I remember this coming out, only five years after release and they blew us away with the graphics. Gameplay was so much better and we all loved Matrix, Blade, and Underworld so the new action scenes were epic. I feel they still hold up. After this game, Snake Eater felt so slow. I still have this game on gamecube too
Great plot twist EVER in any video game. MGS 1 was my most memorable game for me growing up right next to FFVII. I swear they don't make games like this anymore. MGS 1 will always hold a significant memory in my experience of being a gamer.
Everyone complaining about how the original is better than this... Be glad that you aren't from a german speaking country and got to play the horrible dubbed version we got on the PS1. You wouldn't believe how I was into MGS2 and then Twin Snakes just because it felt like such an improvement with the voice acting.

Before capturing this game, I looked into it. The reason they haven't is because it was originally on Playstation 1 and they would have tostart from scratch. This release was by Silicone Knights, so Hideo Kojima said it's not canon. It would cost way too much to start over. most HD remakes are just graphics updates, not so much physics updates.
I don't know much about the "Twin Snakes is Raiden doing a VR simulation of Shadow Moses" but here's how I look to look at it. You know during The Big Shell incident that Solid Snake and Otacon was an unexpected factor in the S3 Plan. Well, I'd like to think of Ocelot being in a similar position in the theory itself. Prior to the Big Shell Incident, Raiden also did a simulation of the Tanker Incident. What if Ocelot might have had a hand in the making of the two simulations while he was working with the Patriots? If there was anyone else who knew more about Shadow Moses it had to be him.
Rose-shrouded Confessor raiden isn't in this one they copy how it is and recreate it for the big shell incident but solid snake and otacon aren't in those variables.

Often times we try to keep the video under a certain time limit. Some scenes often get cut because of that. That particular scene you are referring to had very little relevance to the main story arc. We try to use our best judgement when we choose specific scenes/missions to cut. Unfortunately we know we can't please everyone with our decisions, but we do the best we can. I am happy you were enjoying it at least.
Late reply is late, but still made me laugh. Every time I mention to my wife that I'm going to watch some game movie, she always has to snicker because of how it sounds. And yeah, playing is always better, but in my late adult years, I can't afford the luxury of time to sit for days on end for every single game. Besides, some of what Gamematics edits into a movie from games is far better than what Hollywood can produce.

I can only assume that if combat abilities were actually genetic, then they are recessive genes otherwise more people would be capable fighters if they were dominant, and I imagine Kojima wanted the main character to look have Big Boss' likeness.
+mattdobz He doesn't. Dominant doesn't mean better, that's the same mistake Liquid made. Dominant simply refers to an allele (half a gene) that is expressed "over" a recessive allele. Liquid has the recessive alleles AND the "superior" ones. Of course, in the end it counted for shit.
Seems they changed the line ''Its not over yet snake!'' which was def one of my fav lines from liquid at the end. Still a great and underrated game many don't know about.
When Ocelot says "Now we'll see if the man can live up to the legend"... What if he's talking about Solid Snake living up to the legend of Big Boss? I mean Ocelot HAS a past with Big Boss. In the new MGS5 trailer, Ocelot seems to appear alongside Big Boss.
The original game really played down the plot point that Snake is Neo from the matrix. Glad they fixed that in this version. My man backflipped onto a missile, jumped off it into the air and shot down the Hind with a rocket launcher 50 feet in the air
You know what, for all the bashing of the Matrix kung-fu action in the remade cutscenes I hear about, I will totally accept the Matrix barrel roll during the jeep chase as something that was done better than the original, purely based on Snakes "I've-had-e-fucking-nough-of-your-shit!" face at 3:24:01

Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2 (the originals) are on the HD remake of MGS3 for free, and free to play as well, they also freely save on their own so you can play them in a good quality off your HDTV without going all out and buy those Japanese PCs that the games came out from, and fully and properly translated

Wow, I totally did that different with the PAL key. To freeze it, I went back to the room where I fought Raven, and then back. And to heat it I went to the room with the lava or whatever it was.
I hope they remake MGS1. Few people actually own a GameCube and MGS1 (the original) just isn't up to date anymore. Well, the original two NES Metal Gear titles would be way more interesting if I think about it. Imagine them being made into a PS3 or PS4 title. That would blow my mind if Kojima did that after MGS5.

Updated graphics and cutscenes action are good, but the voice acting sucks. The emotion is gone. Not as Solid as the first one.
