My transmission has a slip in second gear. Almost like the gear isn't fully engaged like their are multiple gears in second gear. This issue goes away if shifted manually after hitting 2100 rpm in 1st gear. I performed a fluid and filter change and found non-metalic metal flakes in the pan. The issue is still there after the change. Guessing I eventually need a new transmission but for now it works fine if I shift manually. Any ideas what the issue might be? I am fairly local to you and would like to have the repair done by someone who knows sprinters. Thanks!
HI! This issue needs further diagnostics. I can't tell you right away whats wrong with it. However, as practice shows, it's cheaper and faster just to swap the entire transmission with a torque converter. We will have soon, a transmission with 67k miles only from RV Sprinter.
This is a great how to video, one of the best I have seen. How critical is to remove the cross member to change the fluid? Can it be done without removing it?
It is just easier for me to remove it. It takes few minutes to take it out. But it can be done without removing it, but still you have to lift transmission.
Torque converter, is so hard to get to so I drain 4L then fill 4L, run the engine for a bit, then drain again and fill again, not a complete job but I still have all my hair.
You mentioned "few metal pieces found, nothing critical for 250k mileage". Since the factory recommendation is to change the transmission fluid every 60k miles or less, can I assume it is NOT the first oil change on this transmission? Otherwise it can't possible be this clean, right?
I just saw your video about the transmission oil change. I have to do a service on my 2011 2500 140WB. It has a leak so I am guessing the seal needs to be replaced as well. I saw in your video you mentioned and used MB software. Is that available for purchase somewhere? Thanks for your help.
watched a second time and git more out of it, I also watched several other videos and the combination will help me move forward to do thsi job for the first time, oh getting rid of the music rather just hear the explanation, no idea why people add stupid music to their videos, tune off actually but thanks for the rest
Looks great. I especially like the intro.
I'm glad you like it
Great detailed information on this job. However my 2017 didn't have to remove cross member , or jack transmission. Thanks for video.
yeah, I mentioned below that it is not 100% necessary, it is just more convenient and easier and takes about 5 min. to do.
14:54 it is my understanding that the level when hot (180 degree) should be checked with the engine running and in neutral.

To service 722.6 (5speed)removal of cross member or lift of transmission is required, with 722.9 (7 speed) you don't.

Well if you watched the video - it is 5.1q of oil without torque. Torque plug-in video was stripped, that's why we didn't flush it.
Where abouts in Washington are you? I have a 07 dodge sprinter I need help with some questions
Bellingham WA, web site in the description.
What about torck convertor drainage
Torque capacity - 2 quarts. In the video, torque drain bolt was seized. So it was impossible to take it out.

Yes, of course it's not the first transmission oil, I had Sprinter in my shop with only 50k miles and fluid was so dark like it had 250k miles.

Replied through Sprinter-source.
@@sprintermotors Great video...thank you. I was wondering the same about how to get the maintenance software. Thanks again.
Hi, is that same for 722.695?
