Half decent place these days, the transformation/regeneration from what it used to be like is mind blowing. Used to be very industrial up until the mid 90s, dark and dirty, the almost classic industrial town, with railways, mines, docks and warehouses dominating the seafront areas.
I've just come across this video and had to watch it as I live locally to Seaham. I usually watch your Skeggy/Mablethorpe content. I had to smile when you said the sea was rough, it gets a lot more violent than that with waves so big they engulf the lighthouse. As you found, the marina and the area around the green where Tommy and the Cenotaph are the best areas to visit. If you are ever back this way, I do suggest a visit to Durham or Beamish Museum if you've not been before. Best wishes, Out and About with Andy.
Hi my mum god bless came from here, ive been there once or twice and whitley bay 1983 on a school trip it was very interesting thanks neal hope you enjoy.
@@neilrgreatestadventures hi she was lovely. When i went whitley bay i found it really good, im going skegness next year again mum loved the place as well, she moved to leicester when she was 18, and loved skeg the first time she went we had a van at ingoldmells thanks mate.
Well your video has certainly shocked me I used to go there in the late 60's as a nipper and it was always known as a right dump the transformation to how I remember it is amazing. I seem to remember that coal was mined from under the sea and you could even find coal on the shore. There was a lot of glass on the beach back then as well and now you have solved the mystery of how it got there great video keep em coming.
@@neilrgreatestadventures it will be better for us because it’s a lot closer than having to drive into town😊 are u already for Christmas 🎄 me & my daughter are going back to Florida Disney in 2 weeks, only booked it other night, just staying for a week so excited 😊
Proud to say that I live in Seaham and wouldn’t want to live anywhere else.
Check out the yearly Food Festival and Carnival which are fantastic 👍
