Any of our 1.5 inch or thicker mats will provide protection against serious injury against falls. Depending on your skill level for break falls, it may be helpful to lay down a folding or crash mat on top of the mats for additional comfort. Sprung floors are not generally necessary under these systems, but can be used for additional comfort/protection for those working on throws/falls.
Yes. They can be installed over concrete. They are not rated for outdoor use, but they are non absorbent. If you would be leaving it outside long-term, be aware that some fading may occur and you will likely experience some expansion and contraction with temperature and humidity fluctuations.
Our puzzle mats are designed to be firm enough to prevent that from happening. While anything is possible, we have not heard of that happening from our customers.
We recommend our 1.5 inch thick puzzle mats. The Grappling MMA Mats are 1x1 meter in size while the Home BJJ mats are 2x2 ft in size. Both art 1.5 inch thick. For extra fall protection for practicing throws, we also have folding gym mats and crash mats. You can find all of those here - www.greatmats.com/judo-mats.php
I would assume puzzle mats hold bacteria more easily and seem annoying to clean. Unless you tape over the puzzle seam. I have the rollout for this reason as a home mat. Much more easier to take apart and disinfect.
Great video, Very helpful! Was just looking for reviews on the mats. Just ordered 2 of those tamami puzzle mats.
Thanks!
Which ones hurt the least when being thrown from something like uchi mata

Would the folding mats in your other video be suitable for BJJ or would the creases cause a problem ?
Our 2 inch thick folding mats have been popular for BJJ practitioners.
@@Greatmatscom thanks, would you need some padding or carpet maybe underneath if using on concrete for mat protection?
@@BarryFromEastenders In most cases, neither would be necessary.
Don't use a puzzle mat, it still hurts to be slammed. I recommend buying rebonded foam 90 with a thickness of 5cm. it's enough to play Judo or BJJ
Would the vinyl mats be good for Tae Kwon Do?
yes
