Awesome update! Hope they continue to improve art and design through early access. Cant overstate how important it is
Bro the game still looks like it has sc2 graphics from 20yrs ago
@@stedyedy23 What part of my comment don't you agree with lol
NOW WE ARE TALKIN
A massive improvement, the new models look almost 3d, like you said Ghost, they pop off the screen.
Yes, the units look less undefined and blurry now.
The mouse is clearly Maud'dib who knows the ways of the desert!
those new creeps are fire
But no heroes to gain XP.
@@Gaze73 not yet. 3v3 with heroes comes in around 6 months. The map editor also comes then so people can mod in 1v1 with heroes. Also vanguard does gain xp even without heroes.
Looks significantly better, units are definitely popping more.
They've still got early access to continue improving the art, so let's hope they maintain this momentum.
With a focus on microtransactions/skins/etc to monetize, they've got to get the look of the game right.
Artstyle is so weird man, only a handful of units overall that I would keep as they are.
more ganking/assassin units, so players work on putting wards and stuff
Its not moba
@@amir.r1639 not expert in rts, but my thought:
Normal People want to see more of great outplay micro than macro.
Great for getting new players in rts and for non-players to appreciate rts more. Most of rts player today are old rts player.
Besides stormgate is for experimenting new things not copying starcraft.
I love those new exos, they look so much meaner!
The projector buildings being there multiple times makes sense if its not repurposed as well. The whole point of each building having some ability was so u dont build a single one in a distant corner and instead multiple near the front lines.
However one of them also seems to be a prime? Or thats just the upgrade animation. Who knows.
really like the art/unit model improvements, and the new map -- if things keep improving like this, I will most likely try the game at some point if nothing else after it goes ftp ... huge sc1/sc2 fan here, casual play but I played a ton
Nice, im glad to see some love on the STR genre. And not some cash grab without any updates. + Its a free to play that is the kind of things that can really put a lot of people back on this genre.
I think the improvements you are seeing is tweaks to the roughness and metalness maps. If you look at the Kri in the trailer you can see that metal now looks like, well, metal. This increases the realism and makes buidlings and weapons look less like plastic. It's a really quick but fix that will probably calm down some of the voices who weren't happy with the games look.
It does look better. The lighting/shadows doing heavy lifting, As well the tileset swap (green tilesets are very WC3 in peoples minds). The overall art style can't change much, I don't like the cinematics, but I have to give them credit, these battlefield graphics are closer to the right vibe.
Very nice and its probably only going to get better and better
N O W we are T A L K I N G !!!! Looking great!!!
Looks so much better. Props to the devs for these great changes.
Good improvement on the graphics yea, but the shadow still need to be fixed. Remember, this is a game made in UE5. It cannot be that a game like SC2 implemented in versions earlier than DX11 has better shadows than this on release. So I do hope they fix the shadows. Once that's done, in terms of graphical quality, I think the game will look good.
love that they improvd the art style.. literally was the worst part about the game previously. I am still not a fan of the way the minerals look but meh that's minimal.. command and conquer was tiberium the coolest looking resource still to date imo
It's been really cool to see this game evolve. It's only going to get better and better!
Lets goooo it looks amazing
4:19 My man, its called a mace!
Haha you know I thought exactly that as I was editing this, I knew there was a word for it somewhere in my brain!
I think they should lose the particle effects for the attacks of Melee units, the range effects are fine but it's hard to see on melee. Melee units should not be flashy so that you can understand wtf is going on in the front line
Please dont compare it to sc2 art style or graphics
This game have it own and unique design
Sc2 is more realistic and with more than 100 million dollars put into it
Sc2 graphics was way way a head of its time that even now most gaming systems cant run on ultra graphics in 2 v 2 match
Yes it feels like a cartoon to play stormgate but man the budget of Storm gate its a tiny miny fraction of sc2
The fact that a new company is making a real rts in 2024 while we have call of Fortnite 😂 is still enough
Ok, much much better than before, still don't like the style and some units, the map looks blurry and a bit flat, but I'll take the improvement gladly, this is definitely better than before, let's hope they keep pushing in this direction.
This is a win.
finally it starts to look - keep good work
It's SO beautiful I've got tears in my eyes!!! We are on the ground floor of a revolution in RTS! This is a career starter for many of us
Revolution of rts? Really? Do you understood the meaning of "revolution"? This game (at least at the moment) is worse than SC 2 which is 14 years old game the gameplay is worse, the art style is so much weaker (at least SC 2 never had to defend itself from art criticism). The game can be next step or something, but not a revolution.
@@назарбезносик You have no clue my friend. Im sure you are just too old.
Stormgate, Tempest Rising and Age of Mythology Retold hype !
Come on its definatly a sarcasm, it would be a miracle for this game to have over 20k online on launch and such number is a sign of a dead product for mp based game
@@jibbanibba2000I don't think even a singleplaye rts game could even get 10k on it
Jerboa or kangaroo rat
0:58 new creeps completely in the back as well
Also on the force projector piece, at 2:24 we see the force projector to the far right also seemingly having the 'Prime' beacon which further indicates it's role has changed to unit producing.
Well spotted 👏
Maybe it has become the Stargate equivalent

i love everything i've seen about this game, i was a bit skeptical with the art direction but after playing a few games i had a lot of fun and now that they replaced the placeholder map biome textures and gave them a more "personal feel and look" its just so good, i know companies who try to make new RTS games need to experiment and innovate in order to attract people and thats understandable and i also endorse that, considering the fact that SC2 is the most popular RTS currently and it is not in the best state to say the least, i hope all the other new RTS games succeed even if i dont like the focus of minimal to no macro in battle aces and zerospace, with a heavier focus on micro and constant fights or overwhelmingly amounts of mechanics and stuff that you need to learn and process just to keep the game busy for the lack of macro.
guys innovating and experimenting is great, but macro is too.
omg less LED! nice!
4:01 Hellborne do they have a new ability to set fire?
I noticed one more thing that isn't mentioned in the video, the scanner now has a moving/flying animation.
We already have seen Force Projectors to train units, so thats kinda given i feel like, what i do hope is, the ability Force Projectors have, hopefully stays.
yeah, it makes more sense. since celestials it's the building race, every building should have something special. maybe at a cost of manifestation time or something, as you are already paying power.
still looks awful haha! will get better i guess
go play broodwar grandpa
@@mr.leanflakes-highlights1556 not that old haha.
The graphics are probably better than StarCraft 2 now tbh, it just needs more detail and a highlight pass plus smoother animations and it's probably there for what this artstyle is going to deliver, I can see it getting better and being fine for sure.
U r completely high if u think the graphics are better than sc2 lmao
@@ExtremeWassabithey are completely different styles. I like this style better than sc2.
I’m about to try out StarCraft 2 for the first time. Will definitely get Stormgate as well (:
@@Onyx1776 sc2 is a great game, it just died out in popularity so now unfortunately if u play multiplayer its just lifelong tryhards
@@Richard-ln6ot everything looks bland and boring. I was super hype for this game but now, meh. I dont like the art style at all. Hoping for the best tho
Steam says release date is 07/30
July 30th 2024 - Preview Access (for players who were in beta/s, or are kickstarter backers, or bought a EA bundle)
August 13th 2024 - Early access open to F2P players.
Late 2025, possibly later - 1.0 Full Release
Laughalbe, that a game released in 2024 looks worse than Starcraft 2 while copying it.
It does look much better. I love the artstyle of stormgate and Sc2 just looks boring to me.
@@mr.leanflakes-highlights1556 It looks like a cheap mobile game. The lighting is off and the textures are muddy.
I can't belive this is on UE5.
Stormgate will fail dramatically which is a shame.
@@R4ZORLIGHT It doesnt look cheap and not muddy. This looks much better than SC2 and you are blind if you dont see it.
@@mr.leanflakes-highlights1556 Guess you need to visit a doctor to check your eyes or look a proper comparison of both games.
How in earth can somebody think that this looks better than SC2 🤣
Yeah, I mean they are working, it is impossible to admit, but they failed already. I wanted this game to succeed, but I just see no chance at all. It is a WEEK until early acsess for supporters and 3 weeks until full early release and what do we have:
1) Ton of hatred to the art style, such a giant wave that even devs had to comment it several times.
2) Fully lost hype for the game. It is weeks until release and what do we see? Videos all over the internet barely reach 3k views it is less than failed (at the start at least) company of heroes 3 have even now, 1,5 years later.
3) the game that want to be successful is reaching early acsess without even 2x2😐, do I really have to comment on this? 1v1 is minority of all rts games and they just cut the most played mode.
You can tell me whatever you want, but it seems like the game is going to it's disaster.
Its because they decided to go a path getting feedback since the started of development, the game still don't finished, we are 1 or 2 year too early, but after game get optmized things will look better, but i get what you mean, i expected more one year before early access, but they know the amount of criticism and really is going to optimized every step, i expected two more year before game is playable, and 2 more year to surpass sc2 im everything
hatred towards the art style? I see the same people crying over and over again and everyone else loves it.
Zzzzzzzzz
@@mr.leanflakes-highlights1556 oh yeah, you can just bury your head in the sand and ignore obvious things. 1) NOONE in the entire community really fan of this art style, "it is ok", " i have no problem with that" these are the absolute maximum that you can find on the entire internet about the art style, even stormgate central said that artstyle is Ok. 2) You can ignore whatever you want, but devs would not post several texts and videos answering to the art hate if it would not be HUGE. 3) Right after artstyle was revealed SG lost almost the entire hype, it started with hundreds of thousands views and what now? The game is almost deadborn, any video can't even reach even 10k, this is a disaster. 4) Who loves it?) Who in the galaxy?) At maximum people are OK with that. If your statement is true than why the most liked comment under "Stormgate Founders Address Art Style "is "They are really going to regret not changing the art style"?) Because MOST part of the players loves it? yea, definitely... You're just liying to yourself.
@@darkpain2452 The only thing you should expect is the dead game. We are living in 2024, not in 1994, the rules have changed. IF the game fails at the start it would be a DEAD game with 99,999% guarantee. And don't tell me a shit about Baldur's Gate, it was reasonable even at the first shot, let see on other early access examples and wow, majority of these games never even passed release, what a coincidence. And yeah, if you really think that the rts game may be popular after a bad start just look at COH 3. The game is now A WAY better, I mean really much-much better than it was at the start and what has changed? Nothing. Even now, with all its updates the game is half-dead with 3k players (which is still less than even coh2). And I bet the same will be with SG, the community don't give a second shot for bad games these times, and atm SG is a bad game.
