it still didn't soothe my misery. All of it could have been avoided if they would have just ported the damn game!
or your dad could of bought the actual arcade lol
What's funny (but not really) is all these years later we got the arcade game on 360 and PS3 briefly (it even included the japanese version) only to have it pulled down mere years later and never put back up. (along with X-Men arcade another tragedy) I honestly don't think the SNES could've handled this game. It needed to be 4 player and there was no way that was happening.
@@JohnDoe-wq5eu They did the same thing for the old WrestleFest arcade game... up one day, gone soon after.
@@ReinEngel
It's not exactly the same but I'm still upset about Scott Pilgrim. That game deserved to be around a lot longer than it was.
Konami didn't own the Simpson's license for home consoles.
I remember Bart's Nightmare. Was frustrating but so were all the games of the era so didn't feel out of place. But yes, the arcade Simpsons game was amazing. Loved it. Was so much fun playing with total strangers.
I got hours of enjoyment out of tomato toss on Virtual Bart. Water slide level wasn't half bad either. I just was frustrated by random mini game selector
I still like the tomato minigame. I think that's the best part of the game.
I have to say Bart’s Nightmare was more enjoyable once you get the hang of it. Virtual Bart was a very challenging game that took a lot of skill. I loved both of them but Bart’s nightmare was more of the game to play. In my eyes. As for the other two, I can’t really say cause I’ve never played them. I didn’t even know there was an itchy and scratchy game.
Ha! "Worker and Parasite"! Greatest cartoon ever.
Nobodyatall Vallejo lol what's that referencing earthworm and Jim??
@@johnlacy3611
in one episode, Krusty's show lost the license for Itchy & Scratchy to rival kids' TV program The Gabbo Show, so he had to license episodes from its Eastern Europe counterpart

I used to love Bart's Nightmare. To this day, I still have no idea how you are supposed to beat the Indiana Jones inspired level. It made absolutely no sense to a 10 year-old me.
I love this channel more than anything on RUclips. I finally got a super console x pro. Now i can play every game i ever wanted to.
What I love in Bart's Nightmare and Virtual Bart is their big 90's vibe.
No mention of the Tomato throwing level? That was the best part of Virtual Bart!
I really liked Itchy and Scratchy
I've got a bit of nostalgic fondness for Krusty's Super Funhouse and Bart's Nightmare (and a little for Virtual Bart but never owned it). Spent a lot of time trying to beat those games and have waffled back and forth on re-adding them to my game collection. But yeah they problems with the games are pretty apparent. Can't believe you didn't mention the ridiculously hard Indiana Bart section in Bart's Nightmare. What a pain in the ass. I could beat Bartzilla, the swimming stage, Bartman and Itchy & Scratchy but Indiana Bart just was beyond my reach.
I'm biased here in saying Bart Nightmare is good. I played it compulsively when I rented it from Blockbuster to get a B- final score.
What a waste of a great license. All these games should have been classics.
Bart's Nightmare is SUPER underrated. It's easily one of the top 25 games for SNES.
Great sound, graphics, varied gameplay. The only drawback in that "Dream Springfield" gets hard as BALLS once you've picked up a few pages.
I'm still holding out for a survival horror game where you're Bart trying to run from Sideshow Bob.
In the minority here but I had lots more fun playing Virtual Bart than Bart's Nightmare. Once you got used to each minigame's learning curve the end of each level became so rewarding.
"Alright, I wanna thank you. And, you have a great rest of your day."
I rented barts nightmare once and had no idea what to do lol .
This makes me glad that I steered clear of all Simpsons games except for the arcade beat 'em up.
I kid you not.. I was taking a shit when this was released. Are you psychic? This is perfect.
*stands there, awestruck, with cigarette hanging out of mouth*
WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT?!
I find that SNES Drunk gives up on games he doesn't want to get good at and dismisses them as crap... Bart's Nightmare is a good example of this
I agree that the street segments of Bart's Nightmare are super awkward, but I think the rest of the game is pretty great.
congrats on 10k subs! I really appreciate what you do here man.
Thank you for watching
I rented Virtual Bart a lot as a kid. Fun fact: it was the first Simpsons game where the show's cast actually recorded new, original lines for.
I ATUALLY LIKE BART'S NIGHTMARE
Weirdo... no one liked it, we tolerated it due to lack of games, that's awfully different dude
It's really unique - I love it.
I loved it too...
I remember renting it a bunch of times, loved it too. also liked the family's reaction change as your grades improve
Yeah it's not specially good but a classmate from elementary used to come over to my house very often with this game and we used to play it for hours and hours, to this day I enjoy playing it but it's more for nostalgia than anything else
virtual bart suuuucks so bad, i got this for an easter present as a kid and i traded it away immediately.
I mentioned this on other videos: Bart's Nightmare: the game that never ends!! I had Crusty's Fun house for SNES and Bart's Nightmare for GENESIS.
I played a bunch of Krusty’s super fun house on the mega drive. Its a lot of fun. It’s like Lemmings and a platformer gave birth to a licensed Simpsons game.
I truly appreciate the Worker and Parasite referemce.
I was fortunate enough to get Krustys super fun house for my birthday right after we got our snes, and I still will pop it in to play it. It's an immensely fun game
Barts nightmare should be in your hardest snes games list. That sh*t is frustrating!
Anybody else used to love the tomato and egg throwing mini game in Virtual Bart? In fact I remember playing this a lot as a kid, mostly because I grew up with old school Simpsons. The game probably hasn’t held up, barely holding up in 1995 I suppose.
I played virtual bart on sega like crazy back in the day. It's an awesome game.
Barts Nightmare is great.
Great episode. Love Krusty's Super Fun-house played that a ton as a kid. As for the rest I couldn't agree more. Also we soooooo deserved a port of the Simpsons Arcade Game!
Damn, we all had at least 2 of those games back in the early 90s. For instance, my dad got me Krusty's Super Fun House... but when i was like 4 years old!! and, of course, i just ran around the level, realized it wasn't a sidescroller like super mario world and got bored of it instantly.
Then, one or two years later, i got Bart's Nightmare for christmas and I actually liked it because it was bart doing fun stuff. I mean, I never beat it, but whatever, it was cool.
Nice video, would've like to hear your opinion on each bart's nightmare mini-game, but it think it would've been too much.
After playing TMNT IV and it being one of my favorite SNES games, I remember renting Bart's Nightmare and Virtual Bart from the video store on two separate occasions and both times expecting them to be The Simpson's Arcade.
Bart Nightmare and Mario RPG was majority of what I played at grandmas house. I had Krusty fun house too and hated it as a child. Id pick it up here and there but I spent so many hours on Barts Nightmare never put enough time in it to beat it nor able to fully understand what the hell is going on. Good memories though. The door with itcy and scratchy was great.
Bart's nighmare was BY FAR the best Simpsons game on the console... SNES DRUNK was obviously terrible at it. It was not easy, for SURE, but well worth it.
As a child, I remember I got the Krusty's Fun House and Bart's Nighmare. Those were two of the few games I was never able to complete. I was never able to pass from the third level in Krusty and never able to get that damn last homework page from the indiana mini game xD
I can get every page 📄 except 1 in barts nightmare. I actually like that game pretty good
A+ Worker & Parasite reference.
That bit is still one of my all-time fav Simpsons jokes.
20 seconds into the video and "this one is probably the best of the bunch" well okay then
Ficehdulah lol I was like ahhh man..
It broke my heart that all the older The Simpsons games were as bad as they were, but you said it, at least we had the beat 'em up. I dunno about other platforms, but years back I got The Simpsons arcade game on PSN.
*Plays a Worker and Parasite game*
SNES drunk: "What the hell was that?!?!"
Disgaree with your Barts Nightmare review. I used to play it as a kid and found it easy enough to navigate and fun too.
With the SNES and The Simpsons being like the most 90s things ever one would expect at least one decent game to exist 😢
I loved BARTS NIGHTMARE , but then again I am from the old school of gaming that likes it a bit thought to get used to . Before I knew it , I beat BARTS NIGHTMARE.
first time you play barts nightmare you will hate it cuz its confusing as hell... but because i was a kid and i loved simpsons, i kept playing the game.. when you finally understand how game mechanics work, it is actually a fun game
Oh yes, The Simpsons Arcade Game. My dream PCB to purchase. Dreams, dreams, dreams.......
I didn’t mind Bart’s nightmare could be nostalgia glasses from
Playing it as a kid though
Bart's nightmare is one of the best games ever
The battletoads arcade game was great too. I cannot say the same for the other games on consoles.
I loved the baby level in Virtual Bart.
Home computers had a port of the arcade game, why they never brought it to consoles is a complete mystery
The simpsons arcade game was one of my favorite games as a kid. I wasted so many quarters on it back in the day. I wonder if it was ever ported?
To the XBOX Live Arcade years ago, but the license is long gone
Barts nightmare was freaking awesome
Bart's Nightmare is a nice game. I rented Bart's Nightmare in the 90's, it was weird at the beginning, but after a while it gets very good. Is very hard, remember that I could not finish the game....and I was a good player, I beat all the Star Wars games and the Lion King, without the difficult that everyone talks about those games, but for me Bart's Nightmare was harder.
I will try it again. Simpsons games are very hard, it was the same with the NES ones, Bart vs The world and the other one, Space Mutants?
Oh man, the SNES version of the nuclear apocalypse mini-game looks so much better than the Genesis version.
when I was 7 (23years ago) i actually had Bart's Nightmare for sega genesis and it literally a nightmare to play. Then I went to chuck E'cheeses and saw the konami Simpsons Beatem' up arcade game and lost my mind ! It was incredible I remember having a clear understanding of the huge differences.
Children now and days have The Nintendo switch.
I actually loved virtual Bart and Barts nightmare as a kid.
I owned both krustys fun house and barts nightmare as a kid. I could never beat either of these games. I got far in krustys fun house but never reached the end. Barts nightmare was just a giant pain in the ass to play.
What are u talking about bro, Barts nightmare is awesome. The feel, the art and everything is awesome, really unique and cool. Never finished it but lived replaying it nonetheless
I loved Bart's nightmare as a kid
The arcade game got ported to MS-DOS and the Commodore64, of all things. I never understood why it didn't get an SNES port.
I was surprised Bart's Nightmare got trashed. Just about everyone I knew was playing it. Personally I only liked the Bartman stage, and that was due to the music more than anything. Used to seek out the blue door for it.
Bzaafied the Ferocious lol hell yah
Bart vs the world kind of adventure game would have worked too.
Wait, what? You can blow bubbles to refill your health in Bart's Nightmare? I've had that game since the god damn nineties and I never knew that! Probably explains why it took me so long to beat it...
I remember them just releasing tons of Simpson’s games on many ports but all we wanted was the arcade game
I feel your always on point with all your reviews thanks for putting the legitimate time into these
Thanks for watching Kody
wow itchy and scratchy game sounds cool that was my favorite part of Barts Nightmare
Bart's Nightmare is one of those games i got at a young age and blunt forced my way through. It is decent when you know what to do. Virtual Bart is ungodly difficult on the SNES and I have never beaten it.
Love ya SnesDrunk but u did Barts Nightmare so dirty. Its janky as all hell very true, but it is so complex and challenging. There is an absolute ton of tricks and strategies to learn. The game plays a lot with "Dream Logic", things that are bad when used in different ways are actually beneficial.
As a kid yeah this game screwed us all over but as an adult this game really is something special and 100% unique. You really feel a great sense of accomplishment when you finally get Bart that A+!
I want to play and like Krusty's Fun House/Krusty's Super Fun House, but the game takes around 3 hours to fully complete the game which is simmer to The Tick Game in which also takes around 3 hours to fully complete the game as well.
nice "Worker and Parasite" reference
I had the Game Gear version of Krusty's (Super?) Fun House at one point, but I could never beat it. It was ... difficult.
Barts Nightmare is actually a pretty good game.
Awww I really liked virtual Bart lol I loved throwing tomatoes
It took me years, but I have finally beaten Bart's Nightmare. If there is any advice I'd give, the whole game is dependent on memorization, especially for the Temple stages. Plus the final boss of the 2nd Itchy and Scratchy level is where you can get the most points. Spend some time shooting at the fire thingies coming out to increase your score, which will have you end up with an A plus.
Konami not porting The Simpsons Arcade to snes and genesis was worse than Bart throwing rotten eggs at your door.
I put a LOOOT of time in Krusty, but maybe you had to be a Lemmings fan to appreciate it?
I have an original cartridge of Bart's Nightmare for the SNES. That game is Super Ghouls N Ghosts tier frustrating. The best I ever got was B-.
haha "Worker and Parasite"
tommykesh lol what's that referencing?? Earthworm Jim??
So it's safe to say just stick to the simpsons arcade game
LIL D 916 Bart's nightmare was gold if you can get passed the difficulty
