    This solution has worked for me almost 10 times till now.
    This problem is happening for me when i was connecting my charger to the laptop when it is powering on.
    So don’t connect your charger when it is powering on wait for it to start and then connect it.
    Solution :
    I connected my Dell to external display. Selected my (C)SSD drive in advanced options when the blue options menu popped up. It came back to life after restart. Good Luck Guys.

    I have the exact same problem.....If you need to access your computer, you can always to do with an external monitor. The computer will regognize an external monitor as it's primary monitor. While this is rather inconvenient, it may allow you to backup your files Note that you will need a USB-C adapter to HDMI/VGA adapter.
    Note that I was also able to boot in safe mode as the display drivers are not loaded and generic drivers are used.
    For me it started doing this after a Dell update / Windows update.
    I have tried a Live Ubuntu USB Bootable Drive and the screen works perfectly fine under Ubuntu.
    I have also tried re-installing windows and no luck, even in the reinstall process the screen goes black which makes me think it's a driver issue or maybe bad screen connection or something.
    I'm awaiting to see what Dell Customer Support will say on that, will keep you guys updated...

      Maxime Perron Caissy did you get any update?

      Dell wants me to send it back and pay for the repair, which I'm about to do. They say it's hardware... one guy says it's the LCD screen, and spoke to another guy who said it was the motherboard. The funny thing, the screen works very well under safe mode which uses basic Microsoft Driver. Also Ubuntu works like a charm. Really seems like they messed up their driver especially that this happened after windows update/BIOS update. I'm thinking it may also have to do with Intel's flaw in their chips. I have asked Dell to cover the repair since I've only had the laptop for 15 month. If they don't pay I will sue them as i've seen similar cases and they were won at the small court.

      Maxime Perron Caissy I contacted dell support and they asked me to run a diagnostic test (F12) and it gave back results saying there is no hardware issues. They said they will have to reinstall windows but will charge me for it. Gonna have to find a way around this.

      scoopwarr, I have tried re-installing windows and it doesn't work, you won't even be able to re-install windows as once you enter the re-installation of windows, the screen goes black, I have tried. At this point I recommend you to make a good backup of your system which I have done a full backup of my C: drive.

      By the way, my computer shows no signs or hardware problems either, I have run that same test and hardware is perfectly fine according to diagnostic

    There is an issue with the driver. I had this problem. Luckly I was able to remote into the computer. I uninstalled the device and the driver. Then it started working fine with the generic Windows driver. I went to the dell site to install a new driver and the problem came back. So I'm now running the computer off the Windows Generic Driver. Its working. Not great but working. They need to fix the driver so we can update and not use the generic windows driver.

      Any update? Are you still using it ?

      Same issue reinstalled windows, made a restore point then updated the driver. Screen went black straight away. Went into advanced startup options used the system restore point to undo the changes and it started working again. Also Windows update will download the driver itself so you have to block the update from installing or the problem will come back

    Try disabling your Intel graphics card in device manager. On mine it is "Intel HD Graphics 530".

      I feel you. It happened to me out of the blue for no reason just went to start my computer as usual and then nothing... no screen. Been using ubuntu since then. Not ideal for a college kid in engineering. It was my first and last dell. At one of my intership we had dell latitude super rugged laptops but the would always blue screen... super productive. Dell has a lot of unresolved software issues they need to address. Breaking 2000$+ laptops with bad software is just plain unacceptable.

      My xps13 9350's blank screen seems to be heat related, it crashes constantly in warm weather and never had any problem when the temperature is below 20 C. I guess it is a overheating of some of the internal components but not sure which part it is. Might open it up to see which part overheats using a heat camera

      The easy way out to get out of the black screen is:
      If you able to get XPS 13 machine hook-up onto an external monitor, then,
      1. Go to Device Manager or Control Panel
      2. Under Display Adapter - Right Click and hit Disable Device
      3. Hit Restart
      4. You can see your XPS screen again. Good Lucks

    I have exactly the same issue. Did you ever find a resolution for this?

    • @sprucemaroose
      @sprucemaroose 7 лет назад

      Me too! No resolution offered by Dell... Seems a lot of people are having it. Did yours occur shortly after a driver update?

    • @BrianChandler1
      @BrianChandler1 7 лет назад

      It occurred early in December - sometime around the BIOS critical update, the last Windows update, and some Dell driver updates. Can you point me to some message boards of other people having this problem? I'd be curious to hear what others are saying.

      Various different issues but all black screen related:

      www.reddit.com/r/Dell/comments/4a5h0k/xps_13_9350_trying_to_update_drivers_makes_win10/
      Quite a few videos on RUclips showing the same thing. I'm in contact with Dell support but they're just going through the motions - have you tried a system restore? Etc. I've even had to download the ISO from Dell and repair from a USB but the issue still persists. Annoying!
