I did the same thing I quit programming because I felt depressed and not excited about what I was doing then I switched to E-commerce and building my own business and I'm so grateful for the big step I took I'm more creative & passionate and earning more and free now and happy to work, we need to try other things outside our comfort zone because as u said its only one life.
I am a software engineer to and I cannot even imagine how hard it must’ve been to leave your job but I applaud you so much and this also some thing I aspire to do in the future, You’re incredible for staying true to yourself and for really knowing what you want not a lot of people can live a life having said that
congratulations on the life decision! I can only imagine the flood of emotions that came with the decision. You've been with Honey since being a fresh grad and have seen it transition to what it is now. Glad you were able to notice things weren't as you would like and are willing to explore other options in finding your ideal gig! Watching your journey since the Snapchat days has been awesome and I can't wait to see what the next chapter holds. Best of luck and have fun on your trip! Looking forward to the next vid :)
congrats! you definitely got this. I'm also turning 25 this year and between my fiance and I's jobs in tech and the airbnb we're running we're working well towards the financial freedom route too. also between my next job I have always said I'm going to backpack around Europe for a month so you're literally living my dreams! I work at a start-up esque company and the work life balance is hard sometimes but I'm super passionate about what I do and move very fast overall. ik I comment on your videos I lot but it's nice because as women in tech you're the most relatable RUclipsr out there!!
Omg it shocked me that u quit your job because all this while u have been an inspiration for me to keep on going after my phase of depression and suicidal thoughts (I commented on this before) and your videos helped me through it. After clicking and listening to you, I realised that u r a great person and knows what you want in life and I salute u! I’ll be here watching your videos always and all the best for the future! I know you’ll fly higher!!
Big ups for not just sitting and becoming complacent as it likely was the easier path, I am excited for you and really admire your drive - signed: an internet stranger
this is so inspiring to see. like it's that point in your life where your hard work has actually paid off and now you can enjoy ultimate freedom before starting your dream career. that's insanely amazing, you're so fearless and independent!
So happy for you Marsela! We lived in the same building and I don’t think I ever ran into you! I relate to this because I recently quit my job, moved out of LA and started working at a startup. Change can be scary but I fully believe you should always go after what you really want in life, and if you don’t know yet, don’t settle until you find it. Happy to see you living your best life!
This videos is so helpful for me I’m a QA Manager and I’ve been feeling kinda the same on my current job but also I feel that I still have so much to learn. Don’t know if that’s make sense. Thank you so much for posting this. Enjoy your vacation!! 🎉
I couldn't have liked this video fast enough. You are my favorite RUclipsr and I'm so happy to see you doing something your heart sets out to. All the best with what comes next for you.
I remember you saying one of the major reasons you chose Honey over your offer at Google was the size of the company - it felt fast and flexible. It makes complete sense you’re ready to move onto something new since Honey feels like a much larger company now. I think this life change is gonna be DOPE! Best of luck on your journey! 🙌🏽
Love this! Great decision. You need to put yourself first and seeing as we work the majority of our lives, being inspired and passionate about the job is key! I’m also in tech and we’ve been acquired recently too by a much larger business so I totally get where you’re coming from!
I come to your RUclips after taking a break and find out you quit your job! You're really brave and have achieved a lot at such a young age. I hope you eventually find what you're looking for! Hope to get my first SD job at a startup and work on start my journey like you have!
Can you please do a video on how you planned this trip? Did you go alone? What does your itinerary look like? I feel like I relate so much to you, this was a huge step to take! Good job for not settling and wanting to keep that growth mindset!! ❤️
Don't regret your decision for a second! now you have the time to work towards the best version of yourself and improve on your own time while also enjoying your life.
LOVED this video and everything you had to say about passion and feeling fulfilled in your job (I'm going through a similar process right now). Just subscribed! Looking forward to following your future adventures! :)
I have so much respect for your decision! I did a similar thing 9 years ago and stayed in Spain for three months just because. Today I have a startup and I just got accepted into an accelerator. Life is not linear! Best of luck on your journey and I hope we can work together someday. You’re awesome!
Omg Marsela idk if this is a sign or something but you have no idea how much I’ve been in the similar boat as you were about making such decision!! I appreciate you for sharing. I’m excited for your journey and I know you will do great with whatever you choose to do. Enjoy Europe and take it easy :) much love and support 💕
omg huge congrats!!! so proud of you for taking on a new chapter of life!!! you’re making big moves 🥹💜 so so excited to see what’s next and cant wait to see where it takes you!
Welcome to Italy! I’m not sure if I commented before, but I’m a software engineer too and I recently switched from a big company to a small(er) one and it was a little bit of a stressful decision, but I felt exactly like you were describing - didn’t feel passionate anymore nor excited about the day ahead. Change is good. I wish you all the best in your adventure!!
I hope you find that niche that allows you to be your best, most creative, and happiest. For now, enjoy your time off, meet new people and take in all the different sights and sounds-even the birds.
Seems you got the same goal as I do, Entrepreneurship. I'm quitting my current web dev job Wednesday and starting at Amazon next week as a Software Engineer and currently I am working on my side business outside of work, my plan was to get into 1 or 2 FAANG's and get my businesses setup while working in those companies then quit. I am pretty much reaching the end of my 9-5 job goals and finally the start of my business goals. Good luck on your goals, I definitely want to travel like you are currently, so that is also next for me.
I was so excited when I saw this video! I'm so happy for you, you're so brave to make such an important and life-changing decision. Welcome to Europe 😍and feel free to visit Poland (especially Warsaw) if you decide to stay for a big longer 😃I can recommend landscapes and beautiful cities full of cultural heritage here! Also people are very hospitable and welcoming. Sending love and I wish you all the best 🥰
Good for you Marsela! More and more people are doing this lately, I’ve made a similar move back in 2021, except I didn’t move to Europe haha I just subbed to your channel to see more content in the future :)
so exciting! it takes an immense amount of courage to go out and do something like this and it's crazy how much I've seen you grow over the last year or so. Can't wait to see what the future holds
I don't tide my job to passion because it changes constantly and honestly I like the stability of a fix income, that being said I understand the boredom your describing. I have been lucky for being able to switch between projects where I've learned a lot within the same company, because when I hit the mark with a project my motivation and my performance declines. Wish the best with the new endeavors.
I'm very excited for you and wishing you to enjoy the next chapter! Also thank you for sharing the thought process of living life with passion, helps to be reminded of that from time to time! Enjoy Italy (I just came back from there, hope it's not tooooo hot!) ✨
was watching on 1.5x speed because it’s my bedtime and it sounded like the birds were laughing 😂 but congratulations on taking that leap and choosing to follow your true desires. that can be such a hard decision to make sometimes. good luck on your next! whatever it is, i know you will be great! ✨
I can see you made the right decision. It's always good to do something that excites us and if the job isn't like that anymore then it will end up becoming boring. I did the same a few years ago and I don't regret it. I hope all goes well and you find a job that brings you new motivation and enthusiasm. Since you're here in Europe, take the opportunity to visit my country, Portugal. Beautiful country, good weather, delicious food, wonderful beaches... You won't regret it. 😉
I remember taking a leap like that. Just be present and do what you gotta do everyday. Biggest thing is daily action. Otherwise youll drive yourself nuts.
marsela, wish you all the best for your future endeavours, also something predictable, simple, familiar doesn't mean that's wrong, nor you're doing anything less than some who's in 25 under 25 list.(5:20) acceptance, wisdom, self care.. way to remedy, wish you best :) keep rockin!
Really excited to see what happens next for you!! Major courage to do what you did with your job, good for you. I'd personally love to see you do the nomad lifestyle but joining a startup would be great also, go for it 😊
Omgg wow !!! That's so inspiring! I am about to be 25 and will finish college in December. It's something I haven't thought about when looking into a company about thier changes. Wow ! Definitely want to give that a try to be free and just travel with my fiance 💘🙏
😱😱😱😱 I have not even watched past the first few seconds but I just had to say congratulations! What a beautiful way to take control of your life, live for you, and make your dreams come true. I have been dreaming of Europe since I was little and can't wait to visit for the first time someday. But anyway, I'll go watch now! haha I just had to say that I am screaming internally with excitement for you and this new chapter 😍❤️
aww thank you!!! That's so sweet!! 🤍🤍🤍 pretty terrifying to tell people you quit your job when you make videos about your job, but comments like this make me feel so warm and fuzzy inside and I appreciate it 🤍 hope you're having the best summer at Microsoft! I'm sure a Europe trip is around the corner for ya ✨
Hi Marsela, I’d love to see a video breaking down how much it’s needed to save up for a couple of weeks in Europe or for a week long trip to Hawaii. I’ve been wanting to do either after I graduate but have no clue if it would even be possible for me since I don’t know how to budget it 😅
Wow Marsela. I honestly thought this was a joke at first but then the more I watched, I realized that it wasn’t. It takes boldness for you to do what you did, I’m so amazed. Congratulations and I wish you all the best! I hope you love your time in Europe ☺️
