So unique about this series so far is it is giving us th perspective of a person with identity dissociation disorder. Showing how scary and confusing Steven is with having another persona.
It is actually called Dissociative identity Disorder or D.I.D. and there are no personality/personas or anything like that. they are actually called Alters. so Steven or Marc is an alter depending on the comic, or the show still the real term is called Alters. Alters are real people with real memories with wants & dreams of there own

How do you pass judgement on a person who is three? Stevie is being portrayed as a thoughtful and nice person. Mark is a savage. We haven't even met the third yet.
This was much better than I thought it would be. I cannot wait for next week, and I like how this really feels like a movie and not a TV series.

I'm glad they didn't go the "Fight Club" route with portraying Marc's DID. This was also a good way of showing how involuntary alter changes are. From what I know about DID, you really can lose days even when one of your alter decides to front. Seems like Steven is a fairly new-ish alter, so whatever happened to Marc to make Steven take over for so long must've been a pretty large trauma (I imagine dying and becoming Moon Knight would do that). I appreciate the fact that they didn't (yet) make any "evil" alter, since DID is about managing trauma, not causing it. Yes, some alters (categorised as "Protectors") can be rougher on the outside, but never straight-up causing problems on purpose.
Persecutors alters, which are a type of protecter, on the other hand sometimes DO start shit purposefully. As an attempt to push people away to protect the system...they are usually slightly misguided in their protection...but wouldn't physically harm anyone, of course.

@@MasterZeus94 I agree! There are no evil alters in that way. Absolutely. Persecutors are often very misunderstood and deemed " bad" but at the end of the day they are still protectors.
From what I know of Moon Knight in the comics none of his alters were ever "evil."

The series roll out for the MCU has got me thinking. Moon Knight was a member of Hawkeye's West Coast Avengers. Wanda and Vision were members of the West Coast Avengers, and so was Wonder Man, whose brother's helmet was depicted in the WandaVision series. US Agent, introduced in Falcon and the Winter Soldier, was a member of the West Coast Avengers. Kate Bishop, introduced in the Hawkeye mini series, was a member of the West Coast Avengers. And if you consider the Avengers Age of Ultron, Hawkeye was instrumental in bringing Wanda into the Avengers and you were introduced to Hawkeye's wife who was also a member of the West Coast Avengers by the name of Mockingbird, and you would have seen her symbol on a watch in that movie. Armor Wars is coming up and War Machine (Rhodie), who will play the major roll in that series, was a member of Hawkeye's West Coast Avengers. I can't imagine Marvel is aiming that way, but it is rather coincidental.

Great reaction as usual guys. I'm loving the show. I love ancient Egyptian mythology and Oscar Issac and Ethan Hawke are great, so I'm a shoe in for this show. One thing I wanted to point out though. I believe the crocodilian god Sebek was worshipped in ancient Egypt but Ammut/Ammit was not. Instead, according to Wikipedia, she embodied all that the Egyptians feared, threatening to bind them to eternal restlessness if they didn't follow the principles of Ma'at, the goddess of truth. She basically did what they are portraying in the show but it was a funerary process instead, judging the dead. Anubis weighed the heart of the person on scales of justice in Duat against a feather of Ma'at. If it was judged unpure it was devoured by Ammut/Ammit and the person was denied immortality in the afterlife. It's all very interesting. @@FandomZone Yeah, I had to read up on it too so don't feel bad. I think ancient Egyptian Wiki pages are going to get a lot of traffic in the next month or so lol. It's fascinating stuff. It'll be interesting to see what other Egyptian mythological elements they add in later episodes.

I’d love if the next episode is all of the scenes where Marc is in control that are cut from episode 1. We’ve seen Steven confused and terrified, we should see Marc and Konshu trying to stay on mission despite Steven fighting for control the whole time.
That would be really something cool to see and learn more about the mission.
I just think that would be a waste of time. Like we don't REALLY need to see that. It wouldn't offer anything new that can't just be presented while progressing with the story from here.

@@daimonclarke it's only 6 episodes, how does showing Marc beating guys up add anything aside from exposition? What's so cool is that we don't see what happened since we are in Steven's shoes. This isn't functioning like a Marvel show and I really appreciate that. In fact, the parts I liked the least is when it started to feel like Marvel again.
So far I love the first episode of both Moon Knight and Loki.

Happy birthday Jules, glad to see you both enjoyed this so much (as did J and I). My speculative theory? Marc found out about Ethan Hawke's soul judging thing and, given his past, figured it would suck out his soul, and so allowed Steven to front because he's an innocent who's never done anything wrong (he couldn't have known the result would be "chaos"). Konshu wasn't happy about it but it meant Marc could front as needed for missions... but now it's all gone wrong.

Loved this first episode, probably my favourite premiere episode of all the shows. I love the trippy nature of it and the horror elements are just great.
