      Thanks for watching. That is so true, it really is something we all need… we can’t wait to get out there again. Unfortunately life is a bit busy right now but hopefully in a couple weeks I can get out and clear my mind!!

      I love my drone…. Often when we are exploring I’ll use it to scope out places before I get my trailer jammed in somewhere. 😂

    Zac, great little video! I may have missed it previously, but I believe this is a cameo appearance of your lovely wife. You both look great! Oh, and another thing, I did notice in the half second clip, you didn't have your life jacket on in the canoe. LOL

      Yeah I’m trying to encourage her to be in more clips… much more intelligent sounding when she’s talking 😂
      I’ll have to re-watch it I don’t remember ever having my life jacket off. You sure I wasn’t on shore… I don’t wear it when there. 😜

    Finally a new video! Great work all around! You ever worry about getting stuck in late winter early spring with all the snow?

    • @waysoutback
      @waysoutback  2 года назад +3

      Thanks!
      Sometimes but I’m pretty well equipped my truck has a front and rear locker, a winch and I have chains for the truck and trailer. One night I had to move though, late at night… about midnight…. It was actually because it was melting all day and then it started snowing like crazy. The track we drove in was super soft I was sinking about a foot in the snow. We got out to the plowed road and we just camped out there.
      I think camping in the winter you definitely need to be a bit more aware of your surroundings but for the peace and quiet it’s totally worth it!

    • @peterwellings8611
      @peterwellings8611 2 года назад

      @@waysoutback ya I’m working on getting myself set up similar to you but that’s my biggest concern. I feel like a winch is pretty needed for security incase you get stuck solo. Looks so beautiful out there. Maybe I’ll take a drive this summer and check some spots in Ontario this year.

    This was beautiful!! I am making my own mini camper 7x12 and should be ready by June. I am in Mississauga - how to locate similar sites within a 200km radioisotope?? Any guidance!!

    • @waysoutback
      @waysoutback  2 года назад

      Glad you liked it! I think 7x12 is a good size. I wouldn’t go any bigger…. Not too big or small yet you can fit everything in it nicely!
      I have a few spots on my website. www.waysoutback.com. ….. They are not super great… just my winter campsites but It will help you get started…. Something to explore from. The best way is to go camping drop you trailer and start exploring. I’d recommend back roads map book as a decent resource.

    Stumbled across your channel (?) and just want to say thanks for sharing. I drive a 07 Level ll so your choice of vehicle interests me. Also looking at the idea of a cargo camper, which is how I came across “WayOutBack” in the first place. Northern ON is beautiful and that’s from a Rocky Mountain loving Westerner. Retired now and another trip across our country is in the works. As someone who knows the fuel mileage of every vehicle I’ve owned, I have to ask what kind of mileage (on paved highways) do you get pulling your trailer? ㊗️

    • @waysoutback
      @waysoutback  2 года назад

      Glad you found my channel really nice to have you along! Yes I really love my Ranger, 3rd one I own. I have another channel “Ranger Shop” it’s focused just on the truck if your interested.
      I’d say if you were only using it to pull your trailer you will feel that it’s a bit inadequate. But I find it’s a nice balance for what I need, camping fishing outdoors etc. For towing the trailer it helps me get off the beaten track, I can pretty much go where the jeeps go. Great for getting those beautiful spots right on the lake!
      When I did my last trip out west in the Rockies I was only getting 8mpg and 12 on the flats, it was terrible. I discovered my catalytic was plugged, I fixed that and also installed a supercharger. Now while towing here in Ontario I’m getting closer to 18mpg uphill and downhill much better!
      I think the biggest factor is weight and size of your trailer if it’s light and small then you will have no problem. I don’t think I’d go much over 3500lbs if towing through the west. My trailer is around 2500lbs so it’s quite light.
      That’s my two cents anyways, hope that helps.

    It’s nice to get away like that but I’ll be freaking out too because I don’t know if there’s a crazy killer in the woods.

    • @waysoutback
      @waysoutback  2 года назад

      That’s funny, I’ve been out in the bush since I was a little kid… haven’t run across any killers yet. 😂
      Seriously though it’s always good to be aware of your surroundings, a few times I’ve moved because i didn’t feel comfortable. Although I’m pretty sure you have a better chance of running into a crazy killer in the grocery store. 😂
