I'm happy to see the side by side. I saw that middle version and was repelled; it felt like the car company was pandering to what was already on the road and abandoning its iconic shape. So, seeing that the 2025 model year does have the older styling makes me interested in this model year. So a potential sale.
Why Mini would axe the manual transmission when 22% of 2023 Cooper S owners optioned their Mini with a manual is beyond me. Genuinely hope that they pull something similar to what Toyota did w/ the Supra and that they reintroduce the option for a manual in later model years.
I have loved minis since I was a child… and I LOVED the mini culture and what it stood for. Character… freedom… rawness…. Individuality… it’s all down the tubes with mini. No wonder the enthusiasts have moved on to other brands. Mini did it to their selves. After seeing these models, I honestly won’t be surprised to see them going bankrupt in a few years. How are you going to make a mini with no manual??? The interior looks soooo cheap and sooo Japanese. You can’t expect people to pay German prices with Japanese style. That’s just not how that works. I’ll just keep my manual r57 and keep the road hot. Terribly disappointed that they’re all going electric too… yhe days of mini being an outstanding staple on the road, are sadly over. I don’t know if they’ll ever recover.
It’s made by a huge corporation. Despite the fact that I, as an autistic kid, was (still am!) utterly obsessed with the Mini story, I utterly detest the idea of such a company not just existing but stamping out a ton of metal with a ‘cute’ face to give it ‘personality’. Reject mental corporate domination!
It looks 'interesting', but I still prefer my 2023 JCW Rebel Green/Chesterfield Malt interior convertible. Nothing beats the my Union Jack tail lights.
when i first saw the j01 online, i liked the rear than the front same goes with f66, i must odd one out of preferring the back before both front styling :) cant wait to see them in the metal as soon as they are around to view.
A real shame the Clubman’s been dropped - was the most practical version and looked nice - unlike the new Countryman which is the only option for dog owners and the 5 door mini just looks awkward
Been driving Mini ever since the relaunch, even though they moved the brand further and further away from its core and closer to BMW-of-five-years-ago. First nail in the coffin is to take the Clubman off the market, which is/was a unique and great car, versatile, understated, useful and still mostly (even in its current bloated version) retaining a bit of the Mini driving fun. But the F66 is basically a cheap Chinese car, look/feel of a Hyundai or Suzuki. This minimalist approach would be fine, if it were realized with premium materials (à la Tesla) and the high level of individualization that made Mini such a success in the first place - but fron the door handle to the steering wheel which looks like hyperchep plastic to the absurd automatic middle console, this feels like an April’s fool joke. And it is not a Mini ONE, it is Cooper S, THIS is the high-end version. There are some ideas here that could have been great with the right detailing and care, but done as it is, this feels like a Dacia or some other car in the 10-20K range. I sure hope that Chinese sales will make up for the loss of revenue in Europe.
I have a f54 301 hp and no way these are better. Too simplistic, too sparse too feminine and if they’re not careful could turn into a female brand which will kill it altogether down the road….
Worth pointing out, real leather is consistently more durable than faux leather. Guy on RUclips cuts up shoes to prove this time and time again. Go watch him if you don’t believe me. It’s also a myth to say real leather isn’t sustainable. Car reviewers repeat this marketing slogan ad nauseam, while understanding nothing of holistic land management. Saying a word doesn’t make make a truth. Real leather literally grows and can easily be farmed regeneratively, improving soil as it rotates the pastures in a planned holistic fashion. Improved soil positively affects everything locally, from cleaning rivers, to increased biodiversity, to enhanced water sequestration and run-off protection, which guards against droughts when they come, helping to replenish aquifers, and improving human health via healthy food and environment. Nature doesn’t make mistakes. Farm regeneratively with nature and nature pays it back in rewards.
For years I've been waiting (along with mini enthusiasts), eager and excited to finally see this new model...and now we get THIS? Almost everything with this model is dissapointing to say the least, but the rear and tail? it's just really ugly, beyond bad. Is mini trying to go bankrupt on purpose?
The entire BMW lineup and now MINI too look cheap and ugly, ever since the current Gen 4 Series. I’ve been saying this that the only fix to this problem is to fire the entire current visual design team at BMW.
Rubbish, had a good look around the new JCW countryman including a test drive today, lovely car to drive (not exactly mini I’ll admit) and definitely easier on the eye than some of the BMW offerings at the same dealership- iX🤮Highly likely this mini (a petrol version) will be our next car.
Awful looks, disgusting "minimalist" interior with cheap materials and total lack of finesse... Mini, WHAT HAVE YOU DONE?!? Next step: a Mini (eletric, of course) Countrybus.
Apart from all he has said is wrong. Synthetic leather is better than a real one ? Really? Cheap cloth on the dashboard. Big owal screen which is distracting and useless when driving. Only limited info on the head up display. Plus disputable design. How much did they pay him for that?
The rear looks like a FIAT! My guess? Mini as a brand will be gone by next generation. The real "Mini" in recent years, following Issigonis' ethos? The Suzuki Swift. But even they're £18k for latest base model now. The Great Reset - "You'll own nothing [be in debt] and be happy". I've friends who run minis, we run Suzuki's, I could be tempted with a 2020-2023 model mini, but not the 2025 variant, they've lost the plot, it's a wannabe car, it's fake, sorry, "faux"! And with certain cars at £40k (GBP)? During the worst cost of living crisis - because of faux Carbon Climate Change BS too - ludicrous!
Milk floats … never mind how it drives just look at the screen and be happy, just another soulless virtue signalling car that will make you feel dead inside.
Reskinned petrol Cooper S to look like an EV. By removing all air-vents arches and spoilers it’s just gender confused, neither one not the other, it’s horrible weak looking car…
They've butchered the front end rear, it looks so aggressive! The original & 2001 model kept the nice cutesy face and chrome now just looks fuck!ng disgusting.
I think it looks cheaper than the old one
No manual transmission and a rear light treatment is terrible.
Still completely heartbroken that the F66 is NOT available with a manual transmission.
it looks pretty cheap inside and the screen as a stand alone doesnt save it. Current model is way more premium
what happened to the cool old speedometer? I am sick of computer everything!

Love this so much that I ordered a 2025 MINI C It’s only one second slower than the S model.
I am so disappointed. This is not Mini anymore. I own the Mini Cooper S Convertible R53. Retro Design in perfection.
Why Mini would axe the manual transmission when 22% of 2023 Cooper S owners optioned their Mini with a manual is beyond me. Genuinely hope that they pull something similar to what Toyota did w/ the Supra and that they reintroduce the option for a manual in later model years.
Because there have been some quality issues with the clutch. It’s still a fun car without it.

@@mach1nefan exactly! Like they’ve completely wiped out the Mini’s heritage. It’s just sad.
Those taillights…..🤮
just like Trump 2 genetic experiment sons
The headlight now looks like suzuki swift
Terrible If the screen goes out. Then what? Looks so cheap
It looks just like any other Chinese car.
It looks 'interesting', but I still prefer my 2023 JCW Rebel Green/Chesterfield Malt interior convertible. Nothing beats the my Union Jack tail lights.

They look like base models.
I wonder if it falls apart like the old Minis?
These cars have lost their way since the original Gen. 1 Frank Stephenson design. The 2005-06 MINI coupes were peak new MINI.
No exhaust and cheap interior with recycled materials.... why??
Oh dear, it looks like a cheap chinese copy of a mini !
I think it looks good

looks fine but doesnt look like an upgrade over the f56
I think those who like it are going to like it.
oh my god it looks a mess 💀
No four door?
The 4 door will come out this fall
Love❤❤❤❤
Love at first sight
Ridiculous that we still call these Minis.I liked the R53 but things went downhill from there.
I am so excited about this car. Holy. Mini finally learned, yoy don't need to make an ugly electric car. Love it
I’ll keep my r53 thanks…..this is horrific
Had a F56 Mini JCW and this new one looks awful in comparison.
I'm a big mini fan. But sadly not anymore. It looks cheap 😢😢
No thanks. I'll keep my 2024
I have a f54 301 hp and no way these are better. Too simplistic, too sparse too feminine and if they’re not careful could turn into a female brand which will kill it altogether down the road….
If the r56 is a pain i cant imaigine this. Ill keep my r53 and sell my r56
What a pity!
interior looks great but exterior has taken a step backwards, looking really boring from the front and ugly like an old yaris from the back.
Interior dash is horrible a la Tesla. I'll pass.
Agreed 1000%
I had a 2016 Countryman and this new design is nothing compare to prev. models. Terrible!
I cant stand the bar across the front grill and the tail lights are horrible and make it look so cheap

Interior does look cheap the dash resembles me of cardboard with the lack of switches which mini was unique at.
I don't like the new tail lights. They're ugly. The old ones look better.
😭

Definitely a cheap Chinese copy of sweet and fabulous Mini Cooper
Best 👍
It looks like they designed an EV Mini………and then added an ICE engine. Truly awful design for a base model, never mind the Cooper S version.
That is exactly what they did. I've seen an interview video with one of the designers.

Agree
In your opinion?
Agreed 💯
A German says Yesssss!!!

Absolutely awful,all character gone,inside a mess,dreadful

Tail lights sucks
eek. kinda wack. loved my my 2013
I don't like it, looks cheap and foreign lets say, French
Looks like a cheap economy car lol
What an ugly little car….
New designer must be fired
mini trying hard to make their car look like a lifan
Chinese knock off.
The rear looks like a FIAT! My guess? Mini as a brand will be gone by next generation.

All designed to save money it’s 💩
All of the 3 designs r huge fail!
😢😢💩💩💩 Suzuki
