Unintended pun: "Maybe I can scoot in, put my feet behind his ankles, control him with the Idiot Sweep and knock him over. Now I'm being offensive." :)
seriously, who would dislike this video!? WTF!? Another great video stephen! I mean when i say, you have changed/revolutionized my BJJ game. I tip my hat to you good sir.
Thanks Stephan, great informative vid as usual. I make all of those mistakes and I actually gave up the butterfly guard, because I just couldn't get a handle on how to use it correctly. I may dust it out of the closet and try to work with it again. Thanks for the tips.
Just the other day I went to the butterfly guard and I promptly got passed and spent the rest of the session in side control. I realize now it's because I was making at least one, maybe 2 of these errors. Thanks!
stephan you are the best man ! a lot of bjj guys tries to make money with bjj videos but you are awesome ! excellent videos free with no adds what more can we ask ?
Another great video Stephan! What would be a sweep from butterfly guard when your opponent is at long range apart from attempting an Imanari Roll to leglock?
For people asking which pros to watch who have an awesome butterfly, answers are Marcelo Garcia, Leo Santos, Terere, and Jean Jacques Machado. All have awesome butterfly guards.
What actually is the best guard to have as a beginner to sweep,as I’m a kickboxer, done little bit judo bjj enjoyed it know basics, but only practice here and there
Yeah. That's it's actual name. I assume it's because of it's simplicity and not because it gets idiots since he showed it, and I've seen purple belts fall for it.
first off this is not truly a butterfly guard , em portguese they call this position" ganchos em dentro", which is translated as hooks inside . " borboleta guarda" which is translated as butterfly guard is a different position that is similar and chained onto it
"I've seen these mistakes and I've made every one of them." What a humble guy! Much respect. Thanks for the video!
Do you have a DVD on how to beat the smaller opponent that has watched your DVD on how to beat the larger opponent? I need that one. Thanks

Stephan, your dvds and approach to bjj have improved my game dramtically. Thank you so much for all you do
Very good video mr. Kesting. RUclips needs more BJJ videos that teaches concepts and theory rather than techniques.
Nice video yet again Stephan . Short , sweet , yet very detailed .

Machado also uses the sitting guard a lot. My instructor got his 1st degree black belt from him and we train it often.
Respect from Serbia! Me and my friends started trainig bjj when we saw your videos. Thanks for coaching :)

Hey Stephan Kesting, what's the best way to go from closed guard to butterfly?
Thanks for all the tips man seriously much love
Thank you, master.
Btw Stephan, that t-shirt is very cool, you should sell them online.
Wow, you nailed it. Just because I'm on my butt doesn't mean I should be sitting around. Butterfly guard is a position used to pounce!
Great video
In rolling some guy sits on my ancles when I'm in the position then I get stuck and donno what to do?
Awesome as always.
Second is my biggest problem, my partners are smaller and they just pass too fast, I cannot get under to sweep!
Amazing! Thank you .
I find that transitioning to one-legged X guard helps in that particular scenario, for me at least.
