Indeed, learning the melody with just the right hand tends to be more manageable. I’ve taken this song from my guitar tablature book, and translated the notes to the piano. Given my current skill level, intricate pieces are beyond my reach, so I stick to straightforward tunes from the ‘Super Easy Song Book. of course I like to fiddle around with scales & such, but don't think i fully understand the piano
Jennifer - Thank you for posting this lesson - I used to be in the music business, but I'm in my middle eighties now, and due to some nerve damage, I can't play very well anymore. But thanks to your tutorial, I'll be able to learn this sequence..!
Hi Jennifer, you are by far the best piano teacher of the whole web. Perhaps sometime in future you will give a concert here in germany? I play the piano just as my hobby in my free time and i really love your videos.
ok i have to inquire; when does one get the habit to play with the right hand? so freakin hard to do this especially since the left hand still hits the wrong key if i don't stare at them
Great question! Time is definitely key - creating any good habit will take time. If you're asking about playing hands together, I would say splitting a phrase up into smaller pieces can help - even if that's just a half a measure for example, or one beat. Also if you can try to practice LH without looking - even closing your eyes to try to just feel the organization of the keys that can really be helpful (tricky, but helpful!) So once you play with your eyes open you'll be able to see LH peripherally while still focusing your eyes on your RH. Not sure if I answered your question -does that help?
Jennifer - I wonder if you could help me out -- I'd like to know the name of the song that AGT plays right after Richard finishes singing - really like that piano intro --
@@JNCPiano Thank you, Jennifer - I appreciate it. I don't sight-read very well, so a visual tutorial is right up my alley. By the way, here's a recording I did in 1961 (age 21) -- ruclips.net/video/MrDUScOgiVM/видео.html.

Wish I had the time to learn to play again the keyboards or piano. Haven’t played since about age 10.
It's so hard to keep up practicing! One of my teachers used to say that consistency is key - even if just 5 minutes a day 🙂
Omg...I'm in love.

Thanks for writing! It’s a song by Billy Joel called “Turn the lights back on” ! Maybe I’ll have to do a piano tutorial on that next! 😀
