    Thanks! I had a 2003 BMW Scarver from 2005 'till 2017 & I love every minute of it! Before I had two Suzuki LS650 (Savage) & the three of them shared, instead of a chain, a carbon/kevlar belt. The salesman of my first Savage (1988) refused to sell me a spare belt saying "If it breaks, I'll send you one free!" & he was right. None of the three belts gave any sign of wear & tear! PS: Once, the beautiful niece of a german friend saw my bike & exclaimed "Ah! The girls' bike!"... It seems that, in Germany, that model was used a lot by german frauen. I understand, with no messy chain greasing every 500 km!

    • @CompleteRider
      @CompleteRider  3 года назад +2

      Why did you sell it? I live by the rule "You buy bikes but you never sell them"
      Yes, a belt is the best of all worlds. As for the girls bike. It was a bit that way in Australia, small capacity, weird looks, weird colours and they sold so few that nobody knew what it was but a good rider could still flog it in the twisties!! I remember once at the World Superbikes at Phillip Island back in the day a German dude saw the tank bag/ back pack I had on and started chatting to me in very broken English about his Scarver back home. He was probably the only one of the 50,000 people there who knew what the hell a Scarver was!
      Thanks for the watch, Ride Safe and Subscribe! 😂

      @@CompleteRider I sold my 2003 BMW Scarver because I killed it... I used it happily for 10 years (2005-2015) in St-Barth, a small West Indian island) where I was lucky to have an excellent French mechanic who had worked in a BMW garage in France where he repaired/maintained many 650. But when I moved to Saint Martin, the island next door for a cheaper retirement, I forgot to check the oil & I burned my Rotax engine, stupid of me... I got it fixed but it was never the same & a year later I gave it away to a young friend & purchase a 2010 Yamaha 660cc MT03, a fun bike (For an old fart -75- like me) that I use every weekday to pick up my teacher-wife at the end of her day :)

    Other than 2" more suspension travel, a conventional swing arm and chain drive...the GS is the same bike, same steering geometry, ground clearance, same wheels- the lot. One the used market in California.. the same year GS sells for almost double what the CS brings. And who says the GS isn't weird looking too ? Riding position is a bit better on the CS too. Unless you really ride in the dirt half the time..why bother with GS. put some 30/70 or 50/50 tires on your cs and have at all the gravel road you want..save the money

    Bought my 2002 CS seven years ago as a spare when my Aprilia totalled its alternator in Belgium. Prior to corvid I used to go to Germany several times a year as was the token Brit in a German motorcycle group. Ok it is a quirky bike but I love it to bits! Fun to ride and does not give you a heart attack pushing it around. Fitted with Hepko and Bekker panniers and top case, has proved a brilliant tourer/ commuter. The Aprilia has long gone but the Baby Beemer lives on! If they still made it I would buy one!

    I have a beluga blue CS, 2002. Polish Dominator exhaust slip on sounds great. Decats the bike too as Cat was in the original muffler. Was the 10th owner when I bought it in 2015. I immediately rode it to Le Mans from London & had a ball.
    I’ve kept it even though I’ve got a KTM Duke 790 and a 2017 Thruxton 1200. It’s a nice big lazy 652cc single and sometimes 50hp is just what you need. Great for filtering and for riding in town. Headlight is weak. Don’t overfill with oil, and fill only when the engine is warm. Common mistake. Sips oil anyway. Great heated grips and the Rotax engine is a reliable workhorse. Great for pillion duties. No ABS on mine so have to be careful in the wet cos front can get a bit grabby. I’m emotionally attached to her tbh. Sad but true.

They adopted this one > a cup of Dexron 3 ATF into fuel tank ! Removes internal carbon ! Cleans stuck injectors ! > That bike Sat in storage in Hawaii! He put new Fuel pump ect !> injector like buh buh buh man ! Like Bill Cosby on Saturday morning s” >. The ATF fixed injector that Techron or other top fuel cleaners would not ! It looks nice n clean , I like it in that grey Man! Cheers for showing it and I hope you have many more happy years! I think when it first came out the Journos were all too intense and sceptical, it needs us to take a step back and look at the bike as a whole ,not a black whole, and those little features are there to delight the owner. I'm like it coz you can take it over rough terrain, do a jump with it and it won't snap or fall apart. These will start to be sought after very soon and the value will start to rise. Your lucky to have a beauty!✌️

    I've had one identical to yours for almost a year now. Bought it second hand so it's in nowhere as good a state as yours, but it rides very well and puts in the miles with no worries. I use it to commute to work and have been getting 52 MPG (UK) with somewhat spirited riding. I'm sure I could get over 60 with a little less throttle.

      Aren't they just the best! I commuted on mine for years and it was filthy dirty but it cleaned up really well! Testament to the quality of the finishes BMW used. Yeah it's really a nice bike. But you have to compare it to the larger versions of CS models that are super tourers. Opposed twins and all that - every bit as weird - and cheap as a penny. Not to mention they'll go like a bunny and last like a tortoise. Keep it in a nice nitrogen cylinder and should last a good long time. A hundred years easy. By then, pull it out, and ride it straight to the bank.

      I think it's because they were way ahead of their time when they came out. People either really liked them or hated them but as other bike's designers have taken elements of it for their bikes over the years, it seems a bit more normal? Well that's my thinking anyway but I do agree that more people see the beauty in it now 20 years later. Thanks for the watch and the comment.

    • @CompleteRider

      Great that you found them. Belts should go almost forever. Kevlar shouldn't break and providing the rubber still looks good, with no cracks or teeth missing or rocks stuck in it, it should be fine. I believe the recommended replacement mileage for the final drive belt is 25,000 miles (and they are not cheap). Read that the actual job of replacing it is not minor (swing arm has to come off) so it is probably something you want to do in advance (ie scheduled maintenance) rather than have to get the bike to a BMW workshop from the middle of nowhere on a Sunday afternoon.

I then laughed on the inside! I have a few of their mufflers on various bikes including my F650 GS and it sounds and looks great too. They are a bit hard to get at the moment, Staintune Pty Ltd actually closed down and couln't find a buyer. They were at the stage where they were selling off their equiptment, a company stepped up and purchsed them but due to COVID which is still Locking down our Country, they haven't done a lot of manufacturing yet. They would still have the Jigs to make this muffler but who knows when that will be. Best way to keep up to date with them is via Facebook. facebook.com/Staintune-234121006620724/

Also it will go fast but you need to roll the throttle on hard, so you know you are doing it. Try to get one with ABS if you can. ABS is the best invention on bikes since the helmet! I found one with 3k miles for 4500$ is this a good beginner bike haha

    • @CompleteRider
      @CompleteRider  2 года назад

      Wow, super low miles on it, considering mine has done about 25,000 miles! They are a great beginners bike and the reason I got one for my wife as a step up from a 250cc. They will go fast but you really need to twist the throttle to make it happen. Meaning you want to go fast you know you are doing it! But also they are a great bike for anyone, I've been riding for 30 years and training riders for 20 years and I love riding it too. I promise you will never want to sell it! Enjoy it and ride safe and subscribe! 😂

    Where can I order the Aussie Pipe ?

    • @CompleteRider
      @CompleteRider  3 года назад +1

      staintune.com.au
      The business has just been sold after it was very, very close to closing down which would have been a shame. The new owners are now setting up the production and will have all the plans and jigs to make all the old product as well as new stuff. This item would be a special orders there is very little demand for this model in Oz. They are not the cheapest exhaust on the market but they are worth every cent.
      You can also follow updates on Facebook facebook.com/Staintune-234121006620724
      p.s. If you haven't already please Subscribe, that would make me happy!😂

    Gee that aftermarket exhaust sounds better than the OEM exhaust, that made a horrible noise.

      The first time I rode it totally stock with the OEM pipe and it's belt drive, all I could hear was the induction noise! So the pipe had to go! Ride safe and Subscribe!👍

    how is it reliability wise?

    • @CompleteRider
      @CompleteRider  3 года назад +1

      Quite literally it's been perfect! I commuted for most of it's life and it was great. Never changed the belt (belts are the best thing ever!). I found they need a good battery or starting can be an issue. Only replaced the plugs, twin spark single cylinder engine, when I got it back on the road after a few years laided up. At this time I had to replace the fuel pump as I left 98 octane fuel in the tank that turned into glue! Apart from that I did the basics, oil, tyres, brake pads and fluid, light bulbs etc. I have heard that the first Gen motors can have a few issues, what they can 'hunting', but I never had a problem. With mine you just need to follow the starting procedure properly and it was fine! Thanks for watching, ride safe and if you haven't already please Subscribe to the Channel. Scarver's Rock!!

    This bike is sooooo ugly. As a product designer I hate the Nokia plastics designs from that era and this one is particularly horrible. But I am just buying one... My girlfriend is making her license and she is small so this bike with ABS, the low seat height and easy handling will be perfect. And I get it cheap as hell in great condition. We think about calling it 'the ugly duckling'. 1 min later: Ahaha you just called it the same!

      Woaa, that dashboard, that's not just ugly. With those proportions and the weired shaped holes, the LCD that is unreadyble in sunlight, it is just really bad Design (I think you use the german term Gestaltung) My teachers back at Art school would have kicked me out!

    I'm an almost 80-year-old Canadian who hasn't had a bike for about 40 years but just came across one of these, a 2002, for $3,500 Canadian with only 22,000 clicks on it. Sure is tempting but my better half would probably kill me.

    This bike wasn't designed to mimic apple computers, it's just that this design language was popular in the 2000's
