Yes, Shildon and Ferryhill are roughly on a par with each other, with Shildon having a slight edge. House prices are very equal, I bought two houses (at different times) in Shildon for £33k and £34k, and a house in Ferryhill for £36k. A house very near to that house was on market for £65k, but has not sold and now gone to auction at £45k. There is in fact a smarter area in Ferryhill which you missed completely, which has houses and bungalows at around the £150k mark. There are very few at that price in Shildon. You picked a bad time to walk the high street, as most of the shops are still open in Ferryhill, but the Friday Market died a death years ago (Council asking too much rent for a stall). The road leading down to Kirk Merrington - called Dean Bank locally, but is in fact Merrington Road, is the worst part of Ferryhill and houses usually go for less than £15 at auction. I think that Shildon and Ferryhill should both be completely demolished and re-built, as there is absolutely no work and houses are slums at 150plus years old, and not looked after, since, as you say, there's no money there. Shame 😢 but I daresay a lot of people would disagree with me on that
thank you so much for your comments was very helpful for me.can i have ask you what's is your opinion about buy the house in Coundon Bishop Auckland. there is good to live?now i live in Bristol very expensive house i canot buy here. thanks a lot
@@amico1357 Coundon is also a 'cheaper' and not so good area ... houses (2 bed miners cottages, terraced) go for around £45k up to about £80k, but depends heavily on area position and the internal condition. If the bath and kitchen need re-doing then they are at the lower price. You REALLY need to be here and take a good look around to get a feel for these places before making any life-changing decisions.
One wonders why ? Left to rot instead of demolition and rebuild new modern housees in stead of building on green land 😢 it s dont make sense same all over the uk
Ferryhill. One of those places where a dog might step in a human turd😂 I'm sayung this...I've lived there most of my life. Like all places...good and bad. Interestingly my sin came home from living in Luton for a few months. He said by comparison Ferryhill is fab. Now I will address one dreadful error in your video. You missed out Cleves Cross! Had you gone there, you would have seen where the name Ferryhill came from. (Allegedly)
I live in chilton lane not really dangerous its just a pure dump back in 1951 dcc rated it a category d village meaning it would be left to rot as unsuitable for human habbitation the village centers ok sort of overall empty houses and businesses that are smashed to bits no supermarkets very poor transport links buses are useless no train station despite being right on east coast mainline
@NorthernExposure1 Dont know if they still use it , but theres not much you can do with the place a lot of houses should have been demolished back then
the village is being overloaded with new arrivals from all over the country because of cheap rental and 95% of them dont work and add absolutely nothing to the economy , and dont get me on about the amount of SMACK RATS there is loitering about all day , you cant get a doctors appointment because they are too busy writing Methodone prescriptions . in 10 years time Ferryhill will be like Horden and a 2 bed terrace on Dean Bank will cost 5K.
Felt review a bit low whilst a long way from perfect I,ve never found a place that was. Including some of the more affluent parts of the uk, bricks and mortar is bricks and mortar transport links apper very good
It was a bit low to be fair, and on reflection I might have given it more, also, didn’t see everything and could only go on what I saw. Happy to return
If u are going to do a review on ferryhill its only fair you go to all parts .not just the worst areas which you have done the back streets of deanbank as I see you only choose to film the worst streets the station .every town or village have good parts and bad show both and all areas instead of putting ferryhill down . As ther is alot of hard working and decent people in ferryhill village . Regardless of which area they live in .I personally think your opinion of ferryhill is unfair as I believe you have just gone straight to the worst areas of ferryhill .
To be fair I don’t know the area so I headed to the town area. I appreciate there are probably better parts of Ferryhill. Maybe I’ll pop back at some point Thanks ☺️ for watching

I’m in the Dean Bank part of Ferryhill. It’s actually very quiet and it feels a damn site safer than where I come from in Kent
Amazed to see so much sunshine.😂
