Hey Trent! you finally did my town. I live in the trees up in the mountain part of Rathdrum and Absolutely love it. The first thing I noticed moving here was how nice and helpful everyone has been. My Son loves the local high school as well. I started watching your Vids after we started building our new home or We surely would have used you as our realtor. We love the location for sure. It’s about the same drive time to Coeur d’Alene as it is Spokane and also quick to Schweitzer to go skiing or fishing Sand Point area. The one thing you didn’t mention is the snow hangs around a bit longer in the mountain side of Rathdrum above the railroad and you also hear the trains at times but well worth being in such a great place and Community. Still want to buy you lunch some day!
Love it! I'm doing another video on it. 10 Reason I couldn't live in Rathdrum. Let me know about lunch! I can never not take someone up on free lunch LOL.
@@LivingLifeNorthIdaho Sweet, we can meet up at Nadine’s for some of that smoked brisket they do and I can help you come up for reasons not to come here, Like Nadines is getting crowded. Ha! I wrote you through one of your lender sites.
I knew I'd find a video from you on rathdrum lol. This is where I'm hoping to move to whenever I get my 2 houses in Florida sold. My aunt and uncle live off of twin lakes. Also, it's kinda fitting to move over hear the Lakeland school since I live in Lakeland fl 🤣. Anyway, love your videos. Really mentally preparing me for what to expect living in north Idaho! Keep'em coming G dog!
I can't speak for Rathdrum now. Its grown a lot since I lived there in late 90s early 2000s. My son went through 6-12 in Lakeland schools there. They are some of the best in North Idaho. Its a great family community! Wonderful people.
@@LivingLifeNorthIdaho you are welcome. I enjoy your videos. I love North Idaho. Always have and wouldn't change a thing about it. The natural beauty and outdoors trumps nightlife and city life!
We have some events that go on throughout the year. Rathdrum Days: it's a 3 day event of a parade BBQ and much more. It takes place in July. Truck or Treat: your average Trunk or treat exspirence quite small but really enjoyable. Tree lighting + more: oh yes the tree lighting. A beautiful tree lit up in downtown Rathdrum. Hot chocolate fires and after the fact book yourself a horse sleigh ride around downtown. Around 8:00 pm a car parade of decorated cars will drive all through town. Ball drop: on New Years Rathdrum puts on a Ball drop. Each year around 9:00 pm head downtown to enjoy that. 4th of July: not really an event but it's one of the best nights you will ever have. I do recommend wearing some formal of ear protection though. Hope this helps!!! ♡♡
Hi Trent!! Watched and thumbed up 3 of your videos. But I'm not here to learn about moving to Idaho. I'm trying to understand because what is happening to your state has happened to my state in Northern New England. I retired here almost twenty years ago. Yeah, I'm an old guy. I live in a town which inhabits about 35 square miles with a population of 2500 people. My domicile is in a hamlet so there are even less people where I actually live. After growing up and living in a borough of New York City for most of my life, my slow trek north brought me to where I am today. I've never looked back or had any regrets. Joining a local church immediately after moving here resulted in many friendships. Unfortunately, being in my eighth decade, there has been a great loss of some friends. But I persevere because I have embraced the land, the weather, the culture and most importantly, the people. My state is changing but I took no active part in that other than relocating here. I never wanted it to morph into some aspiration of "big city life." I hear you Trent, loud and clear. Chuck in Northern New England
I used to live in Coeur d'Alene and would have to go up to Rathdrum for my job. The people there are laidback. I hope it remains simple and boring for many years to come.
I live in a big city and don't really enjoy going out anyways, I'll be good if there is no big things to do. We usually do our own thing at home here, we have a theatre screen that we put up in our backyard and have a fire pit that we like to use plus an arcade that we play with now and then, I think we'll be good. I am also a chef so I just might end up bringing a new spot into town for locals to enjoy. We created our own little entertainment at home and would invite neighbors if we felt like it would be appropriate at a later time. I have been researching rathrdrum and it feels right for me and my family. We are a busy working but close nit family, so this would be great.
Hi Trent! Thanks for your vids...both my husband and I have a family history in Idaho (my dad was from Troy, his G'ma from Rathdrum). Can you do a review of the Troy area and maybe 'silver mining communities" ? THANK YOU. YOU ARE THE BEST!
During the winter when snowing, especially heavy snow, are you stranded in Ranthdrum or stranded in your house? Or can you still drive to Coure de lane?
There's so much snow that you sometimes get stuck in your house for up to a week at a time. The city tries to conserve power, so they turn it off every other day for a couple of hours. So, you really need a wood stove and a back up of emergency food. But you get used to it!
Love your honest opinions...one thing you should mention is that Idahoans get quite upset with crazy drivers. We are legal and don't like drugs or illegal acts. Also, there is another Mexican restaurant is La Cabana next to the one grocery store.
I lived in Rathdrum from 1997 to 2011, moved due to husband’s career change and daughter choosing an out of state college. I miss rathdrum and will be purchasing acreage to spend summers there as we have moved to kuna, idaho in southern idaho. I was a Realtor from 2000 to 2011, Trent is extremely knowledgeable about North Idaho. As for train sounds, we became so used to hearing them that we missed them when we didn’t and have the same situation in Kuna. We love Rathdrum, it is a great place for kids to grow up! Trent is right about the snow belt - it starts in Rathdrum and gets heavier the further north you travel, but its beautiful and not hindering and we had several horses while living there!! Use Trent as your Realtor, he is so knowledgeable!!
@Diane Ibsen the prices have gone up everywhere but there are still some fairly affordable places in the Rathdrum area. It all depends on what you’re looking for. Feel free to reach out to trent@livinglifenorthidaho.com and we can answer any other questions you might have.
I think the trick to making these types of comments effective is to say “definitely don’t move there” versus “move here..” Otherwise it sounds like your guarding a pot of gold. 😉
Thanks for making our lives miserable!!! Why do we need all these people. It used to be a great place until people like you ruined it with your greed. How many people is enough????
I'm someone who grew up in Rathdrum and lived in the area (sans about 6yrs for school) for about 40 years. I'll answer whatever questions you want without trying to sell you anything!

As a former sous chef who was classically trained in French and Italian, I'm curious to know what cuisine you feel the area is missing?
We just moved from British Columbia and Rathdrum is awesome! Thanks for having us

Please do a similar style video for Coeur D Alene. Coeur d alene has a type of living thats different than the rest of north idaho.
Will do
Sounds like the perfect fit for my taste….. just not for my wife. I don’t think she could handle that northern idaho winter.

you're not talking about weather/climate in Idaho
I’m not?
Hi. Can you tell me if rathdrum is gentrified like so many towns have become 😢
