My theory is that we as the reader will turn out to have been reading the story from the POV of the "bad guy" in the sense that Violet is Navarrean. I think Venin aren't the actual bad guys, but leadership in Navarre might be. I think it's an analogy of America's war on "weapons of mass destruction". I only made that stretch because the author's husband served in Afghanistan and Iraq , if I'm remembering correctly. It might have been blatantly obvious to everyone, but i still haven't heard anyone addressing the fact that leadership in Navarre is keeping things from their citizens, forcing conscription, killing innocents, and enforcing very harsh and deadly laws. Let's remember that history is written by the victor and that is mentioned several times throughout the series. There's a reason the scribes are so important. As the series progresses we start to uncover more and more untruths as the main character's world begins to expand. She's starting to realize how wrong the history of her people is. I wouldn't be surprised if just like the Griffin riders turned out to not be so bad, so do the venin.

I love the idea of Navarreans being bad guys. While I do not think Venin will be good guys, the Idea of Violet pushing Xaden so much to tell her the truth about absolutely EVERYTHING, and then to turn around and her being worse then him is just poetic to me. While I adore the book, she was unbearable in book two.

@@tanyam8610 oooooo I love that! That IS poetic. It also supports the L.AM.E theory that her second signet is truth teller. Information is definitely one of her main motivations as a character and it circles back to Andarna choosing Violet because she has the mind of a scribe and heart of a rider. It's also the opposite of Xayden and all his secrets and metaphorical shadows. And doesn't the book always mention that nature seeks balance? That's why Venin exist? I might have just made that up but I remember something like that 🤔

It was Lilith who had the fever when she was pregnant with Violet. My theory is she was fighting Venin when she was pregnant and one got his hands on her and drained causing Violet to have silver hair.

Can I just say as a completely blind listener, you 3 have such awesome speaking voices. Like they’re super pretty, which I suppose is the blind people equivalent of saying that you have pretty eyes. I would also love to be a guest at some point. I think it would be super fun to discuss books. Also, I think Onyx storm is going to lead to maybe even some unexpected alliances.

Oh my gosh this is so fun. I’ve been obsessed for the last couple of weeks! I know I know I’m behind.
See the only thing I don’t think she can resurrect or talk to the dead cause when she does talk to Liam she was blocked from her signet. Also that was before Andarna woke up from her sleep. Can Violet develop a second signet before she wakes up?
My biggest theory is that her second signet has to do with truth slayer. Maybe a form of intrinsic, maybe she can like force her truth into people. She is a person who thrives of truth and information. There are subtle moments where it could be a possibility.
Second idea is something to do with gravity, since the word is used so much, similar to how the word lighting and shadows were used a lot before we knew Violet and Xaden’s signets.
I don’t know though, I’m so excited for the next book. I love all y’alls theories it’s got my brain working.

Wasn’t it Liam’s mom the creator of the rebellion tattoos from a series of protective ruins. one that Xaiden said it is impossible to replicate. therefore Liam’s mom was an expert at this. She probably taught Liam and Liam was in turn leaving ruins in his carvings….. Vi kept one and hence she can still have a connection to him. 🤷🏽‍♀️
idk Ruins have to come into play and it can’t be a coincidence that it was Liam’s mom specialty.

Xaden used shadows after he turned venin, so he used that signet at least
