Enjoyable session Nathan, apart from the weed, especially the purple stuff that wraps and clings to everything. Nice you were rewarded with a few fish. Chucked a couple of tip lights off myself last winter, but got it sorted now. Tight lines bud. Arthur.
great session, well done. Just a remark. 1st. if you checked your bait every 10-15 mins. and you had 5-6 casts, so you're fishing session was only about 2 hours, you said that you fished 2 down and 2 up, sorry doesn't make sense. 2nd. Have you considered having a spare rig ready to swap when you bring your other rig in. You lose a lot of fishing time by having only 1 rig. The way I fish, have a spare rig ready and a bucket of water, reel in, if there is a fish, unclip and in to the bucket, new rig, cast out and then I have time to deal with the fish and re-bait the other rig, ready for the next swap. say you having about 10-15 casts, 5 mins each cast, lot of fishing time lost. Tight lines for the next session.
Thank you👍 2 good questions. 10-15 minutes for a bait in the water but time soon ticks along with cleaning weed from my line, moving around with having to set up cameras and lights etc, talking to other anglers and more time consuming is filming. I used to fish with a pre-baited rig at the ready but realised how many bites I missed while making that 2nd bait. Guess I'm trading time of bait in the water and trying to maximise catch rate and making a good video. Thanks for the comment and tight lines👍🎣
Have you seen the BCT tip lights…. Come in two sizes, very slim and have a sturdy clip that doesn’t require whipping…. Great session and great videos… tight lines
I haven't seen them but have tried loads of different brands. The good thing with Delta ones is that they're so bright so show up on the video. I've ditched them and trying the new Breakway lights. They're slim with replacable batteries but nowhere near as bright. Glad you like the vids and tight lines👍🎣
Glad to see you’re still getting into the fish…the weed also 🙄 Funny weather the past few months. It’s too rough and windy to go afloat, yet not rough enough for the cod! I did see a big shoal of launce and a sole puffin feeding on them the other day, wouldn’t be surprised if the fish are gorging on those. Have you thought about a light on your rod rest to illuminate your rod tips, save you having to buy another tip light? Cheers
It's been so mild as well, so really not surprised there's still launce about. The cod I've seen killed for matches have been stuffed hardback crabs and big prawns, no eels or launce🤷♂️ I've actually got a light specifically designed for a rod rest but, could be coincidence, I've noticed that my catch rate drops if I've got a bright light shining on the water. I even shield the LED panel from shining on the water nowadays.
I remember reading in a scientific journal that the big launce actually come in at this time of year, I can’t remember why. If the lights a bad omen, keep it away! As it’s the festive season (it wouldn’t be if I had it my way!), how about some fairy lights instead?😂 I’ll leave the suggestions there! Cheers
Great stuff - I gave up with tip lights (like the ones you use), getting wrap arounds every trip , just forget to check and poor casts etc ... just going to use reflective tape for a while !
Eyup Nathan. Too much weed really is a thing. I'm glad you got the fish and thanks for the clobber tip. I really do need new winter gear so I'll definitely have a look. Sithi after! Dave
Alreet Dave, yeah it is, I was nearly turning white with the amount around. Couple of fish saved me though. It is good stuff for the price. Tight lines!👍🎣
Good to see some codling being caught, but I'm getting the impression that we're only getting them because of the respite they got during COVID. Next winter we will tell because they will be twice the size if they return. Great video and good luck! Here's to many more this winter!
Cool session as ever always nice to see some codo made me laugh at the end, as I've started to use a wireless mic (I'm well new to yt) had my mic in the drink once and in my waders twice lol, all the best hope your well and tightlines for the hopefully productive winter.
I've only started using them, and they're a pain in the arse! Might go back to just using the gopro, way cheaper and easier to use. Glad you liked the video and good luck with your fledgling channel. Tight lines!👍🎣
@@SlippyLimpets thanks pal, might need the luck, our channel will probably stay fledgling, we don't exactly put the graft in to find the big fish we base most of our fishing on luck...so assume people want the major content from the big guys like you, john Locker and the others who put the major effort in. We will keep at it anyway enjoy it too much to stop now. You ain't wrong about the mics my receiver plug just bend today on a session I'm in a proper bad mood now, can't decide to get a new one or forget it. Enough waffle chuffed you replied pal and all the best. Tim & Dave.
I'm flattered you've put me in the same league as the Fish Locker channel but I'm way off his league. If I can give you any advice then the best thing you can do is post at least one video per week, people will watch it for the session rather basing your vids on big fish, and the YT algorithm will reward you for it. As an example, you've watched my video but I've not caught a decent fish this cod season, but still getting good views. Bad luck with your mic, as John says keep it simple and it makes life way easier. Tight lines👍🎣
Canny session Nathan, a few fish for you. I've tried loads of different tip lights over the years, I'm now using a breakaway tip light, best 1 yet. Comes in red, green and blue. All the best mate and tight lines, Charlie 👍🎣🎣

Cheers Nathan for another great vid and info on the clothing. Regarding Chesties, I've been a long time fan of studded Oceans, never let me down and they've had some stick.
Not sure, maybe it's the channel name. Still, on the plus side it means I can use whatever tackle I like. Glad you liked the video and thanks for the comment👍🎣
nice little session, never thought of using one of those bait clips and changing the snood length, always use impact shield or imp, i make all rig bodies the same length, for single, double or treble, but can have single rigs with different snood lengths, is your reel full of line as it seemed a bit low
Aye, that's the beauty of those Dplash Downs, I normally prepare the rigs with the same length rig body and then have different length snoods to choose from. I lost about 80m in a snag so it is a little low, still a couple of hundred metres left on it.
Great vids slippy.i tie on my tip lights onto the back of the top ring not the top ring and not get any probs.donr all my rods that way.ok keep up the good work.

Hi Derek, Yeah, most of my bait fishing is done in Northumberland, most of my lure fishing is in Scotland and North Wales. Glad you like the vids and tight lines👍🎣
Nice one Nath...Weed or no weed you persevere as always. Good session with taxing conditions. Just a thought, would it not be beneficial to have a pre-baited spare rig or two so when you bring in a fish (or a weedmonster) you could just unclip and put a baited one on straight away and recast almost immediately. Would amount to more time with bait in the water. Enjoyed as usual and I hope your mic survives its dousing. All the best bud and tight lines.
I used to pre-bait a rig, after casting out, but found I always missed bites while whipping the 2nd bait up ready to clip on, so it's a trade off between maximising those bites and having slightly less time with a line in the water. Microphone seems fine, thanks getting to the end👍🎣
Unfortunately the Code doesn't work in germany but still bought the pants. Was looking at some haglof pants for hiking but will give these a try. Good effort on the fish mate!!! Really jealous 😅

Sometimes of the year the fish just seam like they crazy, you gwt bites like you did thinking its a good size fish then when you get them in they are barely 2lb lol.
Yeah, you're right, big bites but small fish! They seem to on one! I wondering if they hit so hard because they're competing with bigger fish- maybe I should try a bigger hook to try and filter out the smaller ones.
I find it can depend on the weather, if the sea is flat calm and clear then deep water with kelp or rocky ground is best. If there's a swell and/or colour in the water then they'll be in shallower water like rocky gullies and beaches with structure and sand bars. Hope this helps
