I live in an arid grassland at the edge of a desert so these manicured hedge bordered paths and green hills are so foreign. It looks like a great ride. Someday I'll get to travel to the UK.
Thank you for this video. I have replicated several of your rides on Dartmoor in the past… I live in Axminster and it is so nice to see you enjoying the beauty of East Devon. I do hope that you return and finish off the East Devon Trail.
Good on your! I had a mechanical on the Massif Central and the nearest place was 35 miles walk away. I was preparing for the worst but God bless the inventor of the cable ties!
Everything lovely !! The girl, the trails, the views, the coast at good weather, the little towns, the nice pubs - very very viewable trip - sorry for the "non" happy ending ! A tube would be the last savior...
You have such a great sense of humor and spirit. Although you didn't complete your journey from what I saw it looked like a spectacular couple of days! Take care and keep up the adventures.
What a lovely route and a great video! Your piss-poor preparation for such a big ride is what I love about your vlogs, I’m ‘nearly’ as bad, but I ride with someone who carries everything bar the kitchen sink. Keep up the good work!
Always a fun ride-along! 😁. And I mist say I am a guy and your slim, fit, visibly strong fitness level inspires me!! Keep riding and filming, love your content!!
I picked up some sections of this last week as I was down in Exmouth. Those trails over Woodbury Common were absolutely amazing, plus the weather was great to really enhance the experience. Also came across a camp of Marines, who were clearly not expecting to see me whizzing through on the hardtail so early in the morning! 🤣🤘
Another really funny account of your cycling antics and adventures. Will definitely try out the route and absolutely have to see the donkeys. Looking forward to seeing any footage and advice about the final sections👍
I know I have already posted but travelling in Ireland but I love seeing these adventures of yours. Just reminded me of my time cycling around Clonakilty in County Cork Ireland. Stayed in a hostel that use to be a brewery and it was a highlight. Brewery was the Deasy brewery. Ah the memories. EDIT: you quickly talk about your sunburn. My first week in Ireland was sunny everyday! I was not expecting that and didn't have any light long sleeve tops plus trying to find sunblock in Ireland was almost impossible at the time. LOL!!!
Oh that's unfortunate as I was enjoying the atmosphere of East Devon too! please, come back and we will be here to witness the rest of it 😄🙂 That's OK really, you need just that bit of luck when you are on the road, let alone gravel paths. Hope the trod down to the station was not that much of a nuisance and also wish the cheers back in Exeter to have lifted your spirits a bit 😁 🍻 =]
Oh bless you 😂 could be worse.. you could have had road cycling shoes on?? Haha, love the content! Always such a feel good watch while I’m cooking tea!
I knocked that lot out in just over a day and I’m not even a particularly fast cyclist. 1 night stopover in a pub and back in Exeter for lunch the next day. It can easily be done in a day with an early start. It’s a very enjoyable route.
Hopefully to hit the gravel in the Autumn and into year. Had a few tastes this year and last, the Cycling UK routes that they keep promoting look a ton of fun.
Yes, Katie Kookaburra's recent videos certainly put what I think is a "long ride" into perspective.😄They're inspirational, but your videos are probably slightly more achievable inspiration for me... That route looks terrific. I just wish that singletrack through tall grass by a river in summer didn't make my brain scream "SNAKES" (I live in Australia)
Woodbury Common?? This was used a training ground for the Commando Course out of Lympstone. Fond memeories, Woodbury Rash caught by 25% of us which gave a leprosy like rash which meant the female populace shunned you for years. So we would run around these trails with all our kit then on one exercise we were told dig a trench. The ground is 20ft of gravel and pebbles. Took 12 hours. This was considered a good time. Mispent youth but worth it!!
Enjoyed the ride. Looks like you made it as far as Seaton. Was it after that you got the flat. My father is from Seaton so I know the area. I’m envious of the trails. Here in Newfoundland most trails are rocky and steep and covered in snow for fine months.
Gutted Juliet… how annoying with the split in your tyre, if it’s any consolation, my bike decided to throw me over the handlebars after the front axle locked up and seized. I was on a canal tow path, 7 miles from home….that was a 3hr walk with a crippled bike…I was not a happy boy that day 🙌🏻🤭
Nice to see parts of where I live that I’ve never seen before , did not know there a trail ride where I live , have two spare rooms so could let them out for cyclists only have not cycled for years, next time if your tyres split obviously if you once again forget your spares email me I will take you to the train station, take care ride safe, song for the video = Coastline = Hollow Coves.
Please can you mount the garmin so that it doesn't rattle on the stem top cap... and stop it beeping! I turn every new garmin I get to silent as the incessant noise spoiling the countryside drives me insane. As for the mechanical, the hole wasn't that large if it was close to sealing so could have been easily sorted with one of those tubeless plug puncture kits. The other option is to carry a tube, just in case. The other common gravel biker hack is to wait for an MTBer to come along and fix it for you!

The most positive and upbeat human ever!
Thank you - I did enjoy your ride in the beautiful landscape. 😊✌️

lovely lovely lovely Juliet just bad luck nothing more great video, energy, smiles and keep them coming lots of love to you
Thanks Juliet, lovely route and part of the country.
Really enjoy these types of videos. Bad luck with the tyre but a perfect excuse to revisit the trail.
Thanks
thanks James!

When stuck like that you can pack the tyre out with grass from the fields it's amazing how ridable it can be.
Great vlog - hope your well
Throwing a bit of dirt or small bits of grass onto the hole might also help sealing it. The sealant also just contains small (specialized) particles.
The quality of video is so much improved, well done!
Great video beautiful love the different camera transitions and chats
Really want to try this route out thanks for sharing :)
Enjoy!
I can so relate with being super organised and then leaving or forgetting things 😎😁😊
What a bummer. Great journey up until the slash in the tyre. Will have to try that route sometime. Thanks.
Great video, looks a fab route. Look fwd to the 2nd half sometime.👍
Bummer I was enjoying that 😆 you must have been gutted. Great first day though, and that weather! The Donkeys! 😀
Another entertaining and fun video, thanks Juliet!
Did anyone else rewind and replay the sweary bits??
Fabulous countryside ! Yeah, gotta stop for donkeys, so cute!

Yeah those are good for sure
@@JulietElliottsChannel Just watched to the end, that was some bad luck you had right there. Bet you won't go forgetting again... until next time!
It might seem overkill to some, but I've lost track of the number of spokes I've broken on trips; so I usually bring one or two along.
Sounds cool 👍

Your flat was a bummer, other then that, a very nice ride, I love you vids 👌
That route looks ace!..
Bummer about the technical. I want to go stay at the place you stayed in. Looks killer.
Your such a donut 😆 I’m glad you mostly had a good time and saw the donkeys
EDT looks good Juliet
Action packed stuff. Sorry it was curtailed by a ‘P-word’. More of this please…just with spares and no punctures to spoil your fun. Thanks again ☕️
Great 🚴 adventure, shame about the puncture…Sometimes inner tubes aren’t such a bad idea! 😢
Did it in a day. Its a nice one day ride.
Aaww,, Little 😺❤️ kittie nappy ☺️
Wooooops! :D
"morninnnnng" my favourite way to hear a video start. I haven't been keeping up so which bike are you riding with the front squish on it?
Being near the cost as well I recognise the "limited options for rides" quite a bit.
Really like your shorts color and style, is there a mens version do you know by any chance and if so what brand is it?

Bravo 🇨🇵😊😘
We've all had those rides 😀😀🤦♂️
How many times have I left stuff at home?
Hi Juliet. Just subscribed to your channel. Just wondering what 1x ratios you use on your gravel bike??
How you find these off road tracks???
So complicated cycling in UK
I would pay you if you could show me cycling tracks
This is an established route so I just googled it

You need to make a checklist for equipment on the back your exit door so you do not forget stuff !
I’d probably forget to look at it 🙈
How do you hold your GoPro when you're cycling and talking to the camera?
I just hold it in my hand
@@JulietElliottsChannel Ah, ok - that makes sense :) I don't trust myself though...
Great video I'm thinking about getting my first gravel bike next year it's a topstone 4 do u think that would be a good starter
Damn, i touched the unlike brutton by accident. Corrected right away, i love all your videos.
Gutted Juliet… how annoying with the split in your tyre, if it’s any consolation, my bike decided to throw me over the handlebars after the front axle locked up and seized. I was on a canal tow path, 7 miles from home….that was a 3hr walk with a crippled bike…I was not a happy boy that day 🙌🏻🤭
Yikes! Three hours!!
I'm curious to know if you have you considered a tire insert like the Cush or Vitoria Air-Liner? Might have been a life saver.
Considered but not taken the plunge as of yet.

That’s cycling 🚴🏿♀️
You're funny!
is tyre sealend really working for higher pressure tyres?
Yeah usually but sometimes you need a plug for a bigger hole, I usually carry a Dynaplug for this reason
@@JulietElliottsChannel what sealend do you prefere?
What bad luck ☹️ .
Still it looks like I'm going at some point.
Kool
How you liking the forks?
Really liking it a lot!
Does Julie ever listen to podcasts while riding??
Is there any Italian in your family because there is in mine and I talk with my hands too 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Ride the coast road to Weymouth.

Yes I know it could be sealed using a plug - you obviously missed the part where I said I forgot my tools
@@JulietElliottsChannel That must have been when I went to the fridge to get another beer!
Waiting for the cat.
spinning the wheel helps the sealant do its thing...
Indeed it does
Best thing to do when that happens put air in and keep riding
Haha obviously I tried putting air in. It wouldn’t stay in as there was a bloody great hole
Shout out to the bag-leaver-at-homers! I do it all the time 🤦🏽♂️
A whistling woman calls up the Devil - according to my late Mother

30 minute ride, 90 minute walk? You must walk fast!
I tried and avoid walking TBH
Better luck next time beautiful
Bummer
