    To the 2 minute rule, I've added an idea.. do what you can EVEN IF you only have 2 minutes.. I used to have this "all or nothing" mentality and it was hurting me since I have a debilitating health condition and the frustration was paralizing. So, I realized I can do things little by little.. if I only have 2 minutes, then I do what I can even if I don't finish the task (fonding laundry, washing dishes, tidying up a room.. ). The trick is to make use of every opportunity I have and to work withing my energy levels. It became almost a game I have with mself now of how much I can tackle in such little time. Eventually the amount of work left is manageable enough that I can actually take more time to finish it. Now that I took the pressure off my shoulders it seems like I accomplish so much more.

      Little and often fills the cup, I remind myself.
      I like your conclusion that eventually it gets down to a manageable job to finish.

    kids - start them early making things. I started handsewing when I was 6, I made my own dress-up clothes and it was the most empowering and creative thing . I totally believe that actually making things (not just playing with things other people have made) is the most empowering thing for children (or in fact everyone).

    As an older person, if you see a piece of clothing that you really like and it fits, buy it. Stores no longer stock large inventories like they did 10 years ago. They always churning in new items. It won’t be there next week. Buy it.

  • @cm-nj
    @cm-nj 19 дней назад +10

    I think knowing the home for items is key - one reason clutter accumulates is people don't know where things belong. I find this is true for our home. It's become a lot less messy day-to-day because everything has a clearly identified home. I do the same trick you do with food shopping and meal planning - it's been eye opening how much random food I used to purchase. I'm ashamed to admit since implementing this new system over a year ago, we are still working through our chest freezer and cupboards.
