    tips for your spring rolls: there are bigger wrappers available, so if you want more veggies those are better. another thing, cut the shrimp in half, it won't make it so bulky, and it'll still be delicious.

    One of the big differences of being a software engineer in Brazil is the working hours... my working hours are from 8 am to 6 pm. It's insane... I hope my English becomes good enough as soon as possible so that I can work for a US company 😊 I love your videos, best regards!

      It's probably not the country but just the company! My manager knows I like to work 10 - 6pm rather than 9 - 5, and he's alright with it. Some companies/managers have stricter work times so it all varies! Thank you so much for watching!!

    As a jr dev, my work days get super slow before a release as the managers don't want to overcommit and fall short on delivering on release day. Any advice on what to do during this downtime other than chill? Lol

    • @TJHooper123
      @TJHooper123 3 года назад +1

      My advice is that there are a few things you can do to fill your time. If you have newer members on your team, make yourself available to them if they need help or have questions. You can do some ad-hoc knowledge shares. Other things you can do is to read some documentation that maybe you haven't read before. Learn some new things about some of the systems you haven't really had experience working in. This is most applicable if you work at a bigger company where different teams handle different systems.
      Lastly, you can always look at some of the code you've been working on or will work on and try to see where you can add test cases or refactor to reduce tech debt. You may not have the opportunity to actually make those changes if your managers don't want new code pushed before a release, but you can start jotting down ideas of where improvements can be made.

    • @marselaaa
      @marselaaa  3 года назад +2

      ^^ agree with TJ! Also a great thing to do is do read up on new technologies / what's going on in the industry outside your company / new technologies that could be helpful for your team to start using / different architecture designs / the list goes on!

    Can you make a video about what you typically do when you’re in a funk when you’re trying to solve a difficult bug? One of my biggest fears about starting my full time job haha. And any other tips you have for women starting their first software dev jobs!

    • @infinteuniverse
      @infinteuniverse 3 года назад +2

      It's not as hard as you think :), and if you can't reproduce the bug, just report that. It may be a bug that so rarely occurs that it's not worth fixing.

    • @marselaaa
      @marselaaa  3 года назад +2

      that's valid ^ but I also find that it pays to be a problem solver than a problem reporter.
      If you happen to encounter one that has nothing to do with your current ticket / is an existing bug - I'd spend like 30 minutes investigating and trying to get to the bottom of it. It's great if you let the team know "there's this bug, this is how to fix it, I'll make a ticket for that", and you can move on. That's better than just reporting a bug imo - but definitely report even if you can't get to the bottom of it. If it's an area of the project you're not familiar with, I'd ping the people who are more familiar to see if it's a known bug.
      If you're stuck while trying working on your ticket, there's more tips I have! But maybe a video with tips would be a good idea!
