Love that "teacher speak" to parents! I had to do it today, as our grading period ends Friday and I have SEVERAL students who are failing. My calls to parents went "Hi there, it's (student's name)'s teacher! I was just looking at grades, and noticed she is missing some assignments (describes them). She has until Friday to turn them in, and it will help her grade!" Not once did I mention anyone FAILING, but everyone seemed pretty receptive!
I have 6 classes and gave 46 F’s!! I talked to my principal and told her I feel like I’m failing them somehow but these kids have to WANT to learn, or at least be willing! Today our new semester started and I stayed from 2:40-5:00 calling parents whose kids were grade gremlins and didn’t do a lick of work in my ckassThen I was so upset I called six parents with Progress Praise telling them how much I appreciate their hard work! The parents I called were a bit shocked I’d be calling them to tell them something good about them! LOL!
You know when you stay after school an extra 45 minutes to have a “complaint session” with your teacher besties that you really NEEDED this video on this first day back after Christmas break!! #SentToMyTeacherBesties 😂😂😂
Back in the 70's my parents were told I was a great helper and very social. My mom said "oh, so she needs to learn to sit down and focus on her own work". Yeah, ADHD wasn't diagnosed back then. We were all just "hyper" or "busy bees".
Parent here with 4 kids, for extended periods of time 7, my favorite thing to say was"mommy needs a time out" instead of losing my ... They're adults now, but it worked then😊
I love the "teachers have favorite students" damn straight. Currently mine is someone who when I need something brought down to the office they are right there willing lol. No shame in saying that here. Is this student my smartest? "God no" but they try.
Hi Bored Teachers, really Appreciate your videos! I Sub from PreK-12, in a very large county in SC, day work or long term, Urban, Rural, Suburban, Good Schools, challenging schools and messy AdminIstration. I find your videos extremely helpful so I’m prepared for Most assignments I accept. I mostly prepared for ANY school/Classroom encounter! Peace into 2023!🌹🥰
I shamefully laughed hardest at "We all cry in our cars." That's so terrible, but you said it so funny. Now I'm making a shirt that says "Teaching is hard. Crying helps."
I was the idiot in math class. I was the argumentive one in English Studies. I was the forgetful one in History. I was the lazy one in Gym. But I was the most helpful to any teacher who was in need of anything at any time. Staying after class to help with projects. Carrying things to their car. Helping to lighten the mood in class with a joke. Some times just an ear to listen to any problems they may have.
C’mon, crying happens, and it helps. But, I can’t believe you didn’t mention swearing like a sailor when alone on the ride home. It is truly cathartic.
When my teachers would assign a book to read, I would always go out and look to see if there was a movie. Or I am going to be dating myself cliff notes. I hated reading.
Heaven help us, I do the same thing teaching college. Or maybe because I was a math education major as an undergrad and am teaching math in college now...
I have to disagree that being a leader means being bossy. In order to lead, you have to inspire people to follow you, and I don’t know many people who would follow a bossy person.

@@teachermatti I like how you did some celebratory calls too and it lifted your spirits.

Shhhh! They weren’t supposed to know this stuff! 🤣
As for the bribing kids to "make you proud" during an observation- hell yes! They always rose to the challenge, and I always paid up.

Awesome video. Brought me some laughs before I return "back" to work.
Yes, I don't grade all of those essays, participation, and I do forgot names.
Sshhhh!!! What are you doing!? You're giving out secrets away? 😲
(And totally spot on)

Teacher hacks sound a lot like a parent hacks for multiple kids lol 😆. I love it 😀
Now try managing 30 children.
SHHHHH!!! Why are you giving away all of our secrets?! LOL
Bribery absolutely works. It's a means to an end.

Love the honesty!
Lol! I cried in my car last week…😂 Love these videos!
Props to you, for being honest
We don’t grade participation at all in the UK.
Encore! We need more!!
I definitely have my favorites. Oops. And it's never the "teacher's pet".
I definitely have favorite students!!!!❤

Loved this video!!!
God bless teachers!!!!!
Truth!
Don't blow all of our secrets!!!!
I’m so glad I didn’t go for alternative certification. I thought of it at one time but the horror stories I’m hearing…..
When my teachers would assign a book to read, I would always go out and look to see if there was a movie. Or I am going to be dating myself cliff notes. I hated reading.

You should never be grading tests over the weekend. You don’t get paid for that.
Don't tell lol
A WEDNESDAY…. wednesdays are def the worst
As a teacher, I do grade my students' participation...
