According to Kim "you can't dance to SG music", he said they craked so hard many times seeing the crowd reaction to their songs, how thei odd signature songs makes it hard to think about dancing to it. I love that, SG was so different from all the bands i grew up listening!!
Love that you’re finally hearing My Wave. As another commenter said, SG laughed about their songs being undanceable. In one interview about My Wave, they cackled over how the catchy riff would get people dancing but that the odd timing soon broke up the groove. They said it was like dropping a bunch of ping pong balls and watching them go from bouncing in unison to something really chaotic.
*Rory.* Thanks 😊 I knew you'd pick this one 😄 It's their biggest and most critically praised album.🔥🔥🔥 SG clashed with producer Michael Beinhorn throughout the recording process. This album came out after Badmotorfinger... and most fans either choose one or the other as their fave. I'm torn 😄 This album has some truly incredible tracks (...and somehow Tighter & Tighter didn't make the cut, but was saved for Down on the Upside.) I think the only new tracks for you are: My Wave, Superunknown, Head Down, Half (Ben sings on that one!), and Kickstand. P. S. - the 3rd choice was Audioslave's live debut performance on Letterman, outside on the roof of the Sullivan Theatre in NY
On my top 10 all time great albums. Not a bad song on this album. Way ahead of it's time, so sophysticated , double tracking vocal, Matt killing on drums, Ben solid as fuck, Kim's best guitar sound and of course, rock god Chris Cornell, what a voice!!
Glad ur getting round to this one. This one is my personal fav LP. Was def interested in your take on My Wave, as it's a top five track for me from them, but it seemed to throw you off a bit lol. Listen to it a couple more times and you may settle in with it.. Sort of a hate if you want to hate, but keep that shit off my wavelength type of vibe. Very relatable :)
One of my favorite Soundgarden albums!! Its ROCKS!! Awesome reaction Rory and thank you Lydia for requesting this outstanding album! 😊💓🤘✌️🔥 SOOOO GOOOD!!! I hope you react to some Pearl Jam albums also!!
I love how Ben's tone changes a lot during songs. At the end of My Wave his tone gets kinda fuzzy. i noticed that on Badmotorfinger also.. He always changes it up. It keeps it from getting stale.
The production is very different on Superunknown The difference between A Terry Date record and a Brendan O' Brien record is like night and day.. O' Brien likes to record bands in a way that captures a live sound in the studio. Very few overdubs and very few takes. He likes to have that room ambience and lots of energy in his mixes. You can hear that on every record he has mixed.

Thanks for this!!🔥I also emailed him the audioslave letterman performance awhile ago but I’m not sure he got it
The Letterman Audioslave performance is incredible!! Great suggestion. 😊💓🤘✌️

Timeless album

You’ve gotta listen to Audioslave’s whole first album at some point too
It's a great album, thanks matey. Quality band with a jet lead singer that could do rock, ballads, metal... they're almost America's Cold Chisel
Awesome Reaction! Would love to hear you do Alice in Chains Dirt full album!

It's funny you were describing "Let Me Drown" as sounding like a "wave" because the next song is called "My Wave".
a wave that drowns you into the rest of the album i might say

I love you 😂😂😊😮😮😢❤
If you haven't done it yet, I recommend Alice in Chains' ep SAP. It features Chris Cornell, and Mark Arm from Mudhoney.
