one thing that's helped me cut back on social media is getting prints of my photos. this is definitely less minimalist, but it makes me happy to see pictures of my favorite people and places framed around the house. part of what i liked about having an instagram profile was the feeling that i am documenting my life in a way. now i do the same thing, just privately through the decorations in my house. no ads and no random people from high school judging me.
Imagine "shut up' being the first thing you say every morning to snooze your alarm 😂 I thing I would just wake up too

Also, would like to share my way of storing files - I've recently upgraded my hard drive to OneDrive, so all of my files are stored on cloud. I had to because the hard drive I previously used ended up malfunctioning and I don't want to endanger my files again ever. Unsure if this is one good step to living a minimalist life, but I do hope it is!

Hey another great video!! Every single time you come out with a video it brightens my life and helps me excel. I know this kind of goes against minimalism but I believe that a fountain pen my be very ncie in your life. I see your love for worn things and wabi sabi so I believe a brass pen will be the best thing for you, if i had to recommend one it would be a lilliput kaweco ( not sure if that is spelt correctly) but even though it is adding things into your life right now only having ne pen and an ink will clear up your life of stationary for a lifetime.
Great tip about using the watch at home. Got a really nice watch last year (I decluttered my jewelry and kept the valuable ones only), wore it everyday, and finally trained myself to look at it for time instead of my phone.
But because of lockdown, most of the time I'm just ending up looking at my bare wrist THEN I'll go over my phone 😂.

I would suggest getting multiple harddrives though. Harddrives will fail, that's a certainty. In IT we say that a file doesn't really exist if it's not stored on 3 different media in 2 different physical locations.
Totally agree. After a few times losing my only hard drive, it makes me nervous to think that everything is stored on a single hard drive..
Lol. That’s why I have photographs - also known as clutter. But then aren’t multiple hard drives also clutter?
@@annetcell-ly4571 not to be a smart @ss but "A thousand physical photos vs A Hard drive that can store more than a thousand photos..." not a hard choice really ..if you are afraid that data might get corrupted then like what comments above said... store it on another hard drive... 2 hard drives that can potentially store more data isn't a clutter at all...
I'd rather choose an online storage service like Google Drive or Onedrive instead of 2 or more hard disks as I can access it in any device digitally

Great video. I did the simple wardrobe thing for about a year. Half a dozen plain t-shirts and two pairs of jeans (I even removed all of the branding from them) other than some jackets and underwear and socks and stuff. I had a physical labor job so this essentially meant I only had my work clothes - this created a lack of a barrier between work mode and home mode for me. I got extremely tired of it and felt repressed. Clothing is one thing, as a minimalist, I truly enjoy. I wear stuff for a long time but I love having a variety of clothes since it is a form of creative expression for me. I also have a lot of tasks that require different types of clothing: workout gear, causal clothes, and clothing I get dirty doing yard or mechanical work. People also thought I was "dirty" all the time which wasn't true but it caused issues with my employer at the time.

Minimalist Videos are much more relaxing because of the Video Quality (mostly the lighting of the mood) and nice background music (and in some|teaches you how to make coffee the fast way)

Great ideas! I would add a Kindle Paperwhite. This would be similar to your watch and clock. I have found when I read, in tempted... The Kindle helps me stay focused.

I’m slowly going minimal. I’m in the air force and will be going to my first duty station soon which will be q good opportunity for me to make the transition. I already sold basically all my possession and non necessities back home, so I’m taking very few things with me😁

Loose wires are also my pet peeve that's why I organize them and make it seamlessly as neat as possible.
Gave away 80% of my clothes/shoes, found some $5 plain black and tan tees that fit perfect and have one pair of black/white Nike janoskis and one pair of black/white Adidas. Used to have 8 pairs of janoskis. I'm happy with the same style and it always fits right and looks right to me.

Me personally: I do two things. 1) When I wake up if the incentive is high then I jump out of bed, not only the income but the reason why I wake must have purpose and meaning. 2) I put my phone across the room, I have to walk over to my phone and shut it off. Then I’m cold and annoyed, and persuade myself to keep going. Or I could totally run back into bed. -- In the end it’s all about discipline and what you deem important. We can own whatever we want without explanation. However if the goal is to own less or be more frugal. Then as long as you can afford the item and the space, then it’s all good.

If I can suggest, replacing external storage media with cloud storage; I used to have so many different size usb sticks, different model and size camera memory cards and external storage hard drives, all with different connectors and adapters and readers, that the act of archiving my digital clutter became clutter itself. I signed up for the 2TB storage plan on Google Drive and sorted and uploaded all my data to the cloud from all my different media. Benefit is that it is all in one location, all easily accessible from my laptop, my phone and iPads at the touch of a button, and anything I record or capture on my phone and iPads is immediately synchronized to the cloud. No hassle and fuss with cables and connectors and adapters to process any future archiving, it’s done automatically.
