- Emil Gataullin was born in Russia, in 1972, and lives in Moscow. Before studying Photography, he completed studies of Art. His photographic work appears in renowned magazines and online media, such as Geo, The New York Times, and Ogonek. For 15 years, he focussed exclusively on black and white photography, and only began to work with colour in 2016. His book “Towards the Horizon” appeared that same year, and presents poetic pictures taken in Russian villages. He will continue travelling to the Mezen in the future. He will also continue working on his long-term project about Kolyma, where the most brutal of the gulag camps was located from the 1930s to the 1950s.

This is the first time I see work by Gataullin.
He should become way more known in the west.
Love his natural compostions and beautiful colors!
Exquisite selection of photos ….and music compliments the slide show. Discovered new photographer thank you. His humanity is inspiring.
There's a remorseless, but strangely captivating melancholy to these - excellent work!.
This channel is very underrated! Keep it up :D
Thank you so much. I had not heard of him. Wonderful work. Almost brought a tear to my eye. Just ordered his book.
fully entrancing. And some of his pictures are sharper than the human eye.
Some of the colour interiors are a white balance nightmare to most photographers (me especially) and this guy turns them into a haunting reality with incredible strength. Thank you for highlighting his massive collection of work.
World class photography. A million thanks.
I have many favourite photographers, dating back decades: Haas, Meyorwitz, Maisel, Allard, Gruyard, Adams, Blakemore, Kenna and on and on… but these images as a body - historic, nostalgic, empathetic, perfectly timed and composed etc. are up there with any.
And that colour! To me, they show up how trite and facile (and OTT) many feted modern YT ‘sensations’ and street photographers work is.
And how unemotional, exploitative and grotesque the predatory work of Gilden and his followers.
Woderfully evocative images. Thank you.
Outstanding body of work. Thank you.
I absolutely LOVE this channel!!!
Wow! Powerful collection of images, he's a wonderful photographer.
Feeling a bit ashamed that I never heard of Mr. Gataullin. Thanks so much for this beautiful introduction to his work. I am falling in love with it. You have made a beautiful video. The music and the collage of photos come together so well. I am going to share your video on my Twitter. Kind regards from Amsterdam 💛
Beautiful people, beautiful country, beautiful photographs - of international language ❤️

Haces un gran trabajo al mostrar estos fotógrafos poco conocidos pero realmente geniales, nunca había oído hablar de él, muchas gracias
habra de todo un poco, muy conocidos y no tan conocidos, gracias por tu comentario.
this is a very enjoyable channel, like reading a photo book!
Superb video and images!
Beautiful work!
No other words - Great Photographer.
Grande cuore, grande anima. Grazie!
Currently using a Canon Ixus 12.1 mega pixels from a charity shop cleaned the lens new battery and card works a treat. No more carrying a load of ships ballast to take a decent photo.
ein super Fotograf 👋👍
So much decay, such sadness, so interesting to watch, things we never see and are hidden from the west.
What camera was used if you don’t mind me asking
Un vero grande fotografo
So good!
Beautiful 😊
I find that reflecting on Emil's work there is always a composition within the composition. I find his work lacks focus. Some of the environmental portraits could do with a tighter perspective on his subjects' faces, we don't always need to see all the stuff in the background as it only detracts from the story he is trying to tell. A lot of photographers are guilty of this, myself included.

...brain reset of today's life..Impressive.
