    One other thing to check/maintain if you live in a climate with any salt in the winter, is the plastic flaps which cover a hole immediately in front of the rear wheels. Lie on the ground, remove one bolt (I think it's 10 mm) and the plastic cover comes off. Remove the dirt built up in there, which plugs up a hole draining a cavity in the body. Otherwise salt and moisture accumulates and starts rust from the inside. On a car you're buying, check this area.

    I've had my 2010 SE for almost 13 years and it's still going strong. Swapped the entire sunroof out for $80 from the junkyard and a new valve cover gasket was like $35. I have a 2011 V6 Fusion, almost at 151,000 miles. I have had the blower resistor/module replaced 3 or 4 times in the past 4 years. The last was the day before Thanksgiving this year. I noticed my steering was a litle tight suddenly for just a second when going around a curve. Yesterday when driving, I noticed my a "squeeky" noise in my steering column. This morning when I started my car the Power Steering Assist Failure came on. These two issues are the only things that I had with my car so far. My husband regularly changes the oil and takes care of minor/routine maintenance. It is nice to read where some people have 300,000 or more on their Fusions. Becky G.

      There is a Ford recall on the Power steering system om the 2011-2013 or something like that. Even though the 2009-2010 have the same one they aren't included. But Ford fixed mine after getting a letter from my attorney.

    I bought my 2011 2.5l SE a few months ago with 203k miles, rebuilt title for 2 bands. Had absolutely zero issues with it, only had to do wear and tear maintenance (brakes, serpentine belt, valve cover gaskets, spark plugs, engine mounts, pulleys) so far the least problematic car I’ve owned, super comfortable, and reliable. I bought it as a daily beater after owning several Acura vehicles. The only complaint I have about the fusion is with it being a 4 cylinder I expected better fuel range. I get about the same as my 2008 Acura TL-S which has a 3.5L V6, which is pretty disappointing. I just did my last fill-up with 93 octane instead of 87, so let’s see if that makes a difference.

    I have a 2010 Fusion SEL with just under 210K miles. Whoever owned her took off ALL the exhaust and took off the original air intake hose!!!! Had to replace both items. When car was up on the rack I noticed ZERO RUST on the frame!!!!! and other underside parts. This car spent it's entire life in RustBelt Ohio, too. I understand the cars made in Mexico prior to the year change to 2011 were made with a different process...and this car is living proof of that (mine says 7/2010 on the door frame ticket). Tinted windows all around and funky wrapped rims and side mirrors makes it a unique car for me to drive. When I got her you could hear her at least a mile away she was THAT LOUD!!!! Now she is so quiet it's a different car. I love the way she glides up and down the hills here in NE Ohio like they are nothing..... I had to replace both 02 sensors as well as the battery harness as someone had revised battery conections to accommodate their sound system and had to take out at least a mile of speaker wire!!! New plugs and coil packs made a big difference, too. Now I get great gas mileage!!!! Just replaced the starter, too. Small stupid stuff but she's worth it.... The Goodyear Assurance tires work very well on this car, too and make handling much tighter overall....

    I have a 2011 Fusion with nearly 180K miles. Driver door handle broke; easily replaced. Driver-side seat heating element went out. Power steering sometimes goes out when backing up, need to restart engine in that case. Transmission fluid needs to be changed much sooner than the 150K listed in the maintenance schedule. I'd recommend before 100K for the first change, and then every 25-30K miles after that. Other than that, my vehicle has been reliable, and I love my premium sound system. I really hate how the latches for the sun visors point towards the front of the vehicle, rather than the rear like most cars have them. Awful resale value, but that's a good thing for the used car buyer.

It was the Throttle Body and had to be replaced. It also skips/jerks sometimes when I drive. He is correct about the lug nuts needing to be changed. That dang compartment on the top...phew the hinge on the right side broke and it IS very flimsy! Be careful not to crack the rim when you drive because you will keep loosing pressure in the tires and will have to keep putting air in them. The tire and rim is EXPENSIVE!!! About $250.00 new and I wasn't able to find a used on in my town. Replacement black rim was about $100.00 at Discount Tire. Also, issue with bad wheel bearings...low/deep sounding whomp whomp sound. Tail light lamp assemblies - specifically melted plastic housing, cracked bakelite bezels, and rusty mounting surfaces. I replaced both modules when I found my lamps had burned out and melted their housings. It might have been from water getting in to the cracked bezels, I'll never know for sure... but the new assemblies don't stay in too well, because the surfaces they screw into seem to be too corroded to hold fast. I will have to look at it more closely; meanwhile it's gorilla tape keeping them semi-flush with the exterior surface.

    I got a 2010 Fusion Hybrid fully loaded a little over a year ago. Super low miles when I got it at 54,000 and I’ve put about 20k on it since then. It’s been a fantastic car for me this far. Only 3 issues.
    1. My sun roof came off the tracks as well.
    2. Throttle body had to be replaced.
    3. There’s a annoying sound that the AC compressor makes.
    From what I understand all 3 are common. My research says AC noise is usually a little piece in the housing that needs to be filed down. Some sort of manufacture defect with the way the housing was molded. Easy fix, but I haven’t done it yet.

    I have a 2010 Fusion with the 3.0L with 105k mi. Under warranty replaced the rear main seal and valve cover gaskets twice for an oil leak. It still leaks a little bit of oil, not sure where it's coming from. After warranty I replaced a leaking AC line, engine mount, CV shaft and the backup alert speaker (did this all myself, it isn't too bad). For maintenance, I do an oil change every ~ 7k miles, ATF drain and fill every 30k miles, coolant flush every 5 yrs, replaced the drive belt once (broke while driving, still made it home), and replaced the spark plugs at ~ 95 kmi (and PCV valve while I was in there). It's been quite reliable since those early issues, can't think of any needed repairs in the last 5 or 6 yrs. Water pump is external and easy to get to if it goes out.

    The number one problem with the 10-12 Fusions are the steering rack. 2.5 engines also have a plastic thermostat housing. As for the 3.0 V6, they have oil pan gaskets leaking and camshaft seal leaks that requires a new water pump. Stay away from the 3.5 V6 cars because of coolant leaking in the engine due to poorly designed water pump.

    Transmission fluid in these Fords (Mercon LV) should be changed every 30k miles as the fluid breaks down. Should be changed with a pan drop, not a flush.

      What if it has 90k miles on it? Is it still safe to drain it?

    • @Snake-ms7sj
      @Snake-ms7sj 3 года назад

      @@undoctrinati0n Don't see why not. The reason a flush is not recommended is that it will stir up any sediment and distribute it back through the transmission. A pan drop won't and you will also be able to clean any sediment off the bottom of the pan. The 6F35 transmission used on the Fusion and Escape doesn't have a removable filter. It has a built in filter and if that gets clogged, the transmission has to be removed and split apart to get to the filter. Here is a good site where he shows the procedure. If you have questions, he is the guy to ask. This is the procedure for the 2013-up. Not sure how the procedure differs for the 2009-2012. ruclips.net/video/rvljKBa9rIs/видео.html

    • @Snake-ms7sj
      @Snake-ms7sj 3 года назад +2

      @@undoctrinati0n It is recommended by most mechanics to change the Mercon LV every 30k miles as it starts breaking down.. I think the manual says you can go 60K, but I never follow the manuals on everything. For example that "5 year coolant" No way. I flush my cooling system every 2 years. If there is any damage/wear from broken down fluid, adding new fluid isn't going to hurt anything surely. Might make it shift better as the fluid won't be worn out. Hate how they don't have dipsticks on cars anymore. Used to be nice to be able to pull the dipstick and examine the fluid and check the level.

I have a 2011 I got with 60k miles and beat the shit outta it every day has about 93k on it now. Personally I’m changing it around 100k only downfall is changing it the 3.5 is shoe horned into the fusion and you damn near have to pull the engine to change it. I have a 2011 Ford Fusion SE with 191,678 miles and I have had it for 5 months and put 5,000 miles on it since I bought it and it’s been fine for me, the only thing I’ve had replaced was my thermostat was stuck closed and was making my car overheat, so I got it changed for $40 bucks and it’s been fine, also had the oil changed too, the only problem with mine is I noticed it’s starting to lose power from when I got it when you push the gas pedal, also when it’s in drive with your foot on the brake the engine shakes and you can feel it through the whole car, but if you put it in park or neutral the engine shaking goes away

      I would not recommend anyone purchasing a 2010-2012 fusion. Since I bought my 2011 in Oct '19 I've gone thru 3 ps racks. Such a horrible design by Ford. Should've researched better before dropping 5k on one.

    The salesman retired.. my company had two of these one with 131,000 mi that's probably going to retail for like over $4,500 to $5,5 the The one I picked up260tho miles. Needed a rack has been sitting for about 6 months or so a 2012 fusion SE with sunroof I picked it up under $500 because of the rack issue... the dealer is going to charge a little over $2,000 to do that work .I was able to pick up a rack for less than $300( supposedly only $64,000 mi ) ha,🤔 thanks to my friend at the local Pick-n-Pull My mechanic a very good friend.. did the installation and programming workfor about the same price as part.. so for under let's say $900 I'm in this car with 260,000 miles If I decide to sell it ,I don't think I could get much for it because of the mileage ..or then maybe again I can get $2500 ,, or maybe then again it is super clean.. Maybe I'll keep it Uber with it not sure yet what to do.

    If you don’t mind my dude… allow me a few additional details for everyone here…
    1. If you’re above 5 11? You will not fit comfortably. (I’m 6 2 and my head touches the roof so I’m constantly adjusting myself mid drive)
    2. The 2.5L has ZERO balls and sounds like a pissed off bee hive rather than a decent ICE brought to you by the Ford Motor Co
    3. If you have fog lights swap them to LED at your own risk. The bulbous covers do not like LED unless you find the right set. It took 4 attempts for me to finally find the right set.
    4. The anniversary Mustang rims from 2009 DO FIT so get you a set of 215/60/R16’s and a set of rims if you’re interested
    5 (last one) buy back up parts. There’s so many of these out there that I literally have extra parts in case I might need em. I just picked up an exhaust system replacement and it was worth the $80 I paid to have the split pipes.

    What about the CV axles on these? I have one that has 191,000 mi I've not had it too terribly long and it clicks when I back up or make sharp turns and when I start to go forward it'll do it but it stops once I get going the car drives fine it don't bind up o.r anything. It sounds like it may have an exhaust leak because sometimes the exhaust will sound louder than it normally does but also I seen something about the motor mounts being a common issue.

    I noticed you mention something about the electronic power steering at 1.20sec, I own a ford fusion hybrid 2010 and right now I'm at the fifth power steering, I bought the car in 2014 with 124,000Km so that was the first but then at 130,000km it broke so I had to buy a new one at 2500$ cad but then 100km later it broke again so they replace it for a 3rd one a zero cost, but then in 2017 around 205,000km it broke again so I had to replace it for a 4th one at 1650$ cad, for some reason I had a better price a different ford dealer, but then once more, 100km later it broke again, so they replace it at zero cost for a fifth power steering, I still have it and the car is now 285,000 km. I wonder it they really need to replaced the power steering each time or just fixing a minor problem would have done ...I mean only the power steering it self costed me more than 4k cad.

    I just got a SE 2010 model, and from first to second gear it shifts kinda hard, mainly when you step on the gas. Also there is a sort of roar coming from the passenger side inside the engine bay. You can't hear it outside the video though. Any idea what the problem might be? Is the hard shift normal when stepping on the gas? I drive like a grandpa, but when I need to make a quick turn lane jump I step on it and that's when I notice the hard shift.

      Transmissions go bad on these cars sometimes but what you might want to check is your fluid level, there’s a trans dipstick towards the back of the engine bay and you can add some fluid if it needs it. As for your engine noise it sounds like you have an exhaust leak, mine just started doing that, sounds like it’s coming from the right side but in my case I found it leaking from the muffler. I will either be repairing or replacing mine at some point.

    • @theowlsofouterheaven
      @theowlsofouterheaven 3 года назад

      @@cookierepairprojects4544 thank you for your reply! I checked the fluid and it's a brown color... which from my research is not at all good and should be changed. I'm worried the transmission is "too gone" to change since some say not to change old old fluids. Should I go ahead and try having it flushed and new added? It doesn't smell burnt either, more like a pair of new shoes... Odd scent to describe with.

    The 2016 Fusion SE 2.0l turbo is by far the worst. unless you like paying mechanics and being without a car for a month every year. no joke.
    mines had 2 engine replacements because cylinder #3 cracks every time. the transmission went out on it because the forward piston blew. computer kept saying it was solenoid A was stuck.
    unless i swap out the whole power-train im expecting to have more issues down the road. the body is mint because its always in the shop.
    i was interested in seeing what problems plagued the 10-12 years.
