sup man! yeah been awhile, just never enough time. i literally have boxes piled up or reels with catch footage that i gotta clean up and compile. that's awesome you had a chance to bug Daiwa about this reel. like i understand the strategy behind certain non-US models, but there's enough room in the US lineup for this one. imagine a BG, BG Magsealed, Saltist/Back Bay lineup with the fuego lt tatula lt ballistic lt models filling in the finesse gaps, i think the BG Magsealed would totally round it out without cannibalizing anything. good to hear they're going to bring replacement magseal options too. i understand it's a huge competitive advantage to lock in fixed service revenue, but eventually guys will start mixing magnet shavings and WD40 to save a buck and then blame Daiwa when their reels explode lol. releasing magseal at retail level was inevitable.
Daiwa does sell a blacked out BG in USA. It is called Eliminator. Daiwa sells magsealed BG as well - it is called Saltist : ). The only thing u can't get is both black AND magsealed : )
I never heard of the name BG Maglealed. I heard of Daiwa Nero, which is a black BG with a magseal around the pinion on top and a sealing washer on the handle. The Saltist is a BG with magseal around the pinion but also magseal of the line roller bearing. If this one has both seals like the Salstist, it would probably be difficult to sell here when only colors are different. I have to say i prefer the name BG Magsealed and BG Magsealed Nero, instead of making a totally different name like Saltist for what is exactly the same reel. It is misleading people to expect better drivetrain in the Saltist, when they actually get the exact same zinc alloy gears of the BG. Some trickery there.

How is this reel different than the Saltist? I'd assume there is something different but I'm not immediately putting my thumb on it. When I bought my Saltist, I figured I was basically getting a BG with Magseal.
saltist has utd drag, air bail, and 1 or 2 additional magsealed bb's. apparently the bg may have a zinc main instead of advertised aluminum (alan hawk), but saltist has true machined aluminum main.
made in China like the regular BG. if you want a true JDM Daiwa spinner, i think you'll need to cough up min 250-300 (taking an educated guess here). i have to disagree with Rapalaman, nowadays in order to advance any new tech to the mass market, you need to reduce labor costs and scale up. every manufacturer builds in china, even van staal.
im sorta scared to even look it up cause i know i'm going to be ordering a reel from australia if i do lol ... ah whatever, time to google saltist ltd.

According to my understanding the regular BG is very similar to the Saltist besides the Saltist being magsealed. So how similar is the BG magsealed to the Saltist?
For roughly the same $$$ as a Saltist... I just don’t get it the BG made its mark because of its price and quality. If you want the step up, buy the Saltist, it’s got more than just a BG with Magseal. Maybe the black is the kicker, I don’t know.

The huge spool diameter line flow freely in larger coils and produces less line memory coil.Smaller spool diameter means line flows in tighter coils as well."
just bought mine and it's awesome. we have it here Croatia fortunately. unfortunately, what we don't have is the damn sweet looking Saltist Back Bay LT 3000MD and I would love to get my hands on this one for that light spinning setup. daiwa is really messing things up...just offer everything to everyone
agreed!
Ish With Fish The saltist has the same zinc gear as the bg, the saltist back bay has the aluminum gear
What are the rod size you pairing the 6500 with?
a 10-12' 2-6oz rod would be ideal
Bring it to the usa it would be magnificent. 👍
How long did the shipping take from Croatia?
about 2 weeks (pre-coronavirus, might be longer now😬)
@@ishwithfish Makes plenty sense, thanks for replying :D
What magsealed purpose actually i mean what the benifit of this material ????
it acts as a frictionless water barrier at the main shaft and body.
Is this better than the Penn slammer 3?
no, slammer iii is superior (but heavier and maybe not as torquey).
the link that you have in your amazon page for the bg doesn't have the 4000 size, it goes from 3000 to 4500. where did you get your 4000?
ah maybe it's on backorder. the 4000 i had was ordered on amazon awhile back. no worries if you use another site, i'm sure you can find it online.
@@ishwithfish yea I was gonna do the price match thing at West Marine but Walmart sold out and simultaneously raised their price from 85 to 99
Can you upgrade the bail to a saltist bail?
I don't think so🤔
What's the difference between a BG Nero and BG Magsealed? I've seen a Nero and Magealed versions
Is it made in Japan? If so, I might have to make a trip with extra room in the suitcase! Any idea what JDM retail price would be?
Made in China like 99% of all Diawa. Considering how China is screwing us over in every way - NOT INTERESTED!!
made in China like the regular BG. if you want a true JDM Daiwa spinner, i think you'll need to cough up min 250-300 (taking an educated guess here). i have to disagree with Rapalaman, nowadays in order to advance any new tech to the mass market, you need to reduce labor costs and scale up. every manufacturer builds in china, even van staal.
I would not have got the fuego if I knew about this one.
Hey man check out the Daiwa Saltist LTD. It’s only sold in Australia. It’s the highest of the saltist line up and looks sweet
im sorta scared to even look it up cause i know i'm going to be ordering a reel from australia if i do lol ... ah whatever, time to google saltist ltd.
Fishingtackleshop.com.au they do ship overseas! Ill get one for the hell of it
I bought the 3000 for spinning and in the fishing with lure about 29gr ,the turning feels like ,'clack,clack... bad feeling !
yikes! sounds like there's an internal qa problem, id send it in under warranty.
@@ishwithfish This is common problem of these daiwa reels, my exceler 2500 do the same...
Yer right Ish, I'd buy one in US if we had em available !!!
Most places will sale worldwide! I got two of mine out of Australia
I need one bring it to USA
Main gear is still Zinc. Amazon selling for $290.00 ouch!! Ide get a Ballistic or back bay at that price
Come on ish, you got me all hyped and excited just to then tell me its not even available in the states?! Why would you make a review video that isn’t even here like?? It doesn’t even exist basically!!!
haha sorry for playing with your emotions, when i found out it wasn't in the US yet, i had to make a video to do something about it!
Ow got it! I wasn’t trying to be a doushe by writing that though, yet hopefully they bring it here so we can have a taste.!
@@enriquetapia6723 haha all good, i know you're just kidding. let's see if daiwa comes through!
I don’t know where you saw it in Australia cause I can’t find it here at all
Ish i just seen your review of the new Bg Maxseal. I want to use this reel. When i go fishing for monster flathead catfish. I want to see if this reel can handle the power of this cats.
totally can imo. i've seen the BG8000 pull up bull sharks offshore on yt, so i bet this tricked out BG could meet your demands.
Yesssss
i love my DW BG MAGSEALED 4500.
lucky you got one! i could do some damage with a 3000 around here.
I need an ultralight 4000 setup and this would be perfect. Don’t know why the 5-6000s are so much damn heavier but i’m sure they have the power
i got the 4000 for kayak fishing
the reel was so awesome, so i got a 3000 for light jiging and spinning
According to my understanding the regular BG is very similar to the Saltist besides the Saltist being magsealed. So how similar is the BG magsealed to the Saltist?
saltist has aluminum main, carbon rotor, additional bb and air bail.
@@ishwithfish which of the two is superior in your opinion?
@@maxdode3176 the saltist is the overall better reel imo.
@@ishwithfish thank you!
Blacked Out BG Magsealed.. 👍
Daiwa needs to sell the generation black rods here
aaaand i just bought 2 2500's to replace my regular bg's... coming to the US!! dude, anyone can order these from overseas.
For roughly the same $$$ as a Saltist... I just don’t get it the BG made its mark because of its price and quality. If you want the step up, buy the Saltist, it’s got more than just a BG with Magseal. Maybe the black is the kicker, I don’t know.
@@jeffsmith8958 its a difference of $70-80 saved. Rough enough for me to understand the savings... not to mention rarity and cool factor. What else does the saltist have besides magseal, air rotor, smart drag, aluminum body, 7 bearings blah blah blah?
Iam about to put my order in
