I don't know. I wasn't part of the bully crew, but I still found the mystery created with the variant dungeon fun. It made this DT scene so much more satisfying.
I despise variant dungeons. I didn't do them at all outside the first one. I understood Dawntrail 1000%. They are never going to drop important lore that 100% needs to be known into an optional piece of shit content like the snooze fest that was variant dungeons and expect people to know it when doing msq. It's always going to be explained 100% through exposition. In short. Fuck the bullshit that is variant dungeons.
@ please don't confuse my statement to mean it was required. What I'm saying is is while doing that variant dungeon across all of the variants, there was a looming mystery of "what happened to this group?" Those that didn't do the variant didn't have that lingering question. What I'm saying is because I had that lingering question, the reveal was an excellent bookend for me personally. That is in no way minimizing or appropriating your experience.
Agreed here. For me, it's not that running the variant dungeon was NECESSARY at all. It's that it ENRICHED it. So that you hit this point in Dawntrail and go, "Oh! I know about these people!" And not go, "Oh, so some Lalafell from the Source ported over. Got it."
Same. I went to get food, so when i came back, I was confused about what was happening. I thought it was a bit at first, but when I realized what was happening, I felt awful.
Lets not be overdramatic lol. Just because it gets mutually hyped up to more than it really is doesn't mean he got "bullied" or whatever we want to call it, because even if people got too pushy in dms about it its not like he is forced to listen to them, he's been streaming for almost 10 years now and has dealt with far worse through HotS I would assume.
I'm just saying, pulling the stream over and going to Bozja would have been a powerful statement. A polite reminder to vampires: The emotions are tastier when their genuine. This isn't Kyle's 'souls are more tasty when they've suffered' bit. If you want that, maybe check in with Preach. =]
While I understand the enthusiasm of wanting Kyle to see the cool side lore hint before the DT MSQ told you, it was insane of them to be that rude about Kyle not getting all of the side content lore. Maybe if the MSQ was a bit more vague about the Milala's true origins, it would incentivize Kyle to go back to that content and get the extra pieces to the puzzle. But the fact the MSQ just lays it out to you just makes the over enthusiastic folk look bad.
i love how the highlight still shows the part where jesse was summoned by the "variant dungeon slander" 🤣 but even jesse would agree with kyle, that the dungeon wasnt crucial to understanding this bit of MSQ. all them chatters who 'know so much' about the lore but cant remember MSQ just laying out everything you needed to know in that cave
This is kinda how I felt when they stopped progressing for months in Shadowbringers so they could level jobs and do the role quests. All for the world of darkness lore bit.
Ok so I clicked on this to see what the hub bub was about and I instantly found myself not paying attention to what was being said at all and focused entirely on those amazing glasses you guys are wearing...Where did you get those? I need them in my life.
I feel like playing the variant dungeon first might even be a net loss for this scene. It makes the reveal so obvious that - at worst - it could rob you of a sense of accomplishment that you could have gotten from anticipating it with just Dawntrail's clues.
I think the point is that you'd make the connection WAY sooner if you did do it all. I don't support the people bullying Kyle to do it though, with how late they got to it the variant dungeons should only be done if they WANTED to do it.
I had done Aloalo Island, but I didn't make any connection between the symbol in the stained glass and the variant dungeon. Only when they explicitly spelled it out that the Milala were from the island did I get it.
Honestly, I didn’t think the south sea isles dialogue would show up if you hadn’t fully completed the variant dungeon, I figured it was optional dialogue that appeared only if you did it! 😂 That really bites that chat ruined the moment though. It’s like when reporters do tons of research only for the politician to just up front say the subject of the research on the news.
I think all you get is an extra line about how you went there and saw it for yourself. They kind of had to state it obviously, though. Variant is optional content and not everyone enjoys that content (personally, I love it and can't wait for more). The MSQ doesn't force you to do optional content (and only once have they made optional content part of the MSQ, that being CT). I do all content that has new story or lore which could be relevant at some point, so I don't miss this sort of reference and satisfaction of being a complete Azem.
Oof, I feel that. I had a similar reaction in EW. I finished post-ShB and had read all over the internet that the Omega series is SOOO important to EW. So I stalled MSQ while I did the raids. Then I got to the Sharlayan Dock cutscene and was like "...THIS is why I did all that? To get Alpha and mini-Omega to show up and say 'hi' alongside NPCs from all the other major questlines I've finished? What a waste of my time." Granted, it did actually matter later, but still.

I feel so bad for Kyle. Chat was being so brutal.

@ True, but chat was being far pushier than at any other part of the MSQ, and it wasn’t even necessary.
"There was no bonus! I get nothing!" Kyle raging has some serious disappointed Wonka energy.
I'm just saying, pulling the stream over and going to Bozja would have been a powerful statement.

this is why many people in chats need to just stfu and let people play the game.
Chat managed to piss off most wholesome, most RP invested man on earth.
For some .txt.
Impressive.
Kinda backwards.
Hackfrauds "Msq scriptwriters" wrote dogshit .txt which held water worse than sieve and divided playerbase.

At least the immense gaslighting led to an incredibly funny and preserved clip. Maybe it was the memes we made along the way that mattered most.
Chat did Kyle dirty. 😂
I legitimately don't get the hate for Variant Dungeons.
I don't know either.
i think they're cool. i just want a solo run to take ten minutes and no longer,
"Please quiet your dog" XD I cant remember THIS being said on MY tour XD
Very sad it got to that point, but looking forward to the Five Guys variant discussion

I was here for this moment. I couldn't stop laughing. Poor Kyle.
Good Point.. Where's our Five Guys Variant/Criteron Dungeon Discussion Video? :P

I feel the push that made Kyle rage was caused by the 90% who left.
Chat broke Kyle lmao
I hope you did go get that Five Guys afterwards.
I did NOT recognize Kyle at first. He got some sun and I was like "Who's this hispanic guy guesting on the stream?"
Morning all o/
o/
o/
lmao at the Jesse Cox chat cameo @ 17:04
good morning all o/
I would like to see a five guys meal stream with talking about random topics 😀😀😀😀😀😀😀

Oof, I feel that.

Serious "your IQ is too low to comprehend Rick and Morty jokes" vibes, when half the jokes are lowbrow toilet humor.
