- Conditions were perfect for beach fishing for cod, tough to film in though. I stuck at it for 5 hours and was rewarded for the effort.

I mean I love fishing but man you deserve a medal for going out there in that!
let's interact
Thanks mate. Maybe not on this session, but the cod seem to like a bit of rough so I guess I have to as well 👍
Don't let anyone ever call you a fair weather fisherman your dedication knows no bounds.
Cheers buddy
Now that's dedication, Good effort
...Or stupidity!
Forget thanking us for perseverance mate, you should get a medal for staying out as long as you did. Good job on the codling, you deserved a giant.
cheers mate appreciate that. Tight Lines 🎣👍
My 'kin hero! Hard as. I actually cheered when you landed that little cod. Best show out there! :-)
Love it! thanks mate
You deserved that little codling for perseverance! Glad you finished with a smile on your face though, saved the blank, well done.
Cheers mate 👍
Haha I've seen you land some cracking fish but that little un put the biggest smile on your dial, well done mate look forward to seeing the next one
haha yeah I guess it did. I love the process as much as the catching part of fishing, even more so when it's hard going.
Bloody hell, you are a much braver man than I am...... that fish was WELL deserved Slippy, well done.
Good to see the reality of fishing at times, puts things in perspective!
And YES....I did stay to the end lol ! 🎣
Not sure it's bravery, more like stupidity! Thanks for persevering to the end, really appreciate it. Tight lines👍🎣
@@SlippyLimpets defo bravery, though maybe a little bit of madness......o.k,a LOT of madness!! lol.
GREAT video for it though, well done again.🎣
Love your attitude man.
Staying so positive when most of us would go home.
Got your fish though, well done
Thanks man, appreciate it
Brilliant! It's not always about catching fish, it's about enjoying yourself... and it was plain to see that you did. Nice one 👍
Hit the nail on the head mate, the process can be just as rewarding as catching
Excellent video and really well done for sticking it out. Catching that one small codling makes it all worthwhile. Your excitement is infectious. As anglers, if you take away the words “ hopefully “ and “ fingers crossed “ we we don’t have a lot more to say. Tight lines and stay safe..
Couldn't agree more! Tight lines🎣👍
Holy crap. You definitely get a nomination for the perseverance award for that fish. If you haven't seen RUclips's 'Conspicuous Perseverance Award' yet, it's in the form of a finely crafted yet very shitty stick mounted upon a suspiciously brown-coloured high speed fan atop a plinth fashioned from a big-arse brick to which is tied a note bearing the legends 'bring it on' on one side and 'felt nowt' on the other. Previous laureates have included Wile e Coyote (nominated three times), Oliver Reed's liver and that bloke from the 'Drill Sergeant' Malibu advert so you're in good company there. Keep going fella! I'll sithi after, Dave.
Haha, Dave your comments are the best. I haven't seen that award but I feel privileged to be placed along side such highly esteemed winners, especially Wile e Coyote, that dog just never gives up. Makes me wonder whether it's stupidity of just pure single mindedness!
That was a tough session, well done 👍
Tough but enjoyable👍
Hats off to you mate, you fought through some bad weather and weed, but you saved the bland, well done. I've been following you for quite some time now and i love all your vids. Top man, thank you and i look forward to seeing a lot more.
Thanks for your comment and sticking with the channel, much appreciated!
These fishless trips in trying conditions are what conditions us avid fishermen. Some years are tough and you just have to persevere, keep doing what you are doing and eventually it all comes right - know this from many, many nights spent chasing 'the silver ghost', the mighty mulloway around Sydney 1997 - 2008.
Thanks Frank, sound advice and thanks for watching!
That took me back 40-odd years, fishing off the Ayrshire beaches, but without any wet gear, no torch, far less a tripod, cameras and any form of sustenance. I had good bait though and I can stiil enjoy the sense of achievement now. Not to mention my children loved whatever I managed to catch. Loved the video. Tight lines and take care.
You're a braver man than me, that's for sure. Not sure I would have gone out without any wet gear. Glad you liked the vid, thanks for the comment and tight lines 👍🎣
Well done for not giving up - I normally move to a complete different venue when the weed is like that. Maybe I should persevere a bit more. Apparently mono is a bit better for fishing in weed? I stopped using mono ages ago but think I will start keeping a spool in the box and give it a go.
let's interact
I sometimes move venue as well but I know that beach quite well and the tide seems to shift the weed around a fair bit, so was pretty confident it would move past. I've heard the same about mono but just can't bring myself to use it again
@@SlippyLimpets Yeah I'm the same I've not used mono in years but if it's good enough for Alan Yates I think it's worth a go. Would make a good video testing the theory.
I'm fishing a venue tonight and the last 4 times I've tried has been full of bad weed. But normally I go there on an easterly and big tide. Tonight is a very small tide and westerly which I would never normally bother with but I want to see if the weed is still a problem with the opposite conditions. I will take a mono spool with me incase.
That is pure dedication to the sport, love your videos
Thanks Al!👍🎣
Can’t wait to see you back on the kayak sessions mate,, pure utube gold 👏👍🔥
Just waiting for a break in the weather mate and then I'll be out on the Yak, hopefully the swell dies off enough tomorrow
Dude, you are close to legend.! I do a similar thing, camping on the beach, but you just don't give up. I saw your hands glowing red. Well done and thanks for the entertainment.
I like to call it perseverance, my other half calls it stubbornness! 😂 Glad you liked the vid and thanks for the comment👍🎣
That was dedication......dying to get out myself but can't with restrictions. Watching your videos takes the edge off though. Please keep them coming.
They are nightmare and hope they end soon. Got a coupe more to come so hope they help out.
Good on you for sticking it out keep up the good work
Thanks 👍
Out last night in freezing rain for 4 hours and not a single bite. Well done on beating the blank which was more than I managed. My hands thawed out about noon today.
Good going to last 4 hours! I don;t know about you but the thought of the next cast bringing a fish in can help keep you going. Hope you catch next time out
And yes I made it to the end. Always entertaining and glad you didn’t blank 👍
let's interact
Thanks for persevering👍🎣
Hardcore !
I remember those days; memories are made of sessions like these 👍
Cracking effort mate sticking it out in those conditions and managed to save a blank with the little codling. Hopefully get out myself next few weeks. Tight lines Charlie 🎣🎣🎣
Thanks mate, hope you get out soon and have an easier time than me. Tight Lines🎣👍
@@SlippyLimpets - me too, hopefully over Cambois or the Sluice 🤞🤞👍👍
Top marks mate sticking it out in that weather. And no blank . I’d have fished somewhere more sheltered but I know how it feels to blank having just had a third yesterday. Tight lines
I probably don't know enough marks, but i know this one was sheltered from the big swell so thought I'd rather been cold and wet than not able to hold bottom. Hope you beat that streak soon and tight lines👍🎣
Jeeez for one moment thought I'd tuned into an episode of the 'Deadliest Catch' .. We'll done for you knicking the little bearded one 👍👍👍
what a show mate ,you deserve some sort of award for going out in that, stay safe
cheers mate, that little fish was all the reward I need. Tight lines🎣👍
Well done. I thought I was mad but you've you put me to shame there, glad you didn't blank. Already looking forward to your next video tight lines
Thanks Col, working on the next one now so hopefully out early next week. Tight lines!!
Great to see you back out man God on ya🙂😊
Thanks 👍
Have you not got a beach buddy bruv? You Northern guys are hardcore 😂😂😂💙 In it to win it, well done mate.....
I do mate, but Northumberland has been in the toughest restrictions since October so means i'm going solo a fair bit more than usual. Thanks for the comment
Hey mate, playing catch up with your videos, lock down, home schooling and all that, can’t be helped I’m afraid. Absolutely superb video mate. Fish or no fish, I would have given my right nut to have been there in that. Unfortunately being stuck in West Yorkshire means any sort of session is not on the cards for now, so thank you, thank you, thank you for sharing it with us. I normally ask you for advice, but on this occasion I’m going to humbly offer it. I’ve fished the North Sea in the snow and wet a few times now (when you live in the centre of the country, we fish whatever we find if the Doris’s say we can go) and I always take my zippo or Whitby Warmer equivalent. They also worked well when I used to ice climb too 👍🏻. If you haven’t got them, try them. Awesome two more videos to go. Tight lines
Take your time mate, there's plenty of time to get caught up, and thanks for the advice! I know what you mean about timing, I only get to go out when the doris allows so the weather forecast is irrelevant but i do love being out in a good storm! I've tried a couple of hand warmers in the past but found I got chilblains more frequently because of the shock of moving from hot to cold, and I hate getting them, so I prefer to let my hands acclimatize to the environment and put up with the temporary pain. At least that was my theory when i was younger 😂 Tight Lines mate 🎣👍
Brill video mate so glad you got one for your trouble
Thanks for the comment mate and glad you liked the vid!
Great video again going to a new spot in the dark takes some guts so well done look forward to your next trip, stay safe tight lines 😃👍
it's either guts or stupidity, haven't quite learned which one it is yet. Glad you liked it and tight lines👍🎣
Awesome channel,, determination and dedication is bottomless,, brilliant 👍👍
Thank you so much 👍
Thanks for the video. I am so glad you caught a cod. As a soft southerner, I will not be going out until we have consistent double-figure temps.!!
My pleasure. Living up here, If I waited for double figure temps I'd never get out fishing!!
what a dirty night well done on the fish mate, been like that here in the scillys for the last few days bring on the nice weather
Thanks mate. Yeah bring on the nice weather and an easing of travel restrictions
7:11 look at that moon man :) :) :) great vid, looked a rough session well done!
let's interact
I wish it was the moon, I might not have been so soaked if it was! I've been trying those up and over rigs you suggested but so far they've just caught me weed! Do you use the fixed or running ledger style?
I usually have mine a bit shorter as it does seem a lot to drift about.. Maybe better for calmer sessions not sure myself yet but i like using them they never seem to tangle somehow. Cant go wrong with a paternoster though.. Do you clip yours down?
Btw i use mine with one of those gemini proper pulley things lol
If you're prepared to go out in those conditions I'm quite happy to sit here in the warm and dry and watch you 🤣🤣 Great effort and love your enthusiasm, and all things considered the sound and footage were great 👏👏💪
In that case I'll keep on fishing for the both of us!! Thanks for the feedback on the quality, I thought sticking a bin bag over the my mic would have ruined it but it did seem to work quite well. Tight lines 👍🎣
@@SlippyLimpets Good work !!
👏👏 well done, so glad you got the codling, that weather you were in was terrible, thanks for the video 👍👏👍👏
No problem, hopefully next time out won't be so bad.
Great videos mate, I've been watching them all day.
Thanks for cruising the channel mate, hope you enjoyed👍🎣
Mate well done on sticking it out in that weather. You deserve to get a giant pal . Well done your a true fisherman pal.
Thank you but you're too kind mate. Keep the vids coming🎣👍
Better than a blank can't wait to get back up to the boarders with the light gear once we can travel tight lines bud
Too right mate, having to bait fish is canny but it's not as fulfilling as getting hammered by pollack and codling on the light stuff. Stay safe and tight lines mate 👍
Brilliant as always especially as I'm currently not allowed to sea as to far to travel keeping me sane dude lol👍🎣
Sorry to hear that dude, hopefully it will all be over soon!👍🎣
Loved the video haven’t been able to go much so enjoyed watching thanks.
My pleasure and hope you can get out shortly!
Well nobody can say ya didn't work for that little Cod,,, looked bloody awful conditions 🎣🎣👍👍
It was pretty tough but just adds to the reward of catching a tommy. Tight lines👍🎣
You fine weather anglers , only go out in calm conditions ,,, oh sorry that’s me that does that 😂😂, great video, you’re mad , a well deserved fish that was though 👍👍
let's interact
At least you had a can of cold coffee hey😂👍
haha maybe a flask of the stuff would have been a better idea
Love it mate! Cant beat fishing in those conditions!!!! And when you catch something its magic. Well done for doing that.
that was rough! Defo getting up to that neck of the woods when lockdown is finished. Looking forward to the next one!
Yeah, it certainly brings a different element to fishing and one I really enjoy too. Tight lines!
Massive commitment 👏
Respect mate I’d have given up long ago, well deserved and hard won fish
USA here. Buddy, it took some kahunas to stick with that weather. As you fellas say over there, glad you saved a blank. 👍
Hello USA! thanks for watching and I'm glad i didn't get skunked as well. Tight lines 🎣👍
Excellent vid,if ever a session owed you a fish that was the one.
Wow,fair play to ye ,persistence and endurance paid off in the end, sadly my nights of being out in those conditions are long gone but I still enjoy night fishing
Thanks mate, can't beat a bit of night fishing no matter what the conditions are like
Great stuff as usual you deserved something bigger but well done for persevering as long as you did fishing at its best and worst 😃👍
Thanks mate, appreciate it
Haha haha.... Nat, you are off your chops fishing in that shit mate, and 10/10 for effort.
BTW, I we call those big weed clumps 'kelpamari', (as opposed to calamari), bloody horrendous after a big blow.
I bet you miss the classic NE weather really mate!
@@SlippyLimpets on reflection mate, no not at all....
Tough going thanks for the video.👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
No problem 👍
Good video glad you did not blank what a night well done
Glad you enjoyed it
Well done mate that looked a bloody tuff un, its amazing the smile one little fish can bring . . Get ya'self a vass350 winter smock lad there toasty. . Stay safe and tight lines 👍👍🎣🎣
I need to reproof that coat but if that doesn't work i'll check the Vass one out. thanks mate and tight line🎣👍
chilblains!
Nice, that fish would have made it worth while for me too ✋
Aye, chillblains, that's what they're called, couldn't think of the proper name in the car
Just in time mate going around the bend not being able to fish, 🐟🎣👍 top video and that weather. 🐡
Hopefully we might get out soon, but until then, I've still got a couple more vids to come
i still reckon your as mad as a box of frogs mate , but fair play to you sticking that out , nice one chap stay safe

you might be right mate, but when you've got to go, you've got to go. If you know what I mean. Tight lines🎣👍
@@SlippyLimpets i know exactly what you mean chap tight lines mate
Fair play to you fella!
Sticking it out in that Nautical weather you have my respect as a softy from South Wales lol
Nice one buddy
Thanks 👍
Well done for getting out there in those conditions. Thought a few more fish would have showed but at least you didn't blank 👍
You and me both mate. Maybe I was a day too early
Great to see you back 😁🐟🐟🐟🐟🐟
Thanks 👍
Another cracking session and video m8 atrocious conditions but ideal for the cod that were slow showing but managed to save the blank. It goes without saying m8 your an hardcore angler not just a fair weather angler, you get quality bait and target your species despite the conditions like you said you have to be in it to win it, top angling m8 hope you soon warmed up in the car 👍
Thanks mate. I was really surprised there weren't more fish about given the conditions. Looking back I think I was probably a day too early. Hopefully next time I'll time it right!! Thanks again and tight lines 👍🎣
Better luck next time m8 looked perfect conditions good luck and tight lines on your next session m8 👍
Well done for toughing it
Out saved the blank again
BTW the audio was fine
Thanks for letting me know, seems that the bin bag gaffer taped over the microphone did it's job!
Perseverance pays off top lad get in there 👊
Some call it perseverance, my missus just calls me stubborn 😄
I’m trying Saturday night so fingers crossed, we’ll done on not blanking
Big lug baits on 3/0 -4/0 pulley pennel .
Hope you get into the fish!
I’m going to my favourite spot tomorrow i just wanna thank the angling trust for let us go fishing again
You got that right mate, those people have put the hard work in for us and I hope every angler appreciates it. Hope you had a good session
@@SlippyLimpets nah blanked we had bites but my rig failed I’m switching back to krips we had the right bait the right tide and we had a perfect temperature so the cod were out However someone caught a 5 pound cod
Nutter !! you are a better man than me out in that storm lol
Maybe a little less sense
Well you toughed it out mate well done great vids
Glad you enjoyed it
I think I may have fished the same storm on the Humber wall ⛈ I started to get set up but my hands were numb my legs were wet rain running of my coat ..I just went home 🏠 ..so you put me to shame...good on you mate
Not sure I could have stuck it out as long as i did if I'd had wet legs as well! Thanks for the comment
enjoyed your video good considering the weather my sort of weather
There's something good about battling the elements as well as the fish👍
@@SlippyLimpets so agree dont mind the weather as long as its dry when i set up
Nice one mate ,cold coffee ☕️ 👍🏻
let's interact
Gotta have my caffeine hit!
well deserved, not many anglers would have stuck it out, well done.
I had a feeling I would catch, the conditions were too good not to, so that kept me going
Mate you are hardcore really good video
That first lump of weed was like fishing at Easthaven, need a winch to get it back. Was a strange season just gone, caught more Cod in the summer than during Cod season.
It can be an absolute nightmare on that beach. My mate lost a whole spool of braid trying to get a lump in. You're right about the season being a strange one, some people said it had been really good but I found it really poor. Summer has been much better
I’ve had a hard season as well. Pretty much finished for the winter now. Still fish about but now due to restrictions it limits me to only a handful of marks which are now rammed everytime the seas away .every night is like a saturday night angler wise. Not for me! Bring on the bass in spring eh
I know what you mean about the restrictions, I'm lucky enough to live close enough to the coast to go fishing but not sure I could socially distance on any of the local marks at the moment, they are packed every night. I'm normally lure fishing for pollack at this time of year but have to travel, so i'm twiddling my thumbs waiting to be able to travel again
Great video Slippy and congratulations on catching a specimen sized bag of kelp, was it a PB or no
Haha, probably the first time I've said this, thankfully it wasn't my PB, I've had bigger
A good video mate keep it up
Thanks, got a couple more to come shortly 👍
Ano the feeling mate a have juat been down newbiggin by the sea and had 1 coley first chuck had more and gave up wind rain and snow
Good going, bet you're glad you didn't blank👍🎣
@@SlippyLimpets indeed back out either tomorrow or tuesday cant decide yet
Well as you grow older you start to realize some times it's just not worth the bother. Good video mate.
I'm 39 so thought i would have learnt my lesson by now!
brave toon lad great video
Glad you liked it 👍👍
nice vid mate
Legend!
Hi mate, curious to know what that was put the line into when casting rather than you holding the line down ? Is this an attachment or part of that rod ?
casting cannon
@@dongle_dangler thanks mate
Yep, Breakaway Cannon. They save cutting your finger up on braid and using those stupid finger stalls
@@SlippyLimpets cheers pal. I’m surprised I have any skin left on my finger so I will look into this.
lol legend, well done lad, looked a bit fresh out there haha what go pro light was you using .
Aye, fresh is one way of putting it! I've got an Aputure AL-M9 light, quite small but packs a punch
Think l would wrapped in long before that, 10/10 for perseverance. Need new decent waterproofs if your getting wet.
let's interact
Yep you're right about the waterproofs. It's a pretty old jacket and ut's had some hammering so might be time to re-proof it
That was mad lol. but THANKS for doing it . how did u light a cig in that
Haha good question. Lighting it wasn't the problem, just open my jacket and lit it in side. Making the rollie was the tough part, must have gone through about 10 papers
good video 👍🏻
Cheers Tommy, I appreciate it your comment.👍👍
Typical Geordie mad as a hatter.
Love it you can't beat a bit of adverse weather conditions to make you feel alive.
You're right about the adverse weather and feeling alive, I love the feeling of battling the elements.
100% for effort 👌
