What are some habits you’re starting to simplify your life? ❤
I removed my credit card information from shopping sites. It seems like a tiny step but it really helps.
@@ros8986yessss! More friction = less impulse buys!
I feel 1000 things that I have learned from you. You quickly became my fav youtuber (& will tell people all about your content when ask which yt persona I like best) when I found you a few years back.
Don't know why it took me so long to comment but Thank You for all the inspiration.
Not buying back ups of products and making a list and then reevaluate if I need it or not at a later time.
@@spookyvillevideo 🥹🥹 thank you for being here
🎉 I'm on a "use it up" mission this year. Funny little book of matches - great, put it next to the candle and use it instead of the lighter. Loads of samples in my suitcases... Great, let's work all the way through them and spa day it, every day. Half bottle of bathroom cleaner lurking at the back of the cupboard... OK, I hear you, let's scrub the taps. I'm hoping to move to the other end of the country later this year, so I'm challenging myself to use up all the "scraps" in my life and only move with great, favourite things ❤🎉
I love this idea!
I am also looking to use or give away - fortunately I have a neighbor who is happy to receive the groceries I am not going to get to. On Moving, Gayle Goddard has some great videos on moving, she is a professional organizer who has helped many people prep for moving, and also worked with clients on the unpacking and organizing at their new homes (there are videos on both)
Me too!
Me too!
Awesome idea!
I pick out my outfit for the next day every night before bed. And yes to packing your lunch before bed. These two tips have transformed my morning from hectic to smooth 😊
I do this, too but most times I wake up and don´t feel I want to wear what I chose the night before... which annoys me a lot.
@@elisabethhagspiel3695me too that's why I get 2 outfits ready and see how I feel in the morning to pick one 😂
I do that when I have to go to the Office the next day. Lay out my outfit, pack my bag, have my food prepared etc. This way I can also sleep a little longer😊
I’ve started picking my outfits for the week and meal prepping all my lunches on Sunday and it’s become a total game changer! I get to come home and relax rather than getting stressed about what I’m going to wear or eat
Same here!!
I'm simplifying my life by deciding that I'm not gonna be a gym girlie lol for a long time I thought that I should go to the gym but I realized that the barrier to working out at home is just that much lower. All I need to do is put on my workout clothes and cue up a workout video. By now it's a habit to just immediately put on workout clothes when I wake up. Sure, maybe I don't "properly" work out each muscle group with weights or whatever, but I'm moving and that's what matters.
Exactly this! I’ve been working out from home for the past year and I’m more consistent. I have the resistant bands and few dumbell I need and I still experience DOMS as bad as I did going to the gym. So it works out!
I, too, workout from home. The gym is too difficult to get motivated. I get up each morning and put on my workout clothes, do my weights and aerobics or abs.
Love this example of simplifying life
I do the same since 2020
I've always liked your content because you are very balanced and healthy with and about your stuff. I never feel like you're chasing after the minimalist aesthetic like so many other channels.
Thank you! I used to but realized jt was not authentic to me and kinda toxic lol - happy in the middle!
I get decision fatigue easily. To help, i have designated a color for each day of the week in my wardrobe. Its like having a mini Monday capsule wardrobe. It reduces my clothing options to 3 at max. Bonus: when I need a reminder if it's actually Thursday, I can peak down and know for sure 😉
So fun!
Wow, that sounds really cool! Thanks for this tip! I have something I call my work clothes, but I really like the idea of colors according to weak days
I’m also minimalist-ish. I gravitated towards it for more than one reason. I downsized from a house to an apartment, and , although I’m not at death’s door, I don’t want to leave a ton of stuff behind that my son will have to deal with when I die. I do still have way more clothes than a minimalist has, but I wear them, and I do closet clean outs at least once a year, sometimes twice. My non-clothes closets and kitchen and bathroom cabinets are not overflowing any more. My aim is to have every single thing in my apartment be useful and regularly used, or bring me happiness by looking at. The hardest thing for me so far has been getting rid of a lifetime of Christmas decorations. I am down to an amount that fits into the entry hall coat closet….with room for coats. I’m still not up to dealing with family photos and personal papers, cards, etc. But I’ll get there. I’m amazed I’ve come this far. Getting to a point where your possessions do not possess you, is definitely doable. 🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳
I lost 60 lbs last year and I was shocked when I went through all the clothes that I didn’t fit into and dragged around with me for 10+ years thinking…these might fit me someday. Well now they fit me and I let most of them go because I know I’ll never wear them. My closet is now filled with clothes that fit me and I know I’ll wear. If I go an entire year without wearing something I’ll get rid of it because there’s no excuse that I might be able to use it….someday. I want to implement the 10 minute reset for sure. Looking in my closet when I want to buy clothes - I usually buy the same thing over and over so being able to see my wardrobe is a reminder that I don’t need another blue sweatshirt. Maybe even take a pic of my closet so when I’m out I can look at that when I’m tempted to buy another black hoodie. This was a fantastic video!
This is what I need. I am minimal, but before I got my spring clothes out I had it in my head I needed a new pair of blue shorts. Was looking for some but decided to get the box out first and check. Sure enough I didn’t need them. I had only nine things in that spring wardrobe and didn’t even recall one was blue shorts! So you’re right. I think I need to take photos of what I have too! 😊
@@Chrissyhappy it’s worked a couple times so far! Not for anything specific, but seeing how much clothing is in my closet is enough of a deterrent. I hope it works for you!
Good on you for losing the weight. I have managed to lose 40 and am on the verge of the closet purge also. I feel a lot better, how about you?
I'm the same! So much of my clothing I find that I don't end up using, so I just get rid of them and donate them. You never remember any of the stuff that you give away because you don't really need most of the things that you have. It's just a consumer mentality and the idea that you "might need this" at some point. So I'm constantly going through my stuff and getting rid and only going to keep a certain amount of clothing items because I don't like having clutter. Clutter leads to a cluttered mind and anxiety because you can be overwhelmed by all this stuff that you *think* that you need, but you don't really need. So I prefer to just keep what I actually use, and then that means I do less laundry loads, as well. I also think that the minimalist ideology can apply to other areas of your life... keeping the good friendships, the people that really elevate you and improve your life versus just having a bunch of acquaintances you don't really vibe with.
Prepping for my next day has been a huge game changer! The night before I'll load up my coffee maker so all I have to do in the morning is hit the on button. It's a small thing, but saving even 5 minutes in the morning has made it much less stressful 😊
Yeah doing it all the night before helps so much….i usually pack the gym bag, my lunch and breakfast and put my travel mug right by the nespresso…i hadn’t thought of putting the actual pod in there the night before til I saw your comment…so now I am going to put the pod in place so that’s one less thing to do in the am.
I agree with everything except automatically getting rid of things you forgot that you own. I just had this happen to me yesterday and it was pretty shocking to me that I forgot, TBH. I decided to keep the item, use it, and replace a worn out similar item with it that was in worse shape. I guess I'm suggesting discretion when deciding what to toss. Thanks for a very helpful and encouraging video!
I like what Josh Becker says about minimalism. Just eliminating everything that does not serve you. I will never be the person who gives all my possessions away. But I will edit and remove things that don't serve are redundant or simply are broken, tattered etc. So this was helpful to show ways of maximizing your time and money. I'm here for it in 2024? 🥳🥳
2024: working my closet by pulling things from the back to front, wearing my undecideds one more time to make a final decision, and using the hanger method on this current season capsule.🥳
Yes! I call it “auditioning” my items. I wear it (or use it) to see if it gets A role in my life. My real life....not the fantasy one in my head. If the audition is successful, yay, there is a part in my life. If not, time to pass it along because there is likely someone else who would like to have it.
I bought a cute pink rolling chair at Marshall’s for $70. The wheels sucked but I thought I was now or never. A month later I found a really comfortable brown rolling chair that rolled like butter for only $10 bucks. The looks of the chair didn’t really matter as I always throw a blanket over it because I have cats. Functionality won over looks. And something old won over brand new.
Thank you for reminding me to pass on something that is not perfect for me in every respect.
I have always picked out my outfits the night before and usually try to prepare my lunch then as well. Over the weekend however, I downloaded the Indyx app and just cataloged about 15 items. By doing that I have already made 3 different outfits out of one pair of pants and just a few other items including shoes and jewelry. I have a feeling that this will be my new favorite thing to make sure that I am maximizing my cost per wear and actually seeing what I do and do not need in my wardrobe. 🥳 I figured out that my shopping was an actual addition about 6 months ago and have since made tremendous strides to knock out that bad habit thanks to watching you. I made myself sick when I went back and actually tried to track all the money that I had spent in a year; something about having to type all those numbers into a spreadsheet and watching that number grow is horrific and quite eye opening. I am never going back!!
Isn’t it SO fun! It’s like a game! I find it so relaxing to make outfits too!
I never thought I would go so crazy in my nobuy month. So I started investing time and energy in doing crafts, with things I already have. Doing good so far. Also working out more often, intending daily . Thank you ❤
I take pictures of things I want to impulse by. If I remember to look at the picture days or weeks later, I’ll consider treating myself (within reason). 99% of the time, I forget about the picture and therefore, forget about the item. If I *really* want/need something, it wouldn’t be forgotten.
I like that you use BALANCE! "A toothbrush & two pairs of pants" LOL 😆. As I'm getting older, I want less in my closet, home, and makeup drawers. A saved list is THE BEST for curbing impulse buying 👍🏾. Thanks for another great video ❤✌🏾
#10 is a very good point. Use what you have first. Do what you can with what you have where you are.
I'm also trying to style more and utilize what I have. Recently I realized I don't need a yoga or gym outfit per se, I can wear soft T's and other non-workout tanks when I exercise. I'm also experimenting with wearing more casual tops under a blazer or cardigan, for work. My favorite tip is spending more in the categories important to you. Where is your green duffle bag from?♥
Super helpful tips as usual. Thanks Christina! 🥳
🥳All good tips Christina, thank you!
Thanks, Christine! Loved this video. 🥳
My top tip is to, for each item or group of items, think in detail how much maintenance time/energy does this item require - dusting, vacuuming, scrubbing, folding/hanging/ironing/dry-cleaning/laundry-sorting, etc. For me, I wash all laundry together, and except for a few items (hang dry), it all goes in the dryer on medium together, then it all goes in my 'clean laundry' mesh basket together.
Thank’s Christina all your ideas are spot on will follow ❤
Always thought provoking and inspiring! Thanks Christina ❤ 🥳
Buy cheap, buy twice (or more). Best advice ever.🎉
🥳 thank you for this video! I can’t wait to start using the wishlist method and styling what I already have
I never thought before about "cost per use" factor in my personal finances, though i work in a field that includes production cost analysis! Thank you for this game-changing advice!
Stying over shopping. Yes!
🥳 I like how your videos encourage me to be better and not encourage bad habits
Even before the 1st minute of this video I've liked it literally lol. Thank you for letting us know that we can live like a minimalist without being an actual minimalist.
🎉 Such great tips, thank you! Watching your videos has been such an integral part in me identifying my personal style! Love the "if you forgot you owned it tip."
I pack my lunch the night before. Makes such a difference in how rushed or not rushed in the morning. Love the 5 second rule!
🎉Thank you for the video!
Will be using the 5-4-3-2-1 tip, especially in the winter when it can be so hard just to start something! But you are spot on that when we get over the hump of actually beginning something, we’re always happy we did.
Your wish list habit has changed my spending! I implemented it just after my birthday in October and so far I haven’t bought much for clothes, just a couple pairs of dress pants for work!
Great video! In my closet if I come across something I'm not wearing, I stop and ask myself why. There is always a reason, just sometimes it's not obvious without thinking about it or trying it on again. Usually it's something I can fix, like it needed to be hemmed, paired with an under shirt, cuff the sleeves etc. Then I take it out of my closet and either do the thing immediately or put it in a pile of garments to fix. Then I put it into an outfit asap. If the problem is that it is uncomfortable, then as much as I might like it, I donate it anyway.
Love your content, great ideas, inspirational with a sense of humor.❤️
Thank you! 🥳 Your wishlist suggestion has already helped me so much, thanks for sharing your tips and tricks to keep life simple so we can focus on what’s really important :)
🥳 Good list. This morning I was watching a video talking about French Girl clothes for 2024, so I started shopping for "burgundy" on my favorite thrift store online website, while listening to the video. I spent a good half hour in "burgundy," didn't find anything I liked, went on with my day. LATER, much later, I realized: I already HAVE a burgundy wool beret FROM FRANCE that I'm not wearing enough. It's a little snug, and needs to be stretched, because it's authentic French wool, and my hair isn't very accommodating of this style at the moment. Now I have to figure out how to WEAR IT finally and make it work with my life, because burgundy is "in" now.
Oh yeah -- and that Herman Miller chair, right on. I bought one (not like yours, but Herman Miller nonetheless) and it's awesome. Yours is absolutely gorgeous. You're going to love it for years. I bought a Honda Element in 2010 for the same reason: practicality and cost per use. I still have it and it just rolled over 320,000 miles. People are shocked that it has that many miles on it; it hardly looks used at all.
I actually miss my 2006 Honda Element. I regret trading it in
I’m finding planning a weekly capsule wardrobe over the weekend simplifies, saving time and energy in the dressing routine. I feel the intentional planning time brings appreciation for the clothes I have and love - i launder, I mend, I declutter, and this time allows for experimentation and styling within my closet. Thank you Christina!❤
🥳 As someone who doesn't need anything and spent over £100 on random sh*t yesterday, I needed this video! Thanks!
Thanks for great tips for minimal consumption.
I like getting things ready the night before. Sometimes I may not feel like doing it, but I remind myself that my future self will be so happy if I take care of it tonight. 🥳
Great reminding tips for me so that I can work towards becoming minimalish.
This was brilliant! Thank you!
Always food for thought. I'd started doing a couple of this to simplify grim winter mornings but putting clothes together also helps sift your wardrobe. 🥳
Hi Christina! I absolutely love the framing of using money to curate our lives. I’m going to keep that front of mind! Thank you for another great video, you’re the best!!🥳
🥳 I would love my mornings to run smoothly! I need to use the tip about setting up what I’m wearing tomorrow.
I enjoyed it. Thank you
🥳I start & stop decluttering all the time. Def want my home simpler
🥳 thank you. This was simple and direct
Every time I watch your channel I do a clean out haha. It makes me realise how much I hold onto and how much I am obsessed with one thing for a week then I forget about it. 😂 I found your channel because I was looking for ways to organise a then very small shared closet space. I’ve found the content really valuable and thinking more about style and shopping in terms of overarching values (also a mild shopping addiction related to how im feeling emotionally). thank you for the work you do! ❤
🥳 thank you for those good advices.
🥳 great video! Thanks for sharing
🥳🥳 Thank you for the great and practical tips as always! I have started preparing my outfit the evening before and it has been a big help!
Great reminders!!
I absolutely love your content, it's much needed so thank youuuu
thank you for the tips! I needed to hear this to start the year fresh🥳
🎉 thanks for all of the great tips!
Incredibly helpful tips as always. I’ll be implementing the 5 4 3 2 1 method, thanks Christina! 🥳
🎉loved the tips!
I loved this video. Thanks. the tip of counting down 5-1 is game changer.
I also loveeeeee the “spend according to your values”. Thank you!!! ❤️❤️❤️
🥳 Thank you for some great ways to implement!
🎉I make my lunch and my breakfast smoothie before bed. Also, I check the weather and let and outfit idea brew before I got to bed.
🥳 Excellent content. I have been working on minimizing and simplifying my life. It is so fulfilling to focus on creativity, quality and less consumption. Your channel is one of my favorites.
I loved this video Christina! Some great ideas for 2024! I’m in Hamilton, so not too far away from you and it’s been so cold! Hard to get motivated in this weather. But your video has definitely helped. I’m going to start the 5,4,3,2,1 today! 🥳
I love all of your videos Christina! Love from Greece❤🥳
🥳 thank you for the great advice!
🎉good info- just getting started with declutterring & minimalism. Starting in the kitchen.
🥳great ideas as always. Thank you!
Thank you beautiful lady. I’m about really evaluate what I value the most and toss the rest !
🥳🥳🥳 always enjoy your no nonsense approach Christina! Also your honesty when you get things wrong or they don’t work out! Reality wins!! Thanks x
this video was rlly helpful, thank you!
🥳Thank you for sharing these great tips.
🥳 Another great video! I am slowly changing up things that don’t serve me anymore…during COVID I developed some terrible habits, but now have conquered some and I am going to keep going. Thanks for the guidance and inspiration 😁
My front room is a mess! We have a baby on the way and all the parts of the crib are scattered everywhere, as well as my shoes (I decluttered down to just 15 pairs✨) and we have a lot of shuffling to do in general. I donated four large shopping bags of clothes this week, as well as over half of my shoes! Feeling pretty good, but there’s more to be done, for sure. Thanks for the inspo always!🤗
I look forward to your videos. ❤They are well researched and informative. I always takeaway something useful for my own life. 🎉
🥳
Useful video❤. I really appreciate what you’re doing
🎉🎉🎉Thank you for all of these really useful tips!
🎉 you rock, Christina!
This was a great video! Some of these tips I already did and some are new to me. Happy new year! 🥳
another brilliant video. On delayed shopping, so many things look wonderful to me, so the only way I can know what will benefit my life is to take some days and even weeks to see how often I need the item. But I also need to set a time limit on when I am going to start using the item. getting it in the house is only half the process.
LOVE this! Thank you for helping me kick off 2024 to a good start. I've enjoyed my minimalist journey and the savings in headaches & finances has been a game changer. Your content helps with staying focused, gives great ideas and is inspiring!
well done !!! love book recommendation 🥳
Great tips! I learnt some new things from this to implement! 🎉
I'm finding this video in April and it's a good reminder of how to stay track on my goals. Thank you!
❤i follow many of the rules you are suggesting and my life is sooo relaxing!!!plenty of money and time to relax and do what I really love.A hug from Sicily,Italy
Yayyyy!!
🥳🥳🥳 I love the idea of styling instead of acquiring!. That is exactly what I need to focus on this year. And I find that when I really get into that mindset I’m so much happier. I already have tons of great clothes and accessories. Why do I always feel the need to add more???
Very helpful, thank you! 🎉
🎉 thanks Christina!
Great video hands down!
I also got equipment and workout from home. Saves me time after work. I was gone until about 6pm pre pandemic going to classes I enjoyed but running home after to eat and go to bed
🥳 Thank you for awesome tips! I plan to make a little extra food at dinner time so I have extra for lunch the next day at work. I’ve failed with full on meal prepping so I’m curious if this helps! I’m also implementing the 1 in 2 out rule for purchases. I’m hoping this will help me decide how badly I really want an item. I already use the waitlist idea and it’s amazing. I definitely agree with your intentionality mindset!
Thank you! 🥳
Hi,
I'm moving in a few weeks, so I try to declutter before and kinf of reset everything. Very usefull advices. Thanks and have a nice day.
Thank you 🥳 I plan on trying the 24hr delaying gratification I think this will help me with my late night shopping habits 😅👍🏼
I find myself always looking for something to purchase. Usually clothes. Why?? Because it makes me feel good( temporarily)and its arrival is something to look forward to
Now i realize things dont make one happy. And i should be looking foward to seeing my grandkids graduate, finding that perfect mate, and mine and my husbands 57 year anniversary. Happiness comes from within, not inside a box.
🥳 I’m definitely going to use the count down from 5 rule, the wishlist, and the forgot I had this!
Your couch looks very comfy- I don’t blame you for procrastinating on it sometimes!
