These are great! There’s a moment in ‘Israel’ off Birth of the Cool where a B/G resolves to a Bb/C - an upper structure triad part of a larger Cm11 voicing. So tasty!
Hello 8bitMusicTheory, your channel is great! Thanks for stopping by. Back in the day I emailed Bobby Prince who composed the music for 'Doom' to ask him some questions. And he actually replied! Good times.
@@gilevansinsideout I would say VII/V, as it has voice-leading qualities as a dominant chord, but in itself has two major third relationships which indicates bitonality.
Wes loved DbM7 or DbM9 to CM7 and it would sound over the unaware bassist or organist's G in the bass ... hip... The Cdim/G is maybe one of the 'mystery' chords (Gmb6sus..?) that Miles uses in the Gm -section of his 'Dick Cavett show' live version of 'Perfect Way' one of the greatest jazz performances of all time for me... I'm going to practice the augM7 (B/G) sound... thanks and thanks for hipping with me over 'Counterblock'
@@gilevansinsideout People may scoff at my superlative but just dig Miles' arrangement... F to F# to G shifting tonalities with the sections, and an encyclopaedic documenting of syncopation in the blues scale he ornaments every inflection of the F#13 line 'I've got, a perfect way'... like a voice... and Bob Berg is so handsome and brooding with his heaviliy arranged supporting lines and stabs... Jazz for a new age live on a TV show wow.. finally a word for the guitarist i forgot the name of who moves like the most awkward honky but who has the slickest blues counterlines on a burning super-strat...

Now I want to know what a Gil Evans vgm soundtrack would sound like

Splendid!
Thanks, give them a try
Great suggestions for adding spice. Thank you, Alex.
Thanks 😊
Great job!
Thanks Fredrick! What one is your favourite?

Oh nice. Yes its a tasty one.
Love your videos! Could you do another video on reharmonization beyond the tritone substitution?
Sure 😀

We won't scoff! :D You enjoy the music you want to enjoy.
I like g7b13 to Aadd9|Cmajor polychord
Nice! Thanks Dallas. I'll try that one out.
I remember discovering the bII/V back in college while analyzing my ship. It was a major lightbulb moment for me 🫨
Yeah its a great one aye?! Gil uses it quite a bit.
