Building a PVC P-rail for $20 (& Skate Test)
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 24 май 2020
- Even though a lot of you already have your own p rails and boxes I think this tutorial will be helpful to some. Skate test starts at the 4 minute marker.
Materials:
10’ - one and a half inch PVC
Two 10’ 2x4s or you could use 2x6
About 10 -1.5-2” construction screws
Multi pack L-Brackets with screws
#prail #quarantine #therealkylewood
This looks cheaper to make than those others with the support beam in the middle. Think I am gonna make this today. Thanks 👍🏻
Just made one! Thanks for the video. Helped a lot!
🦾
Very nice. Your spin out game is on point!
It was because of this video I was able to figure out how to build and progress my skating. Thank you! 🙏🏽
Thank you so much for coming back and letting me know. Keep the progression going. 🦾
Wish I could give two thumbs up. Great video.
Awesome. Now I just need to learn to drive and buy a car 😂😂 Seriously though that rail looks super fun and you destroyed it. TTP revert was sick asf 🔥🔥
I built one exactly like this years ago except I used industrial glue for the pvc instead of screws. Screws might be better for the long term though, easier to replace if you crack the tube.
I dispose this still of p rail but that 360 topsoul was fucking dope brother
Hes good
Amazing
Good job! 🤙
😎
Sick shit!!! Thanks bro
I've just made this to learn grinds and it was extremely easy and sturdy. Any reason as to why you make a support though instead of leaving it as is? Or is it just for gravity?
Because when you hit it at an angle, which is how I hit almost every grind, the single 2x4 just doesn’t do the trick. Too flimsy. So that’s why the 2 2x4 with a connecting joint is the way to go. IMO
how come your skates look so loose around the cuff? or is that just how you rock them, also would you recommend those razors SL's?
SL's are great, one of my all-time favorite skates. I switched out the stock liners for my-fit liners which might add to the loose look. If you use stock razor liners or another liner thats a better fit that wouldn't look like that. I don't skate my skate super loose like it may look. haha
Nice man
Thanks man ….making one
Hell yeah, have fun ✌️
Hey if you get a roof rack you can carry a skate park with you 👍🏻
360s sheeesh
Very helpful vid. How did you attach those 2 smaller wood pieces to the p rail?
Just some 2” wood screws, i think 4 in total and maybe 4 more to connect the bottom two pieces. Pretty janky lol
This looks great! I made a p-rail this summer but it’s kinda low for me now. I’ve been researching how I could raise its height. How did you attach the support blocks onto your rail?
Thanks! Glad you're getting back into it. I just used 2x4's and 2" wood screws to keep everything attached. Nothing too special there lol Lots of times you end up replacing them if someone skates it too rough.
@@therealkylewood That sounds simple enough, thanks!
Great bro! Why would you say the rail isn't good for negatives?
You would want a prail that doesn’t have 45 degree slant on both sides. Idk if you skate one you’ll understand.
Would this work for a skateboard? Great tutorial btw
Yes it could, but the trucks may break the pvc frequently if you’re not careful. So I would recommend the same setup but maybe aluminum or metal railing. Which you’d need a metal drill bit to create the holes to attach the rail. But that’s about the only difference. Thanks for the comment!!
@@therealkylewood sounds great, thanks for your help!
I hope I didn't miss this but what size pvc should I use?
1 1/2 or 1 3/4” both would do fine!
how to prevent the tube from breaking?
Don’t leave it out in freezing cold.. pvc is replaceable and easy to unscrew a broken pipe and reinstall a new pvc pipe. Also these work great for rollerblading, but other activities you’ll probably break them more often. In that case consider doing metal instead of the pvc.
imba
Did you just stick those blocks under neath the p rail or did you screw them down onto the one end?
I screwed them in with 2+" screws. Hope that helps.
@@therealkylewood in speaking of raising the p-rail, what size 'blocks' wood did you use, I don't think you explained at all how or what you did to raise the rail up like it towards the end or how you connected it all. Care to explain my dude? =)
@@vegasucram just a couple chopped 2x4s. Nothing crazy. And like I previously said just some 2”+ screws. Enough to secure. But honestly some people might break it. And you can simply reattach. Or try something better than I did.
Isnt a steel pipe better for grinds ?
Great question. Yes absolutely. But for affordable/easy DIY not the best. Gotta get metal drill bit, spend more money on the right kind of metal… but other than that the grind experience will be much better. Great question and point.
@@therealkylewood okey thank you haha im a heating installer im gona weld me some pipes to a rail ^^
@@alain1221ful lucky 🍀 hahaha
Do the blades hit the side planks?
Only on certain negative grinds. Not at all for soul plate or h block tricks.
Full list of materials used??
3 2x4's, 1 pack of screws with L brackets, 1 pvc pipe (1 1/4"-1 1/2"), and 4 construction screws (1.5-2"). Much love let me know if you still have questions.
Will this work with a skateboard
Sure but the pvc may break more easily. Which it is easy to replace if that happens. I would also think an aluminum or metal railing would work better for sliding on a skateboard. You would just need a metal drill bit and you could do everything else the same.
My p-rail still was $100 at the least
Probably a nice one I’m guessing?
