I’ve seen James a few times. The first time I saw them was before they even brought out sit down. The second time I saw them was just after ‘sit down’ had been a hit and they were much more polished. I’ve always loved James. My brother and I used to listen to James together quite a lot when we were having a party or just sitting smoking cannabis. My brother died in 2004 at the age of 26, one day before his 27th birthday. So now many of James early songs are poignant and even sad when I listen to them now. This acoustic version of she’s a star is extraordinary, it’s beautiful. James are as relevant and exquisite as they’ve ever been in my life. I’m looking forward to seeing them live again, it’s been a while.
Thank you for recording and giving us this compellingly beautiful and haunting piece of music. I feel sorry for millennials, they missed out on some of the best music the U.K. ever created. The smart ones have caught on and are listening to James, The Bluetones etc.
