You made me do late night math in my head and I momentarily thought the Yamato-class 457 mm shells were instead 457 cm, and I was just laying here, bewildered, thinking: Wow, imagine sending next to a shell that is the height of a semi truck." But then I visualized it and thankfully had the auto-correct thought of: "No, that can't be right."
They actually handled this perfectly. It would look goofy if they tried to make the actual model deform like the DM does, but when you see the penetration cam you can see exactly what actually happened to your vehicle
Yeah! Death to the R3! One of the scariest moments I’ve had in WT, is having a pack of R3s come after me. They just popped up out of nowhere. My teammates were howling with laughter as they watched me get slaughtered.
@@siegfried2k4 the tank models would probably have to be "frozen" once the inital calculations are run to turn them into semi-static objects to prevent lag. if the wreckage got shot again they would simply need to re-simulate the tank for that shot specificially. i imagine this can still cause great lag though with high fire-rate tanks
They'd probably need to make a new engine for that to run properly. Not the sort of thing you can easily just patch into a 10 year old game without a whole load of jank.
They still need to remove the cam where it shows your killers position. Revenge bombing wouldn't be so easy if it just showed the direction the shell came from and the impact instead of doxing your enemy.
@@spartanswill they still get the general area. By the time a jet is on you you've barely moved that much unless you give up everything and just bumrush away from the area after each kill.

I don't think it took major amount of work, they just added visuals to the already modeled penetration, but yes while they should fix the game i think this update is cool
@@Lightning_Fox for an experienced tech artist probably a day. Any complications and stuff would probably be a couple days to weeks of bouncing between QA and the tech artist.
So glad they spent their time on this instead of things like netcode, hit detection, reworking the maps so they can give us our f*cking traction back, and all those other lame quality of life improvements that the players have been whining about on the forums.
It'd be close to the transmission in most cases, so they'd go down together most of the time. So it'd be pretty pointless to add it. Instead of adding new stuff, they should fix the stuff that's already in the game: spreading the BRs more and fixing the economy (by lowering repair costs, increasing RP/SL gains or by decreasing RP/SL costs and making convertible RP work like in wargaming titles - meaning it can be used for free for vehicle research and vehicle modifications). And perhaps getting rid of the current style of events and reintroducing community events. (where ALL players work towards a common goal and anyone that completed a minimum amount of tasks can recieve the rewards)

Killcam was one thing I wish was never in the game at least above arcade mode, in RB and especially sim it removes the sneaky aspect especially if you managed to avoid detection to find that otherwise vulnerable spot yet perfect for ambush.
They still haven't fixed how much human bodies absorb the shot or spalling. Fv4005 could just split open the r3 yet components behind the crew is "orange"
I hope it's like sniper elite 4 where it gives you info about the people you're about to kill so you feel guilty. It would be funny if they did that for the actual tanks as well.
So they changed kill cams in a useless way rather than actually doing something good by making it so the enemy isn't literally shown where you are for a revenge bomb
it would be cool if the combat vehicle was torn to pieces after a powerful hit. and so, for the sake of the gameplay, the player should have a dead tank
not defending anything in particular, but they can work on more than one thing at a time- it's unlikely the team or person who got all this together has anything to do with the more important stuff (netcode, map structure). Little UI and feature touchups like this aren't worth complaining about honestly
